Very impressed with Riva Davia driving school. My daughter just finished her 3rd and final driving…read morelesson with them and immediately passed her DMV license test. The instructors were really helpful in her journey. Some points I found particularly impressive: 1) they took her on the highway for the first time, this felt safest for us all (having someone who could take over if needed at high speeds!) 2) on one occasion they pulled over and instructor drew on paper how and where to begin a turn in an intersection. this visual demo really stuck with her and was helpful. 3) on her last lesson, they drove to the DMV test to get test day specific help including where to go, what roads they might be driving on, what are some areas others often get tripped up. there were other examples of really helpful lessons but I cannot remember. I also liked that this company in particular was incredibly easy to book an appointment with! others I found were booked out too far in advance. they also always showed up on time and used the full lesson time. All in all, I highly recommend!

Yancarlos explained all the rules thoroughly, took me to the test area to drive around to make sure I understand the possible errors and prepared me in every possible way. He's also great to talk to, and it was great to spend the test day with him while waiting in the Daly City DMV line. Highly recommend to all drivers, novice and experienced alike.

I was referred to Michael for driving lessons by a friend who also took lessons with him and had my first lesson in October of 2024. I had never driven a car before this day! Michael is extremely patient, kind, and helps you to feel relaxed and confident when you're behind the wheel. He is flexible with his teaching styles and can accommodate different learning needs. Personally, I work best with a more visual learning style and he was very supportive of that! He is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable in what he does and on top of that, has a fantastic personality as well! I can proudly say that after only 6 lessons with Michael, I was able to pass my driving test and get my license!!! I highly, highly recommend him as a driving teacher and feel so lucky that I was able to work with him when preparing for my test!

I hadn't driven in 10 years. For an upcoming job interview, I need to prove that I can indeed…read moredrive, eventhough this is not a driving job. We live in interesting times. I looked up driving schools and gave Daniel a call yesterday. He had availability this morning and he picked me up at 10 this morning for a 2-hour course. He texted me when he was at my address, I came down, climbed into the drivers seat, and we were off! Daniel is calm. I give that statement it's own sentence because Daniel's calm instruction and gentle voice go a long way for anyone learning to drive, and for me just needing a refresher course. We drove through busy San Francisco, narrow China Town, turned left and right, parallel parked and practiced baking up. I nailed it, thanks to Daniel's excellent, calm instruction! I highly recommend his Excel Driving School!

I rarely leave one-star reviews, but after spending a significant amount of money on driving…read morelessons for my daughter, I feel obligated to share our experience. My daughter took approximately 6-7 lessons with Daniel, paying around $180 per lesson. (Driver test day 250$$$) Throughout the entire process, she repeatedly came home frustrated, saying that much of the lesson time was spent talking rather than providing actual driving instruction and technical guidance. As a parent, I trusted that a professional instructor would be preparing her for success behind the wheel and for her driving test. What concerned me most was the timing and professionalism. After multiple paid lessons, Daniel suddenly suggested that my daughter might be better suited to a female instructor shortly before her driving test. If that was truly his professional assessment, it should have been communicated much earlier--not after weeks of lessons and hundreds of dollars spent. Instead of helping build confidence, my daughter felt increasingly nervous and discouraged. There were several interactions that left her feeling criticized rather than coached. A driving instructor's role is to teach, guide, and prepare students for success, especially when they are already anxious about an upcoming test. I cannot recommend Daniel based on our experience. We invested substantial time and money, yet received very little meaningful instruction compared to what we expected. Parents looking for a driving instructor should carefully consider whether they are receiving actual training, constructive feedback, and professional communication throughout the process. I hope this review helps other families make an informed decision before committing their hard-earned money.

I took 3 lessons with Gorden but after my lesson yesterday I am so unbelievably upset. Gorden will constantly belittle you the entire lesson and give you major attitude all while constantly answering his phone to set up other drivers lessons. IN THE MIDDLE OF DIRECTING YOU! Leaving you extremely confused on what to do next. I have very tough skin. I dealt with the attitude for two lessons as I get it must be stressful teaching new drivers and he is a very seasoned instructor so it's routine. But the complete and utter lack of respect is so wrong for new drivers. He seldom gives positive reinforcement and he make you feel like complete crap for learning. Yesterday during my lesson it came to a head toward the end of the lesson. I honestly even regret paying him but at the time I thought it was the right thing to do since it was towards the end of the lesson but I wish I could get a refund. He was trying to teach me to park and parallel park as well. I am not a person who will instantly pick up what someone is teaching me. It's already nerve wracking worrying about someone's car and the cars around you and then to have someone getting angry and belittling you for not remembering something all while just trying to learn pushed me to the limit where I was holding back tears. No one should feel this way. I put the car in park put the emergency brake on and left crying to a nearby park. I've only spent a few hours in the car and when you have someone giving you attitude and being rude it wears on you. I will firstly admit I definitely made mistakes while on our lessons. That's the point of the lessons, TO LEARN. Yelling at someone effects your driving and state of mind. It effected me so much that for the next hour I just spent crying until I calmed down enough to order a Lyft home. He tried to apologize through text and drive me home but the damage was done. I have never felt this way ever being taught to drive. He is not a teach for people who are sensitive for sure you will probably be leaving your lesson in tears. Yes I will admit that there are things I should've remembered or known but it's so unbelievably hard to recall that information when the person you are trying to learn for it treating you so very wrongly. If you don't like tough love learning STAY AWAY.
