I live in Kentucky but purchased a truck from Bill Leggett Automotive because they had the model I wanted. Before buying, I asked several questions over email about its condition and any possible mechanical issues. I was told, "Zero issues, very nice truck." Unfortunately, that was not true. On the drive home, the exhaust pipe past the muffler fell off. I also discovered problems with the front brakes and alignment. Additionally, the bumper was supposed to be replaced before I picked up the truck on May 31st--but it hadn't been. I was assured it would be delivered to me and installed by a local mechanic arranged through Travers Hughes. It took over a month before the bumper even arrived, with Travers blaming the eBay seller for the delay. When I found a local mechanic who could install it for $125, the bumper showed up without the correct brackets. On July 18th, I emailed Travers about the issue, and he replied that he would "contact them and get the correct parts and send you the $125 no problem." Today is August 21st. I still have not received the correct parts or the $125. My advice: Do not take their word for anything. Do not trust that Travers Hughes will follow through on his promises. read more

I went to look at a car they had listed. He was friendly at first until I noticed a massive oil leak under the car coming from the oil pan and mentioned it to him. Okay, no big deal. That's easy to fix and isn't a deal breaker I thought. I asked to test drive it, then he said that he can't let me drive it without him in the car, to which I agreed. Then he said that no one else was available in the dealership for him to leave, which wasn't true. There was another man sitting in an office inside. I asked him if I could take it to a mechanic and he said I'd have to pay a $500 deposit and if the mechanic doesn't find anything in the engine or transmission specifically then I would have to buy the vehicle. So for example if the entire frame is rusted out you're stuck with it. What a joke of a place. NEVER buy a car from there. This is the gold standard for shady dealership practices. read more

Both the salesman and the owner are CROOKS! Advertised a clean Carfax but when asked to see it, they said they were too busy right then and that they would print it while my uncle test drove the car. After test driving, salesman wanted to know if my uncle liked the car. He did, but he again requested the Carfax. Salesman said he was still too busy but requested a down payment to hold the car and he would send the Carfax later that night. After a few days of not receiving the Carfax, my uncle paid for his own Carfax and discovered the car had been crashed FOUR TIMES! My uncle went back in to tell them that he no longer wanted the car because the Carfax was not clean, as they had advertised. Salesman started screaming for no reason saying that they wouldnt give the deposit back and that he didnt care if he sells a crashed car. (Clearly) Salesman then proceeded to KICK MY UNCLE OUT OF THE OFFICE! so I bought a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 150000 miles I really love the truck I saved up $13,600 to buy this truck. That was my dream truck about two days after my purchase the motor started tapping about two days after that, the fan would not turn off, so I changed the temperature. Sending unit then it started working correctly, but the knocking tapping sound never went away then about three weeks later I'm driving and the low oil pressure light came on an said pull over and cut the car off as I'm pulling over the truck starts knocking so loud so the end result is the motor was damaged and I ended up selling the truck because it would've cost too much to repair so I sold it for $4000 so I pretty much took a $10,000 loss But I started telling a few people I know about the problem I had I started hearing more and more about Bill Leggett selling lemons and most of there vehicles are salvaged and I just had a conversation with him just now and he told me that all of the Chevy cruises have overheating problems they're built with plastic parts and he's a cocaine Crackhead I have seen this guy in a bar with a group of his friends, snorting cocaine in the bathroom so everyone please beware please bring a mechanic and do a carfax. they do bad business. ask around don't take my word for it you'll find out if you plan on buying a lemon from Bill Leggett, and his coke head employee Please be safe and have a blessed day everyone Just remember, at least 50% of his cars have been flooded stolen recoveries or been in an accident because I am convinced that he put some type of Lucas or something in my motor the day I bought it to quiet it up but it's OK. If I could give this place no stars I would. I was in there to take a look at a vehicle and the sales man wouldn't allow me to test drive it cause he already had a potential buyer. Granted I didn't have financing figured out yet but when I asked he kept saying that someone else was coming to look. And when I went to walk away I told them they weren't trying to sell me a car but to the other person. Then I was told to leave after I stood my ground. We had an awful experience with another used auto mall, and came here..got a 2018 Kia Soul for less than $10K and a 3 yr service agreement. They referred us to Wright Patt Credit Union and to an after market installer for a remote start package. Pending having the car gone over by our mechanic this seems to be a good value and Travers took very good care of us. Most of the cars on the lot were over 100K miles, so I'm not sure if some of the negative reviews are warranted. We know "buyer be aware" and "get what you pay for". Our Soul has almost 61K miles and we are hopeful that it will last several years with regular maintenance. Will update if our opinion changes with new info. read more

Out looking for a car for our daughter came upon this business saw a nice SUV my daughter has cash in hand ready to go thought this was a nice SUV the price wasn't bad either talk to the salesperson he said yeah give me a minute we told him we wanted to do a test ride . So after about 20-30 minutes give or take you know he was doing you know helping other people no big deal so then once he's dealing with us he basically says that he will not let us test drive a car unless we're ready to buy it right now flat out. And when we stayed at that we would like to go look around at another car lot trying to abuse I guess his selling techniques and make us feel like we shouldn't have to go look nowhere else okay okay cool. But you won't allow us to test drive the car or have a mechanic come up here and look at the car unless we are buying the car, I've never heard of somebody not allowing you to test drive a car so that you can see how the car drives I'm not going to promise to buy something if I can't even test drive it or have mechanic look at it? Where do I begin! We went here to purchase a car. We picked a used 2006 BMW X3. They said if we wanted to have it looked at we would have to pay a $500 non refundable fee. He said the only thing wrong was the light on dash was on and it was probably a sensor. He agreed to take care of it. Well took it to the shop and it was a $5700.00 repair. We paid $6200.00 for the car. Leggett would not pay for it , using the "as is" excuse. I mentioned the consumer protection laws, and the owner said "don't quote laws to me, I've been selling cars for 30+ years!" I said I wanted to rescind the deal, if they wouldn't pay. He said no, and then the salesman called me later. He said we could only bring the car back, and trade it for a different one. We did this...ugh! We went and switched it for a 2010 Nissan Altima. The car was the best choice on the lot. We had to pay the difference of $322. TWO days later , our son goes to leave work and the car won't start. UNBELIEVABLE!!! We had it towed to a Nissan dealership, and it was a $900 repair. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR DEALERSHIP----they do not care about the customer, and they push "as is " garbage cars off their lot!!! I should've seen the red flag when I was sitting in the salesman office when a lady and her husband came in complaining the car was starting after driving it off the lot. I bought a car and was the last ones to handle the car. they don't latch the hood of the car properly. within 3 mins of driving off the lot and getting on the highway, the hood flys back and slams the windshield. I go back to the lot and they give the 'as is' bullshit. and that they've been been in business for 30 years. They agreed to pay get it fixed. I had to keep calling them in order to return my call. They sent me to some backyard dude to get the car fix. they only paid to to fix the hood, not the windshield or windshield panel. this is after they told me they would pay for everything. when I asked they said they're no longer making money on the car and they were doing me a favor. regardless of who's responsibility it is, they sleazily tell you they car about customers then turn around and don't do the right thing. read more

I was introduced to Jeremy, and told him what I was needing and about how much I wanted to spend. He had several good options for me to look at. Told them that if things check out that we'd likely be at the table working out a deal. Our vehicle was totaled in an accident, and we were on a tight time frame to find something else. We'd compared prices, took some test drives, and weren't finding anything in our price range that didn't seem to have potentially expensive problems. We found something we liked at Bill Leggett automotive through an online search and went to check it out. What we found was a car that had some very minor issues, but was overall in great shape and VERY fairly priced. It was under the Blue Book value, but still mechanically sound (my significant other knows quite a bit about the vehicle we were shopping for, and he knew what problems to look for). Our salesman, Kevin, was friendly, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. We weren't able to buy that day, but he offered to come in on his day off to finalize the sale in a few days because he knew we were in a time crunch. Overall, we had a great buying experience. The business is rated well by the BBB, which we checked into before we went there. They have a smaller but quality collection of VERY reasonably priced cars, and we can't say enough about Kevin. We'd dealt with a few unlikeable salespeople during our car buying ordeal and we were really happy that we finally found one that we were comfortable with. He's clearly been doing this a while and he seems to really like what he does. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that we weren't given dealer plates. We were told we could transfer the plates to our new car. This is technically not incorrect, but we weren't really familiar with the process and didn't realize that you can't transfer plates until you have the title, which might take a month to come in the mail. It's our fault for not doing our homework first, but we wish we were informed that we could not transfer the plates NOW. Aside from that, it was an excellent buying experience. If you're in the market, this place is definitely worth a look. I hope we won't have to be back here for several years, but we'll be back eventually. And we'll do our homework first. ;) read more

Please be aware of the traps from this dealer. I bought a used car last year and there had been numerous problems. The trick they played includes the conventional telling you 'this car would be sold if not hurry', and spent a lot of time, more than one hour, to finish the paper work before hand over the car, that I didn't spent the time to do a final check. They didn't even allowed me to test drive, coz they said as foreign student by law I can't drive. So I came back and find the 'air-bag' light has always been on. Actually they also tricked me to buy an insurance for $900, which couldn't cover this issue. Their solution was only to direct me to a Dealer to check the problem, I paid the $90 checking fee. Beware! Dishonest business. I bought a car from Bill Leggett about 5 years ago which still haunts me to this day. They sold me a car assuring me that it has no problems. About a week into having the car the engine light came on. When I went back to tell them what happened, they were extremely rude and did not let me talk to them because "I did not have an appointment." After trying several times to get an answer from them as to why they sold me a car with a dead engine, they said I bought the car "as is" and therefore they are not responsible. The owner was extremely rude and did not offer help with the repair until he heard that I was going to take legal action. A week after they finally agreed and "repaired" the issue, the light came back on and the mechanics told me it would cost me thousands to fix it. I basically lost thousands of $$ on a car that I could not drive for more than a month. Overall, this business is dishonest, can take advantage of you and you may end up dealing with a very aggressive owner if things go wrong. Beware, especially international students! read more

Received dealer's call saying car had been fixed, but it didn't start when we got to the dealership and they sent the car back to their service station. Called two days later to say it was fixed; stopped at the store on the way home and the car would not start after being parked and the car had to be towed. Joke of a dealer. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Test drove a vehicle and the check engine light and 4x4 light were on. When we returned to the dealership I explained that we were interested in the vehicle pending the reason for both. Check engine light pulled a low voltage code. The salesman, John, asked us if they fixed it would we purchase. I told him that would depend on what the issue was. His reply was, well if we fix it then it shouldn't matter what the problem is. I explained that depending on what the issue is it could have down-chain effects and I would be more comfortable knowing before entering into a purchase contract like he wanted. He said he would speak to the owner and let me know, verifying my contact information. 24-26 hours passed with no word from John. I called him and asked for an update. He explained that he researched the cause and that they had replaced an alternator on this vehicle (not mentioned the day before) and that it was likely due to needing a re-flash and the 4x4 light had not come back on, though, the check engine light still was. He then told me that they don't just take a car to the shop based on a customer wanting it checked and the next person might just buy it as is.
