Size of cod was small but very delicious--deep fried with panko coating and tender to cut. Green beans were In a savory tomato gravy. Potato salad was creamy and delightful. A standard Bill Miller's. Filled with locals so must be a favorite in town. You place your order at the counter, pay and have a seat. They bring the food out to you. Ordered quickly and order brought out quickly. Ordered brisquet with ribs, coleslaw, Spanish rice and green beans (see photo). Coleslaw was more vinegary than sweet, I do not really care for mayonnaise, so to me it was quite good. Green beans has pieces of bacon and a mild tomatoey sauce over them, also quite good. I always like their onions in that they have seasonings and a mild sauce over them that I find tones down the stronger onion flavor. The brisquet was tender and smoky tasting and of a good quantity for a 2 meat plate. The pork ribs had a good flavor but were a bit over done a partially dry. Not sure why the low ratings? I felt it was a good filling lunch for a little over $ 13 with a large iced tea. I would recommend and be back next time in town. read more

How hard is it to fill an order of two links of sasauge after they totally screwed up a family order that we've had waiting on us not once but twice this is ridiculous from Bill Miller establishment to be run this badly. We've been very faithful faithful customers of this establishment and is pushing my limits about to get pissed off. In town for work and stopped in to check them out. Very pleased with my meal, had the rancher plate with spare ribs, brisket, coleslaw, a baked potato and cream corn. The pricing was fair as were the portions. My two sticking points though, were the bland BBQ sauce and coleslaw. The BBQ sauce lacked flavor and edge, totally absent any sweet/tangy/spicy/vinegar undertones. In fact, after trying to place the flavor, I settled on canned Campbell's tomato soup. Don't get me wrong, soup as a base is fine, but do a little better job disguising it. All in all 3 stars, with an independent 4 going to the cream corn. read more

The service was friendly and fast, the prices good, the food tasty and the restaurant and bathroom clean. It was a pleasant surprise and I'd go back again. Ugh. Isn't it a crime to serve bad barbecue in Texas? Well, these guys might be able to beat the rap because I don't think this meat came anywhere near wood smoke. They had a two meat combo with drink for $7 and change. I should have known it was too good to be true. I got the brisket and sausage, for sides I had the standard slaw, hash browns, and beans. I knew I was in trouble when it came out with the meat soaked in sauce. A place that takes pride in their meat usually at least asks if you want sauce on it. I started in on the sausage and was not at all impressed. It was pretty bland, and I kept finding hard objects as I chewed. On to the brisket. Not much flavor here, either, and I had the same texture issues with the brisket. What the heck could be hard in brisket? It wasn't "bark" from the outside. The sides were similarly uninspiring, the slaw tasted like fresh-cut cabbage with white vinegar, no detectable seasoning. The hash browns were OK, they were a little on the dry side. The beans were bland, once again I could not detect any seasoning. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience. Oh, and when I went to get an iced tea refill, I was charged 50 cents. We went in knowing the reviews were poor. The counter help was polite. We had the chicken fried steak, a chopped sandwich and a rib plate. Everyone said their food was okay. I had the ribs. They tasted boiled. The BBQ sauce was like watered down ketchup. I didn't try the pinto beans. Potato salad was bland. I liked the coleslaw but it has more of a vinegar base just an fyi. Rolls were served in the condiment bar. They were served cold and not enjoyable with the meal. The final nail in the coffin for us was 50 cent refills on tea! That is ridiculous. You need tea to wash down the cold dry bread! We won't be going back. read more

Let me say we wanted to try this place because I see them everywhere. We walked in And it was old smelling. The menu on the wall looked like a church's chicken menu. We ordered no problem. Went to sit down and our food was ready. Great! It was fast. That was the only good thing about the visit. I ordered a chopped beef BBQ sandwich it looked like potted meat on a squashed bun. It tasted the same. I took two bites and walked out. My husband eats anything and hates to waste money and he ate 3 bites and left. I have always had pretty good customer service. But I will tell you that this Bill Millers likes to serve up a plate of fat. If you ask for sauce on the side then you have nice looking brisket on top and sometimes hidden fat underneath. Now that is just wrong.
