Small, good vibe, fast and friendly service, and the seafood is excellent. Oysters are best in town, even better than Clark's. Same with the crab cake. The fries are crisp and hot. Nice place with pleasant atmosphere. Food is a bit underwhelming for the price point. 2 small Mozzarella sticks for $16 feels overpriced, even if a bit of caviar is nestled on them. The Crab BLT calls out the lump crab, but what comes on the sandwich is finely shredded, maybe 3 oz total, overdressed without much flavor. They forgot the bacon on the "B"lt and the artichokes in the Eggs Florentine are undetectable (we were told then were finely blended into the cream spinach). Overall brunch for 4, with only coffee and tea as drinks for $220 including tip felt overpriced. Everything was great until the bartender assumed that just because we were having a touching moment and shedding tears that we were too inebriated and couldn't finish our bottle of wine so he took it without telling us but swore up and down that we finished and even offered us a free cheesecake when we pressed him about the bottle he took. I came here for a light dinner before going to see the bats. The place was packed but I was able to grab a bar seat. I feel like the bar tender/server could have been more attentive or that there should have been another. He seemed to be alone. It was quite loud and the decor was fairly basic. The menu was small and items were pretty pricey so I expected high quality. I LOVE oysters so I got 6. 3 dressed and 3 undressed. I asked for 3 from one area and 3 from another. All 6 ended up being the same oyster (fine. It happens). The undressed ones were fantastic! The dressing on the dressed ones was frozen. I mentioned it only to be told it was supposed to be like that. Weird. Like having snow cone on your oyster. Also got a michelada. It was made with the same mix as a Bloody Mary. That's not a michi. I didn't finish even half. (I was still charged) The saving grace was the scallop ceviche. It was a small portion but lovely! My wife and I love coming in to Bill's. Service is incredibly friendly and helpful each time we've been, the food is super tasty and consistently high quality. The oysters are the freshest we've tried in Austin and the cocktail program is excellent! (All the cocktails on the menu are pre-batched for the most part so they are cold, consistent, and tasty.) I can't express enough how refreshing it is to have a locally owned spot you can just walk in and have a great experience without any of the fuss of making a reservation 2 months in advance. Went there to eat last night. Server said the lobster rolls were big enough to share with an entire lobster in it, so we ordered a couple of dishes and some oysters. The oysters I ate were not good. The first one was decent. The second was meh. The last oyster I ate was rancid. I have been eating raw oysters for many years and I have never had anything like that before. I decided to let the server know. He looked semi concerned and asked me what it tasted like. I told him it tasted rotten, bad...I had to eat some of the lemon to get the disgusting taste out of my mouth. The lobster roll was small. Mostly mayo. The fries were incredible. Crispy, thin, perfectly salted. The spicy marg was delish. Strong and yummy. The entire restaurant was filled with smoke within 15 min of us getting there. My friend and I didn't even consider dessert because the smoke was bothering us. I was disappointed that the server never even offered to take the rancid oyster off of our bill. Went for lunch yesterday as our first visit. I'll begin by saying the food quality was excellent. Really excellent. Hubs had the crab cake ~ he's from New Orleans and quite dismissive of most Austin seafood freshness, but he loved it as well as the accompanying sauce. His only bone to pick was that there was more filling than lump crab. I had the lump crab cocktail and loved every bite. I found the cocktail sauce lacked any umami and a touch too lemony but, to each his own. Criticizing someone's cocktail sauce is like criticizing someone's spaghetti sauce ~ everyone likes it a little differently. On to the 2-star rating... They have absolutely got to get their service Sh&#(! together or this place is not going to make it. It wasn't just our waiter. There seemed to be a complete lack of professionalism overall. I think the whole staff (including management) would benefit from whatever training the Moorman McGuire crew goes through. Since it was our first visit there we had asked 4 different things about menu offerings and our waitered answered "I'm not sure" about 3 of them and "I don't know" about the 4th. I won't go into every painful episode, but it's the main reason we won't gamble another $100 on 2 lunch entrees and 1 cocktail to go back. And we waited 10 minutes after the bill was presented for him to come get it as we watched him laughing and eating in the kitchen. The manager finally looked up from his paperwork and told him to go get it. Minuscule tables. No room for ANYthing. A/C? Is there any? Really? I'm going to say no. Felt like the original Counter Cafe in there. Felt sorry for the kitchen staff. Lack of garage parking validation ~ spent $90 at lunch + another $14 to park for just over an hour. read more

Honestly really cute and yummy spot. I wasn't super hungry so I just ordered the the Caesar salad and side of fries but the salad was perfectly dressed and fries were delicious. I also let my server choose my martini for me and he didn't steer me wrong- it was light and lovely! My friend didn't enjoy her crab cake and the server noticed and took it off the bill without even asking. Dillon also brought us a cheesecake on the house for the troubles- incredible service. And the cheesecake was so good I took a slice to go! Only downfall was it was pretty smoky in there. Eyes were burning a little by the end of the meal, but if they can get that under control then it's a 5 star spot for me.
