I have written over 600 reviews on Yelp and I have NEVER given a 1 star review... UNTIL NOW. I came here after seeing so many great reviews on both Google and Yelp, but was beyond disappointed. Let me take you on this unfortunate journey starting with the food... and I tried a bunch of the items from the set dinner menu (unfortunately)... Crispy Calamari - This was actually not too bad, as they got some decent crispiness on the outside, although there was not much flavor beyond that and it was still grocery store quality. Chicken and Sesame Dumplings - This on the other hand was below grocery store quality. I've literally had better frozen dumplings than this. They were just kinda mushy without much quality stuff inside and the sauce on the side was some weird overly sweet BBQ sauce that totally did not pair with the dumplings at all. Chargrilled Minute Steak - Minute steak? More like half an hour steak considering how tough it was!! Cutting through this thing was an arm workout and attempting to bite through it made my jaw sore. And despite the glob of butter on it, there was zero seasoning or flavor to the steak at all. I feel bad for the poor cow that had to be sacrificed for this! Fish Goujons and Fries - This half empty plate of 4 smallish pieces of fried fish fell victim to the same issues as the calamari. Flavorless and bland, just like the fries that came with it. Black Cherry Chocolate Mousse - After enduring the prior dishes, I felt I had to do myself a favor and treat myself to a dessert. Surely, there was no way they could make a chocolate mousse taste bad right?? Wrong!!! They really defied the odds here by somehow making this mousse so bad that I literally could not eat it - and that is coming from a super non-picky eater who is normally a big fan of chocolate mousse. For some strange reason, they thought it would be a good idea to add salt (yes, salt) to the mousse, and not just a pinch... this thing was saltier than a mouthful of ocean water! They really should've put some of that salt on the steak instead... And to make matters even worse (which I didn't think could be possible), the whole bottom half was filled with some gross cherry sauce that tasted so artificial and like it came straight from a cheap store-bought bottle. We lost 24.50 GBP and 17.50 GBP for these 3-course and 2-course set menus, respectively. Now on to the service... which was no better than the food... From the start, we knew it would be rough when we had to ask our waiter multiple times just to bring us some water. All the while, he was just happily chatting with all the tables around us. When it came to bringing the actual dishes, the service speed was also super slow. At one point, he assured us that the next dish was "on the way", but that was clearly an empty promise based on how long we ended up waiting. When bringing the dessert, he just put down two spoons right on the dirty table. And speaking of dirty items, the water glasses looked quite dirty and I almost wanted to rinse them before drinking from them. As a side note, the ketchup that they brought us (which we had to ask for), seemed very old and liquidy... and it exploded on me after just a bit of a shake beforehand. The interior of the restaurant is the one thing that isn't too bad, as there is actually some decently nice decor and an okay environment. But that does not come close to making up for the rest of the experience... I am honestly shocked at how bad Bill's was. From subpar service to straight up inedible food, it is definitely a place that you should avoid. Trust me. read more

The place is beautiful. Rustic yet very modern look and welcoming vibe to the interiors. The staff is super friendly and warm, however, maybe they are short staffed as it took a while to be able to order, get food or even get the cheque. Went for breakfast. Had their coffee, coffee was good, but a bit colder than what I prefer. I should have maybe asked for extra hot. Had 2 garden breakfasts, one with poached eggs and one with mushrooms instead. The hollandaise sauce was amazing! Their original hot sauce is HOT!! But so good. The poached eggs were perfect, toast super crisp, avocado smash could have been seasoned better. It's tough for me to give a poor review of a place I didn't really get to try. The family and I stopped here after a visit to the observatory. We could tell they were busy, but they promptly seated us and explained the menus. We didn't hear from anyone again for about 15 minutes. No water. No drink orders. No acknowledgment. We noticed that there were a lot of folks waiting for service, bills, food. As we debated amongst ourselves if we should stay, the lady at the table turned to us and said "I wouldn't blame you if you left." So we did. I get that with a pandemic, hiring is tough. Might be worth considering to limit the tables to what someone has staff to handle. A very eclectic menu. Might give it a try the next time we're in town. read more

I was so pleased to see that Bills has opened in Greenwich! It's so close to me now, I can go whenever I want! I introduced my friend to Bills and she loved it. We were given a perfect table upstairs, tucked out the way so it was great to be able to have a chat and catch up without too much interruption. The restaurant space is large and all tables were practically full. I went for the chargrilled paprika and lemon chicken and my friend chose to have two small plates instead of a main dish; calamari and crab and falafel doughnuts?! She loved her dishes, particularly the crab doughnuts. My chicken was really tasty, the coleslaw was delicious, although I would have liked more couscous, it kind of got buried under the slaw and I nearly missed it. The baby kale was also on the sparse side. We both decided to order from the specials menu for dessert and had the honeycomb cheesecake. It was amazing!! Delicious, perfect texture and a great size portion. It also came with chocolate ice cream and banana, which we didn't expect. We were both delighted with the cheesecake, it really made our meal, definitely 5/5! I would go back for that alone. Service was maybe on the slow side, but that kind of suited us as we wanted a catch up. I will definitely be going back! Maybe I will try breakfast next time. read more

Halloumi cheese burger, fantastic (I do love meat, but I love halloumi cheese too). Fish pie, amazing. Kids mac and cheese, wow. Cod and chips, superb with just the right breading that's not greasy. Bill's hard cider, perfect. Bill's IPA, pretty darn good for one of these lower ABV beers in the UK (I'm a Pacific Northwest IPA guy used to about twice the ABV). Staff was great too! read more

Great food Wish I could say the same about the service. There was a long delay (15 min) between appetizer and entree I asked for a drink with my dinner when I ordered, had to wait for that after my entree arrived. Another 5 mins. Then when I asked for the dessert menu I was told to hurry up and choose because the kitchen was closing. Maybe if I didn't have to wait 20 minutes between my app and my dinner it wouldn't have been a problem. To add to it, another table was served well after my dessert arrived. Then I had to wait another 10 mins to pay my bill after I finished dessert. There was a 12.5% service charge on my bill also. My wife and I ate a late breakfast here on a recent trip to the UK and had a wonderful meal. My bacon and egg sandwich was amazing - about half a pound of bacon with a drippy egg on a fresh brioche roll with a hash brown on the side and of course an Americano to sip on. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My wife had a cream tea that she thoroughly enjoyed as well. The scones were fresh, authentic, and tasty. We'll surely be back to Bill's soon. read more

On my first trip to London I heard that I had to try the fish pie at Bills. I am so glad I did it was AMAZING! seasoned well and piping hot ! When we thought things couldn't get better we had the lemon meringue dessert and it was Great it was beautifully presented and tasted awesome it was a perfect ending to a great meal. I have visited the Greenwich location twice in the past 15 months and have enjoyed my experience both times. There is a little bit of everything on the menu and they can provide details on ingredients for all dishes, if needed. Even though this is a chain, it does not feel like corporate cookie-cutter decor. I greatly enjoyed the salted caramel pancake pudding the last time that I was in Greenwich and when I was in today they did not have it as an option and instead offered to sell me an order of pancakes for £9. I never do 5 stars but Bill's earned our love. First really good meal since arriving in the culinary wasteland of the UK. I had the ribs and my wife had the green curry. My family and I came for lunch after visiting the Royal Observatory on a Sunday. The brunch/lunch menu was very appealing. After a comfortable 20 minute wait to get a table - they had seats in the waiting area, we had a chance to admire the eclectic decor. It took another 30 minutes to get our food but the place was packed with seating upstairs as well. The food was delicious and worth the wait! The soup and bread were exceptional.
