I have been here 3 times and have really enjoyed all experiences. However, having said that, it doesn't quite get the full 5*. It's always been very pleasant, but not quite got that wow factor for me. I do like the streak here but have had better for around the same price. The most notable mention regarding the food is actually the Yorkshire pudding with whipped chicken liver starter - I order that every time now! I would still come here again, but would be inclined to try other restaurants that might offer something a little more... Exciting perhaps?

f you are looking for a traditional British meal head over to Hixter on Sunday for Sunday roast. I look forward mostly to my Sunday meal anytime I am in England. Sunday roast is a traditional British meal that is traditionally served on Sunday, consisting of roasted meat, roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. roast parsnips, Brussels sprouts, peas, carrots, and broccoli. Make sure to make reservations in advance as it is not like America where they take many walk-ins.

Got seated right away, quiet night for them on Sunday evening. After reading the Yelp reviews I tried the Yorkshire pudding with chicken liver pate. Two thumbs up! I could eat that pate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My Yorkshire pudding was huge, slightly darker than I'm used to but all very delicious. For my main dish I had the traditional Sunday roast beef with sides of mushroom, peas, and potatoes. I asked for pink, your options are pink or well done. Meat was seasoned well and very tender.

The half roasted chicken and stuffing (to die for!)

Awesome restaurant in the very trendy Bankside neighborhood of London. We happened upon this place while walking to Borough Market and The Shard. Came back tonight for dinner and glad we did. For our starter we had an amazing roasted allium and cheddar croquette, then a tomato salad and for our main course a sirloin steak salad and half herb roasted chicken with stuffing (too die for!!!). I highly recommend this out of the way very hip and trendy foodie restaurant.

The basement has a bar, lounge and restaurant. It was a little noisy. But we could still talk. The roasted scallops were cooked perfectly. The green sauce was tasty. I love the presentation. The Bill Marrow was also good. It was very rich. There were two kinds of Sunday roast a sirloin and a rump. Three of us had the rump roast dinner and three had the sirloin roast dinner. It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast. We got there at three by the time we left around 4:30 some of the roasts were already sold out. Just a note: Sunday roost is usually a late lunch not a dinner. It's good to go between two and four especially if you don't have a reservation.

We dropped by at 5:30pm hoping to be able to eat early, but were told no because they're fully booked all night. I made a reservation back on September 19th, and the best time I could get was 9:30pm. This is the oldest restaurant in London since 1798! I love the old decor and red. Everyone here is dressed up in high heels and lots of the men were in suits. Up first, I had a £18 Espresso Martini! Wow, some of the strongest espresso tasting Martini of all time. If you like thay strong taste you'll love this espresso martini. Next, £8.95 Heritage tomato salad, basil, pickled red onion & toasted pine nuts. Super solid. For the entree we split the £53.50 per person Roast rib of beef for two. The superstar item was for sure the house made horseradish sauce. I could have eaten the sauce all night. We liked the meat too. It came out a perfect medium for us. At the end of the meal they brought me ice cream for my birthday!

It was not a cheap meal, but you're paying for the ambiance, which can be described as museum-like with royal embellishments. There are so many things to look at, from James Bond's seat to the Downton Abbey section. The service was great, and our waitress was entertaining as well as insightful. She even showed us around, pointing out the wall art and other notable items. I'd recommend coming here for a special occasion while in London, it's truly a gem of an experience.

Minced Beef & Onion: The most popular, apparently. Smooth and moist inside with a buttery flaky outside. Steak & Stout: Same great crust, but with a very distinctive inside, chunks of firm roast and thick gravy where you could actually taste the stout. Probably my favorite pie here. Chicken & Mushroom: A nice variation from beef, but by no means lesser. With it's large chunks and umami gravy, this was like a quick hit fix for when craving a proper chicken pot pie. Mash & Gravy: The mash was smooth and buttery. The gravy was more than plentiful. Kinda lives under the shadow of the delicious pies though. Sticky Toffee Pudding: Good, but not great. The toffee sauce felt a bit too thick and wasn't as warmed as I like it. The sponge cake was alright, but kinda dry, like they just plopped into the toffee sauce puddle. But it did do a good job of soaking up the sauce with a little spoon dexterity.

I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!)
