The staff was polite and knowledgeable, if the person that was helping me (Brett I think) didn't know that answer he didn't make one up he asked the busy gentleman in the back that was doing a lot of opening of boxes of new product. He took a break and came out to make sure Brett and I were getting what I needed. I believe his name was Ben and while he was helping us he helped the other employee with out missing a beat, very good at multitasking and a lot of knowledge. There were a ton of people at the gun range midday weekend. We were still able to get in and check it out. Wow! Some of you guys have given these guys a good blasting! (Pun most certainly intended). I have been to Bill's location in Hudson WI twice in the past month and I have been really impressed! I imagined a gun range to be dirty and grubby, poorly lit and falling apart at the seems. Like an old golfing driving range. This place is immaculate. There is a large seating area with high tables and chairs if you want to sit and talk shop with your buddies. There are loads of great guns in stock, both new and used. Loads of great accessories from gun parts to cleaning kits to gun and ammo storage to clothing. There are also very clean bathrooms and a vending machine or two. Isn't that awesome?! Everything you could expect from a decent "club house". This is all before we get to the shooting range itself which is.... AWESOME! Again very clean, new finishings, a decent length / distance and so far I've never had to wait for a spot. Plus $20 per non-member, $7 for members per visit (NOT per hour, per VISIT). What can you complain about!!? The folks working there have been very polite and helpful. I haven't tried to test their knowledge of firearms but they seem to know their ammunition and their accessories. I'm sure their knowledge of firearms can't be that different. Most of all this place feels SAFE. The other customers have been really friendly, there are couples, buddies, there was even a small family there this evening. The ONLY downside is the cost of the ammo they stock but really, who cares?! Bring your own! They allow you to. There's even a Walmart next door which sells pretty cheap ammo. EASY. Come on you guys - be fair. Give these guys another chance, the quality, cleanliness and security of the facilities is deserving of another try alone. I'll be back again and again. Over a period of time I purchased two shotguns for trap and a pistol from Bill's. It never ceases to amaze me how much better the buying experience has been over buying from the big box stores. No BS. Just last Saturday, I stopped in at Bill's Guns in Hudson, WI to look at guns. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. But to "shop around" I headed off to Cabela's to see what they had. I didn't like the experience at all. Not going to go into it, but let me just say there's no comparison in the level of service. For once, buying local is by far the better option. They gave us a free range pass for one session with the purchase of the gun - a $20 value. read more

Went to their gun range in Hudson, WI today. There is a sign on the front door requiring a face mask. There were four people not wearing a mask. Two people without face masks were less than 6 feet of other customers shooting. We spoke to the employee at the front counter and he said that they don't enforce the mask rule. read more

Long story. I bought a gun about a month ago and had to be shipped to MN for pick up. They said call back in 2days to check. I called and was told it wasn't there and the guy (joe) didn't bother to attempt to find out what the issue was. I went there to pick it up the next day and they said I needed to bring my permit to purchase even though I already got it paid and copied at the WI location. So I had to go back home and get that along with my green card. Got back there and they did background check and STILL couldn't get it. I had to wait another 2 days to get it. Even after I picked it up, they asked for my permit to purchase for a 3rd TIME! HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION on their part! Fast forward a month later, my gun starts malfunctioning. BRAND NEW GUN with less than 159 shots! I take it there and dropped it off. They called me and said "you have to hold your gun tight, and the trigger will reset". THAT'S THE STUPIDEST ADVISE EVER! I held it tight cock the gun and it still didn't reset the gun. So the sell guy tells me he just tells me what he was told! They take my gun for a good 45mins, couldn't fix the damn thing and treks me they'll call me when it's fixed. Keep in mind every one of these trips to bills is not a short drive by any means, 5 trips total! (3 at Robbinsdale, 2 at Hudson). So I go back and pick it up the next day and it's fixed. They said they had to bend something to make it functional. Today I went to cabela's, and this gun shop 2 blocks from me. They had the same gun for $30 cheaper. Moral of the story: 1) their location is far 2) it is overpriced 3) customer service guys sounds like they're friendly but in truth, very dishonest and just want you to get the heck out of their faces 4) they should've just given me brands new replacement I'm only going to go there again because I have one free gun range coin out of this then never again. read more

"A good time was had by all"! During a recent visit with family in Wisconsin, we stopped at Bill's Gun Shop & Range. Roy (an Afgan vet) was exceptionally helpful. He patiently showed us the store's vast inventory, imparting his very detailed knowledge of every item we were handed. He did so knowing that since I was visiting from out-of-state, I would not be able to make a purchase that day. However my son-in-law, a Wisconsin native from a family of experienced gun owners was also very impressed with the store, the range and most especially Roy. The price for the use of the range was reasonable - and to our disbelief, for that price we could have stayed there the entire day! The store has a number of pistol "brands" that you can rent ($15 for the whole day) to try out at the range before you decide on a purchase - and they will credit you the rental cost(s) if you purchase a new pistol at any time (just save your receipts)! My only regret is I don't have an opportunity to visit Wisconson, and Bill's Gun Shop, more often. read more

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their products and merchandise. Targets look great and are priced good, and the price alone to shoot there isn't too bad either. Only gripe is that they'll get their panties in a bunch if you shoot too fast. I bought a very expensive rifle there and it turns out it was a complete lemon. I have begged and pleaded for them to fix the problem one way or another and nothing happened. Even their crummy magazine they sold were junk. Also by the way this was not my first firearm. I will never purchase so much as a set of ear plugs there. The utmost respect for the entire staff at Bills! I have been hesitant about shooting for awhile now, but decided to pull the trigger (pun intended) this weekend. I was EXTREMELY nervous upon arrival but Blaine was very helpful in choosing a good option for my first gun. He showed me everything from start to finish, how to stand, etc. Even the guys on the lanes were super helpful. They didn't make fun of me (maybe they did, who knows), but I knew they could sense I was new and nervous. When I returned the gun to try out a different one, Rob was very nice. He asked very specific questions about what I was looking to shoot and helped me pick out my second rental. Every gun is different (which I knew, but didn't know) in how you load it. He again explained everything from start to finish, including stance, etc. The gun shop was busy, and I really appreciated him taking his time with me!! He even checked back while we were looking in the shop. Randy was the last man who helped me, and he had a ton of knowledge about finding the right gun, how it feels, etc. I really liked the fact that they took care of and answered all of my, seemingly daunting, questions. Lots of parking which is always a plus! Very large facility - bright and open! The staff is super friendly and are by the book. They absolutely make sure safety is first! Rates are very fair! They get you in very fast! As for the shooting lanes - they are kind of cramped and dark. But other than that, everyone follows the rules and are super considerate of one another! read more

Brought my SKS to the smith once because it wasn't cycling properly. Got a call back that the smith couldn't do anything with it, despite his 20 years of gunsmithing experience. Went back to Bill's to pick it up and the staff mocked me, saying I purchased a lemon. Went home, researched the issue, bought a replacement gas valve for $20 and the gun has worked fine ever since. The manager here is an idiot. In a packed store he interupts my business with the salesman to put me on blast about my bullpup. Asks me if its of legal length. I told him it was, only for him to argue what the legal shotgun length mins were, not rifle. then he says he doesnt care if i shoot it there but it might be illegal. It was only an issue because he didnt know the law. Not to mention someone right in front of me returned a rifle they rented to a girl, it got "inspected" and put on the shelf...luckily the second kid putting it back in the case double checked it because it was still loaded!!! The dude looked like he was gonna kill someone and this girl couldnt care less. She was young, mustve been the owners family.
