So, I went a little out of my way to stop by this store. The store is in a mall, but it's not your typical store. This store DOES have some beautiful clothing. If you are an outdoor person, you will find some great gear here. They had tons of nice winter/snow jackets. The woman working here was also very nice. She noticed that I had a NAU down jacket on, and she pointed me to some of her favorite NAU products. I do have to say, the stuff here can be pricey. I was actually looking for a "sale" section, but the woman said they don't have "sale" items here. She did mentioned that if you fill out a postcard sign-up, they would send you a notice of when they have an End Of Season 40% Off sale. She says this is when it can get super crazy in here. Anyway, I didn't want to leave empty-handed. I ended up picking up some Smart Wool socks, and was on my way.

I recently experienced some sharp pain of unknown origin in my left foot while walking. it would…read morecome and go intermittently, especially when I was walking on the indoor track at the gym I belong to. I decided to see a Podiatrist, hoping I might learn the cause of this pain. Unfortunately, the doctor's examination couldn't positively identify the cause. He suggested that I try different walking shoes and/or some support shoe inserts. He gave me a list of some sport shoe retailers in the Twin Cities. I spent some time online checking out the list. One of the retailers listed was Gear Running Store. I was impressed with their website and decided to give them a call. I spoke to Maggie (a co-owner) and told her my story. She offered some suggestions and also invited me to visit her at the store. I took her up on her invitation and stopped by the next day. She was very generous with her time and gave me her undivided attention. She had me try out several different types of shoe inserts and also several different brands and types of shoes, all in an effort to find a possible solution to my mysterious foot pain problem. We were able to narrow the field down to a pair of Altra running/walking shoes that I tried out in the store. She then suggested that I also try them out for a few days on the track at my gym for a few days. Then, if they don't work out for any reason, I can return them for a refund. So, I tried them out at the track three times (I was careful to only wear the shoes while on the track). After the trial, I found that theses shoes were comfortable in some respects but they really didn't have any more impact on reducing the foot "pain" than my regular shoes did. So, I brought them back to the store (along with the original box and packing material) and turned them in to Paul (store owner). He was very pleasant and accommodating and promptly refunded my purchase. So, in the end, while these folks didn't make a sale in this case, they did gain a very appreciative customer who values great service from true professionals. I know where to find them when I'm in need of new shoes in the future. I will also be happy to recommend them to my family and friends. Thank you Maggie and Paul! David R. They have cute candy jars full of candy for free. Pink jellybeans, pink chocolate candy and red licorice while you shop. An annoying thing was some of the price tags were missing and no prices. They go to buying shows in Las Vegas to get clothes. I tried on a sweater wrap and it just wasn't me. I was confused about these jeans with a thick band at waist and asked if they were maternity jeans. I was told they weren't. They were originally $99 and half price $49.50. I kinda liked them but will save my money for miss me's or similar jeans. Most clothes were $99 each. I did buy a scarf for $18 which was on clearance. I really don't know if I'll return, prices were full on retail and no good deals. I'm middle class not rich.

However; I also love coming randomly throughout the year to get updated clothing items. I typically like to check out under Armour and Nike, the Columbia store also has a separate outlet location as well. Recently, I feel like prices haven't been nearly as good as they used to, but in this economy, who can blame them. I would love to see a little bit more variation in the food court, it's mostly Asian cuisines and Cinnabon. All delicious but would love to see some more options. There's a ton of parking, but if you come on a busy weekend, you may not notice and still have to park far away. Bummed to see some recent retailers, leaving, they've been replaced with stores that my opinion were is great. Overall, a decent shopping trip, it's also in a great location. There's plenty of other stores/eating nearby. I recommend checking out the Twin Cities premium outlets if you haven't been there before.
