A few weeks ago my girlfriend took her car in to get the switch for her power seats repaired. When I called, the guy who picked up (I assume it was Bill) was really helpful and accomodating. He even offered to check it free of charge the same day if we brought it in by the afternoon! She brought it in the next day and Bill checked it out. We thought it was the motor, which it luckily wasn't because that would of been really expensive. Bill's Shop is the only place I have been genuinely convinced from the beginning of our conversation to the end that he valued my business, my time, and my vehicle. I live in Santa Barbara, CA, but I grew up in Fairfield. A few times a year, I go home to visit family, and Its about a 5 1/2 to 6 hour drive when I do. I was up this past weekend and ran into some trouble. I go to turn on my truck, and it wont turn over. Panic instantly sets in. Its a Sunday afternoon, and I am supposed to drive 6 hours at 9 am tomorrow to make it back in time for work. So I start to look at my options, and just place a call to Bill's Shop and end up leaving a message. I figure, worst case scenario, I wait until the late afternoon to get on the road (hopefully) and head out once I can get it going. Not a half hour after leaving a message on the shop answering machine, Bill calls us back, on a Sunday afternoon at that. I was shocked. He said he opens at 8 am the next day, and to come by and he would take a look. Whew. That eases my mind. I'm going to make it home ok. Now I just hope it won't kill me on labor and costs. I show up at 8 am sharp, and Bill has a diagnostic running on my truck a few minutes later. Figures it out quickly, and gets to work finding a part. Two minutes later, Bill comes out and says "Part is on its way, I'll have you out of here in less than an hour." Again, shocked. Is this a normal auto shop? Its 8:13 am and you already know what to do, and have someone bringing the part over? I was expected the run of the mill.. "should be a few hours until we can have someone look at it, then figure out where to go from there." None of that jazz. Bill don't play games. So we leave, get some coffee, and head back to pick it up. I'm waiting for the damage. It has to be expensive right? There's no way you can fix a problem with a car in under an hour that needs a part I cant pronounce AND still have it be cheap right? WRONG. $135 out the door. Again, utterly shocked. Bill's Shop is the type of place I enjoy supporting and will continue to do business with, whenever I get the chance. Thank you Bill. Go to Bill's, don't be a dope. Took my Subaru Outback in to the Fairfield dealership for recall work and a oil change. They then called and informed me that the car required $4,400 of repairs that "Need Immediate Attention" in bolded red. I was skeptical, so took it to Bill's, it did require some coolant hoses to be replaced and a fan belt to be replaced. All in all, the car required ~$275 of work...out the door, and he stayed late for us to pick it up.....great, honest service, to say the least. read more

Bill's Shop is the BEST mechanic shop in All of Solano Country. My Cadillac DeVille has been leaking oil and overheating for months. After taking my car to several different mechanics ( including) the dealership, and having almost every part replaced, ( water pump, hoses, thermostat, radiator, cap, etc) it continued to leak. I took my car to Bill's Shop and it hasn't leaked since. It was the fan. The fan wasn't turning, therefore causing the car to overheat. Duh, Wow!!! We have been taking our cars to Bill for years, and what a find he was via word of mouth. Bill is very personable yet professional. He's quick to find a problem and take care of it. Not hype. I came to bills because of the yelp reviews and was not disappointed. Even though they had to send bearing hub off to machinist, the price was still very reasonable to other mechanics in the Fairfield area and thousands of dollars of savings compared to the dealer. They were able to accommodate me the week I called and were done with the work within a couple of hours. I went in today for a much stupider reason and bill helped me out right then and there and only charged me for the part. I highly recommend Bills shop. read more

Was driving up from San Jose, CA to go visit family in Oregon. It was 104 degrees outside and my A/C decided to go out during traffic. I stopped to use the restroom and get something to drink. So I called bills shop to check for a power loss issue. First told me it was goi bf to be 50 dollars. I called then and some girl picks up and says it's now 100. So I told her that someone earlier quoted me 50. We ended up agree on the 50. Took my car in to the shop and the owner comes up and we discuss the problem. We test drive the car long story short he did not pull and thing out for diagnostics. Did not check vacuum, fuel pressure. I want him to check if i had a restricted exhaust or intake as well. These would be things to check for checking a power loss issue. However what I got was his opinion and a charge of 30 dollars. No tests were ran or any thing. Bunch of bs.
