I'm sorry, people of Green Valley, Cordelia, and Suisun. I have done you a disservice by not writing this review sooner. I need to clear my conscience and share my experience with this auto shop. I'm a car guy. I love cars and have had the pleasure of owning a fair share of them. Driving a well sorted, high performance car on a racetrack is one of my passions. In that environment and at the limit, you know the importance of your car's reliability. A mechanical failure will, at least, end your day prematurely, with threats of more disastrous outcomes ever present. That is why I have had only 2 auto mechanics that I've trusted with all of my automobiles in my 34 years of driving. This brings me to Cordelia Automotive. We were going out of town for vacation when I discovered the AC wasn't blowing cold. I had a hunch that it was something simple like the AC system needing a recharge or a leak in one of the refrigerant lines. Unfortunately, my mechanic was also on vacation, so I turned to Yelp. CA looked promising, so I scheduled a service. Orlando seemed like a standup guy and his shop was well reviewed. I explained my situation and thought the issues would be resolved expediently. I get a call later and he explains that my AC condenser pump is shot and needs replacing. I give him the green light to replace it with his assurance that he's 99% certain that that's the problem. Oh, well, parts fail. Totally understandable. I go to pick up the car and he says that the issue is not resolved. He suspects an electrical issue and it could be another $800 or more to trace down the problem. I look at him, pay him for services rendered, and tell him that I'll deal with it. A little bit about me. I'm an engineer. It's my job to find and fix problems. I just don't work on cars for lack of interest and even less available time. I got the car home and looked under the hood. Sure, he installed the pump as suggested, but the electrical lead was unplugged and conveniently tucked away, hidden from view, and zip tied to an adjacent tube. Do you think that THIS might be why the AC is still not working?!? I don't care if he is friendly or if his shop is clean or if he "does good work" or your Aunt Sally thinks the world of him. The only thing that I expect is that you do the job that you're paid to do with honesty and integrity. Your customers shouldn't have to check up on your work to make sure that you know what you're doing and are not trying to bleed them for more money. Resolution: I took my car to my mechanic a couple weeks later and explained what happened. He plugged in the disconnected lead and found a $10 switch relay that failed. AC fixed. Now, this was my experience with Cordelia Automotive. Yours may be different. In fact, I hope that it is. I just know that I WILL NEVER VISIT NOR RECOMMEND CORDELIA AUTO AGAIN and will caution all of my friends, relatives, acquaintances, and anyone that will listen to do the same. I'm writing my review not for the work that was done but because of the honesty of the owner. Unfortunately my Kia threw a rod a busted two holes in the engine. The owner was honest and said that right now he would t be able to do it, due to trying to the parts being difficult to get right now. Went there to get a new lightbulb system put in for my fog lights for my truck. Truth be told the part I had would not work with the parts that needed to be in there. He took a look at the truck like he promised in the email give me his honest assessment wrote it out, and didn't charge me for the time it took. So I cannot vouch for his mechanical work, but I can vouch for his honesty, and that is greatly appreciated. read more

Our car overheated while driving from Reno to San Francisco and died in Fairfield around 9pm. Not being from the area, we were at the mercy of local businesses and couldn't use our regular mechanic back home. I checked reviews here and hoped those for Cordelia Automotive were accurate. We had the car towed there in the middle of the night and I went back the next morning to get the ball rolling. Orlando made me feel at ease immediately. We talked at length about my vehicle's past history and current problems. And it was clear that he not only knows his cars, but he knows how to take care of customers as well. I left it with him to diagnose and had zero concerns that I would be treated fairly. As it turns out, my vehicle's problems stemmed from a known issue with Honda engine blocks. And it was covered under a factory recall. As much as I would have liked to have Orlando do the work, it needed to head to a dealership for the recall process. So I went back to settle up for the diagnostics and arranged a tow to the dealer. From start to finish, I felt like I was taking my car to a trusted friend rather than "some random place I found on the internet". And I have to say, you folks that live in the Fairfield area are blessed to have Cordelia Automotive as an option. Less than 15% of my reviews get 5 stars. But Orlando would have gotten 6. I found Orlando because of reviews I saw on my Next Door Neighbors page.I had another quote already when I approached Orlando about my auto's problem. He took the time to show me the cheap way which was a gamble or the way it should be done and his price for doing it the correct way was about $400.00 cheaper than the other quote. He also found a problem that some previous mechanic had mismanaged and charged me for just the parts at no labor cost. I trust Orlando to do the right thing and be fair to his customers. My experience with mechanics hasn't been all that great! I always feel like I've been burnt, or as if some how the mechanic got over on me. This guy is great! He really takes his time to explain why and what your car needs and what he has to do to fix it. It is a bit far but hey if you want the service you pay and go to the service. read more

A few years ago, I had difficulty changing the oil filter on my car so I told myself what the hell, I'll just bring it to Cordelia Automotive and get my oil changed there from now on. The mechanic here is very laid back, a man of few words but very straight forward. I began providing him my own oil filters since I preferred OEM parts for my vehicle. I said to him it's very hard to find a mechanic that I can trust to do the job right these days. I'm glad you're here. I must have spoke too soon. A year and a half goes by, and after having Cordelia Automotive do my oil changes(which must have been about 3-5) I decide to do my oil change on my own again. As I attempt to remove the oil filter, it seems stuck. For some reason, I can't seem to get it off. Then I realize something very suspicious. The oil filter is black. All the oil filters I have been bringing to Cordelia Automotive the entire time were blue. The same old oil filter that was stuck on my car, is still on! It was never replaced. I head to the local auto parts store and get a special tool to remove the filter. With a little work and shimmying, I get it off. The oil that pours out is sludgy, dark and thick. It's hard to tell if the oil was ever replaced the last 18,000 miles. I purchased my vehicle brand new. In the last few years, my vehicle has had numerous head gasket issues. Overheating, leaking head gaskets, leaking cam seals, fuel cut valves on top of fuel tank cracked. All of which have been replaced by the dealership, but was not cheap. I take good care of my vehicles and am very particular in keeping them serviced on time. I cannot attribute the engine failings to the neglect in oil service, but I am sure it provided added stress to the engine. I don't see myself coming back here for any type of service, even an oil change. It seems others have found success with this facility, but unfortunately for me, I was deceived. I'm pretty handy at most repairs (even building my own engines from time to time), but I've been bringing my cars here for service I don't have the tools or time to do myself since 2006. I can't believe I haven't written a review before. Orlando is as honest as they come. He'll tell you when he knows, and when he doesn't. If he can do it, he'll find a way. He's also not afraid to tell you when something isn't something he's comfortable with. He's tracked down suspension problems, alignments, motor issues, a/c problems and fuel pumps for me over the years. I trust him with regular maintenance and problems a like. I have been taking my vehicles to Orlando for several years now. He is always fair, he is honest and up front when the issue is something not in his wheel house, and I have always gotten my vehicle back by the time promised, if not earlier. My most recent visit had to do with the fact our vehicle would not come out of Park unless we stuck a screwdriver into a gap near the gear shift. My Google searches showed it could be a number of issues, some of which were very expensive. Orlando called me a couple of hours after I dropped the car off and told me it was fixed; it was a blown fuse. He further told me which fuse it was, where it was located, and labeled it in case this ever happens again. I only paid the price for the diagnostic. Great customer service! read more

Great service, great prices! I sometimes feel that mechanics take advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. Not here! He takes the time to explain everything, and never tries to force a service upon you. He simply recommends something, and has even referred me to another shop (the dealer) when he doesn't have the answer. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of.
