What a way to see Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden! This was my first time. I'm not a New Yorker. I'm from the Midwest. Madison Square Garden is a lovely venue. It's clean, organized, and every employee from the woman in the restroom to the ushers was friendly and lovely. The sound, lights, and video portions of the production are all first class. We saw Billy Joel last night and thought he was great! He plays all of his old hits and has a ton of energy still in his performance! I liked his sense of humor too joking about having nothing new. MSG is crowded, exiting is a shitshow (they shut down the escalators), and the seats are kind of uncomfortable. Our seats behind the stage were a good deal though and most importantly Billy Joel was great! He even had ZZ Top come and do a duet which was a welcome surprise. Fun time! read more

Wow. Just wow. Billy Joel will set a Record-Breaking 50th consecutive MSG Show March 28, 2018. When he first set up shop in MSG, my wife said we should go! I said, lets wait until the masses see his show and when the tickets are more available. No such luck, Billy Joel has been selling out tickets to every single show. I figured, let me bite the bullet and score tickets for my wife's birthday and we'll make a weekend out of it. If you live in Long Island (Like me) Billy Joel is a permanent figure. I remember walking in Sag Harbor years ago and seeing him walking with a woman. I was pushing a baby carriage, he nodded and I nodded, which I thought was cool. Over the years, I've seen him play in Jones Beach as well as Foxwood casino. Nothing, NOTHING can compare to the show at MSG. Why? Because those other venues don't have the theatrics of Madison Square Garden. MSG is large and in charge, the venue was made for Billy Joel. Over the summer, I saw Paul McCartney play at Nassau Coliseum. During the performance, Billy Joel came on stage!! We were so stoked, Billy Joel rocking it with Paul McCartney. Very cool. Our experience was better. We are escorted to our floor seats and have a great view of the stage. No opening acted needed, wait a second! Is that Michael DelGuidice the lead vocalist and pianist for the Long Island band Big Shot?? He's playing rhythm guitar and is background vocalist? More on that later. Billy comes out and brings the crowd into a frenzy with his classic songs. He's singing like I'm listening to an album! After every other song, he starts talking about the next two albums and a funny back story. It was like going through the chapters of my youth. All of a sudden, he says: I'd like to introduce Mick Jones and Lou Gramm to the stage. For those of you who don't know, dude, its the founding members of Foreigner! The light show and songs were insane!!! Billy Joel says peace out after their set and the a singer starts singing Italian Opera. Billy Joel is playing the piano, its mass hysteria. Who is singing but Long Islands own (Miller Place actually) Michael DelGuidice! What a talent! We left the show flying, what an amazing opportunity to see this show. Everyone is at the height of their game, at 69 years old Billy Joel is not slowing down. I highly recommend this show, a must see. read more

Always a good show. 3rd time for his residency. This time sat in $95 seats behind stage (then add $35 fees). Actually an excellent view. You do miss the stage screen projections as seen by other side. You'll get some images but not at all what the other side sees. However you have an excellent close proximity view point as Billy and piano rotate through the show and it is always turning towards the rear stage area. read more

We all came here tonight (2100 +) as an anniversary treat from my company. The place was what I was expecting- packed and filled up with all Billy Joel fans. It was kind of rainy so people came a little later. The concert was 10 minutes delayed BUT it's worth the wait ...... the concert was awesome - he still is amazing even though he doesn't move much anymore. He stayed most of the time on his piano. I like that they made his piano seat rotating from time to time that gave everybody the chance to see him in different angle. He did sing all his hits, every single one. In the beginning of the segment, he repeatedly gave the audience choices between songs then he sang what majority wanted to listen. The PIANO MAN was my favorite wherein he let the audience sang the end chorus part. What interesting was his long Encore- we didn't expect that it was coming. There were screens that you could see a close-up view of him and the others during the entire program. It helped a lot especially for those seated on the very top level. Sound and lighting and backdrop were great. It felt magical to all avid fans, whether for the first timers or repeated viewers. It was an entertaining night even for those that are not fans and came for the sake of watching the concert. We had good seats. Not close enough but not far as well. The view was not blocked and it was a straight-up section. Thanks to my company's generosity. The Garden is a well recommended concert ground (no doubt as proven by years!). read more

I took my mom to go see the Billy Joel concert last Friday since she's a fan. I bought the tickets back in February on Ticketmaster's website during the day tickets went on sale to the public. I highly recommend buying tickets the first day since it will sell out a few hours later. Our seats were pretty good and we were able to see Billy Joel. We sat on a side angle and it's an open stage view. But, there were thick long wires that kinda blocked our view. The section where Billy Joel played the piano did a 360 degree rotation from time to time - which was pretty neat and everyone could see him play. There were some small screens for fans to view the concert. Overall, the concert was pretty awesome. A lot of the songs were before I was born. LOL! At least, I knew some of his classic and popular songs that he performed such as: My Life, The Longest Time, New York State of Mind, She's Always a Woman, Piano Man, Uptown Girl, and You May Be Right. My mom was a bit upset that he didn't play these two songs: Just the Way You Are and Honesty. Billy Joel also played some Halloween jingles tunes during the concert too. I'm not sure what can be said about Billy Joel that hasn't already been said a million times before. Amazing. My girlfriend got me tickets to see him at MSG for our anniversary. We had seen him previously at Nats Park in D.C. but this was obviously a step up, given the venue. Billy Joel, of course, freakin' killed it. He played for about 2.5 hours, alternating between old hits and riffing off of popular Christmas songs. He's a genius. Period. Obviously you'd expect the musicians that play with him to be of the highest caliber. They were incredible. Not much more to add on to that. If you're a Billy Joel fan or if you just enjoy seeing shows in MSG, this is a show you have to see before the Piano Man hangs up his keys. read more

If he sang We Didn't Start the Fire, I would have been super impressed, but he didn't. When you go to a Billy Joel concert, you will be experiencing a legend of rock n' roll. Our show was Billy's record breaking show for sold out performances at MSG for a solo artist. Watching Billy at MSG is like watching all of the NYC local sports teams playing each other at home. It was just a relaxing rocking experience. Billy is at home and is loving every minute of it. He still has his chops and looks like he can go another 20 years! The benefit of not having any new material in 20+ years is that everyone at the show knows all of his material and can and will sing for him. OMG!!! I have always LOVED Billy Joel, but seeing him LIVE was the BEST Concert I've ever experienced!!! Mind you I was born in the 70s, I still grew up listening to him bc my Mom has his collection from 8 track then to cassettes I bought and of course having his Greatest Hits Vol 1& 2 on cds. I now stream his channels on iHeartRadio & Pandora. I just can't explain how AMAZING he sounds in person as he sang his hit songs!! My hubby hit it out of the ballpark for me by taking me to see Billy! This was our 1st visit to Madison Square Garden. We had floor seats in section B. We weren't too fond of the Garden, it had a funky smell and if you're short like me, it's not set up great to see him when you have ppl that are extremely tall in front of you. Plus it was $27 for 2 drafts. Holy Cow!!! So 5+ STARS for Billy Joel and his AWESOME Performance. I LOVE him even more now!!! For Madison Square Garden, 2.5 stars bc of what I stated above. When you can see an artist that plays music from his entire career of over 40 years and have all ages dance and sing along - you're doing it right...and let me tell you - Billy Joel is doing it right!! Great show, great set, great band, great audience...you get the point. Another cool thing Billy Joel does is give the audience what he calls a "fielders choice". He'll pick 2 songs off of a particular album and give the crowd the chance to pick which they'll play next. It keeps the crowd engaged and shows what a talented band is backing him, too. Speaking of that - his backing band is pretty awesome! The only hang up I had (with the venue, not the concert) was how crazy high prices were. 2 beers for my wife and I was $27.50. Yikes!! These have been the BEST seats I've ever had section 101 was able to get these via presale. Loved how he had his certain song setup but then had audience participation by giving us a choice between 2 songs per album. Crowd was super involved singing the whole night. Foreigner was the guest performers. He did announce his 53rd show which would be coming up this was his 48th show. Mike Delguidice did a phenomenal job when he performed his opera song. We had seats behind the stage which gave us a great, unobstructed view, very close to the stage! This was my first Billy Joel concert and he did not disappoint. Even in his relative old age, Billy Joel manages to put on a good show!! The crowd goes nuts and sings along when he plays all of his fantastic classics. He takes a lot of audience requests as well. Let me start off by saying that I have always been a huge Billy Joel fan. Despite this I left halfway through the concert last night. Whoever does the light show should be fired. Nobody enjoys watching a concert with huge powerful spotlights shining in their face. To top that it's coming from the very place where you want to see. You cannot see the stage very well despite $400 tickets. If not for the spotlight shining in my face I would have enjoyed the concert. But because of the lights I have to give it one star. This was my first Billy Joel concert. Concert was supposed to start at 8, began at 8:26pm. No opening act because Billy doesn't need one. He has enough songs for more than 2.5 hrs. Billy sang non stop without a break. Don't even think he had a drink of water. His voice sounded so clear. The band was superb and he even highlighted a few key members,singing and playing their instruments. Special guest star, Itzhak Perlman, who played the violin while Billy performed two songs. Show was 2 hrs then a 25 min encore performance. One of the best concerts I've seen in a long time. Billy still got it at 70 years old!! His concert is a must see!! read more

For a long time, Billy Joel has been one of the best all around entertainers in the music business. Even though he doesn't move around like he used to, he can still sing all his songs and sounds fantastic. Any Billy Joel concert you go to will be fun (provided you are even half-interested in his music), but to be able to catch him during his MSG residency is a must-do for any Billy fan. Even from the side stage and back stage sections, the views are great with minimal obstruction, and he (along with the band) make sure everyone can see them. Honestly one of the best concerts I have ever attended if not the best. Amazing how Billy Joel had both young and old dancing and singing along to all of his classics. Husband surprised me with great tickets and we had a great time. Billy performed for about 2 and half hours. His witty remarks and insights on how he came up with his hits were a highlight. Billy introduced his whole band and even had them perform some solo time. His roadie performing "highway to hell" was awesome. If you are on the fence just go. Last night (February 20, 2020) was the fourth time I've seen Billy Joel in concert. My husband and I took our 4 kids (ages 8,11, 14,16) to the show as a Christmas gift. We were really disappointed that he played 7 covers-what a waste! He has so many amazing songs why play other artist's stuff?? Only because no stars isn't an option. In the VERY fine print is says postponed concert are not eligible for refund. So in a time of pandemic and national emergency Billy Joel doesn't cancel concerts he just "postpones" them....often more than a year in advance. So no refunds allowed. Billy and TM get to keep the money when millions are suffering. I'll never buy from TM again or see another Billy Joel concert if they don't step up and do the right thing. Our daughters in their 20's were with him from the very first note. Great songs that we grew up on delivered by a gifted musician PLUS a band that can just play anything. 2+ hrs and loved every minute of it. Plus the MSG was packed floor to ceiling.
