Kinda threw me off, and then he handed me the menu. This gave me the implication that he's really only familiar with the ones on the menu. So then we decided to start easy with the beer and tequila shot combo. I asked for them chilled and instead of shaking them he stirred it which ended up taking longer but hey to each their own I guess. We also got a shot of amaro and he didn't seem to know which ones they carried so we had to point out to him which ones we wanted since they were on the wall behind him. Once we got our drinks, he proceeded to eat empanadas right in front of us. I get it, you gotta eat but I don't ever think it's good optics for anyone in service to be eating directly in front of their guests, especially at a very small bar. If anything, you step away and take a few bites and come back. At one point I went to use the bathroom and on my way back to the bar I asked the DJ if he took any requests. He firmly said "NO" and not in like a nice way, I mean we were the only people in the bar so we thought he could possibly play something upon request but it was a hard no. It's NYC so even when you participate in the live experience it may seem awkward that an actor is making a scene (literally) on the streets of NYC but nobody bats an eye cause weirdness can feel normal on the streets of Manhattan. Accomplice still has the typical tour around the small area of the city where you interact with amazing actors and make your way to the grand finally where you share a simple drink with your group to celebrate your accomplishment. The staff do offer a hotline to get clues if you are stuck but thankfully my group was witty enough to figure out our way through our adventure. Accomplice is also great for corporate team building activities. I've raved about this experience at my office for years and one of my teams decided to book with the show. Not only did my office team have an amazing time but buzz is going around the office about this show that another team was considering booking but business guests thought it would be too cold in November for such an event; such party poopers! This Broadway play does not play John Williams' film score "Hedwig's Theme" as I had desirable hoped. I do believe in magic. I saw Tom Felton perform his originated role as Draco Malfoy from the film franchise. As per "New York Theatre Guide" Tom Felton reprise his role as Draco Malfoy now through January 3, 2027! Run time: 2 hours and 55 minutes, with one intermission. One word: WOW! The narrative was at first somewhat difficult to follow especially the Time-Turner Effect scenes of what exactly did Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy changed or prevent from occurring? The set design, staging for quickly moving set, props by swirling long robes without revealing stage hands' faces, costumes are great and resonantly brought the viewer into J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter world as an adult nineteen (19) years after J.K. Rowling's final novel, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The special effects including character swap Polyjuice Potion, including Dementors menacing floating near the audience and aerialist stunts in duels were amazing. I particularly like the special effects from Time-Turner for use of projection mapping high-powered projectors cast warping, liquid-like visual distortions; acoustic design low-frequency sound waves and the entire set appear to bend, stretch, and ripple effect like a disturbed puddle reverberating into the auditorium. The clocks placed in the corners of the stage spun rapidly. WOW. Voldemort's half-daughter leaves "invisible" scribbles on a bookshelf to be decoded by a black light above the audience visible on the ceiling and balcony facade projected throughout the auditorium walls in an eerie shade of green which garnered a lot of oohs from the audience including myself. Hot air emitting from Scorpius' ears after he eats candy is very amusingly humorous. The narrative does include and bring back old characters as the cruel villain, apathetic Dolores Umbridge and the wailing angst Moaning Myrtle and Cedric Diggory. Moaning Myrtle's costume was not true to the book as her hair is not in pigtails and she is not wearing the Hogwarts uniform. Draco Malfoy's iconic film line: "Scared, Potter?" and Harry Potter's response "you wish" are spoken resonate an echo in this Broadway play from the film. I bought jelly beans and one chocolate frog. My chocolate frog contains Albus Dumbledore card. Yes, there is contained fire, and water tank underneath the stage.

Instead, Yasiin Bey arrived in a more poetic and experimental mode, with the intellectual intensity and Rick Owens aesthetic of an artist still pushing forward. Arriving by subway and seeing that incredible Apollo sign glowing over 125th Street immediately made the night feel important. The theater felt more like a temple than a concert hall, with its deep red interior, velvet seats, and intimate layout bringing the audience remarkably close to the stage. I remember sitting in the auditorium thinking about how many legends had performed there and how much of the music I listened to every day had passed through that building. Throughout the performance, the crowd listened with such intelligence and appreciation that the evening felt almost like attending a class inside a concert. Yasiin Bey was cerebral, theatrical, and willing to challenge expectations, while the Apollo audience completed the exchange with its focus and responsiveness. Sitting there felt sacred and deeply moving, as though I had entered a living tradition rather than simply visited a famous old theater. Years later, my fortune had changed dramatically: instead of power lunches at Casa Lever on Park Avenue, I was schlepping couches into fifth-floor walk-up apartments in Harlem. After one job, as a snowstorm began, I passed the Apollo on my walk to the subway, and its iconic sign brought back a happy memory from before my capitalist world collapsed. On the 6 train downtown, I thought again about how honored I had felt to enter a place so central to Black music, New York, and the culture that shaped my identity.
