My experience with Lawhorn Insurance, in particular with John Moore, has been nothing but…read morefantastic. After an unfortunate lapse in payment for my auto insurance which was a first in over 7 years as a loyal customer of Progressive, I had my policy cancelled, and in turn my premiums tripled. Having talked to my then-insurance agent, I was told there was nothing I could do but find a new policy (with the new, much higher rates). Suddenly, I had no option but to look for new policies because of a mistake on my part, which my insurance agent should have warned me about. Having known John for years, I contacted him to see if there was any advice he could give me. He went above and beyond (keeping in mind he's not even my insurance agent!) to speak with progressive, discuss the issue, and after a stressful yet productive meeting, we were able to get my policy back up at the normal rates. He was with me throughout the whole process, expecting nothing back in return. John literally saved me thousands of dollars a year, when other insurance agents had no answer, or desire to help me. I will be happily moving my business over to his agency, and recommend anyone looking for a smart, an trustworthy agent, to do the same.

Once I explained what I needed, John took the time to find the perfect type of policy for us. He saved us lots of money on a full coverage policy. John is very personable and gave top notch customer service. I definitely recommend his firm.

Since I was transferring units in my apartment complex, I thought it was a good opportunity to…read moreexplore my options. So, I went on the State Farm website to try to get a quote, etc., and one of the questions was whether I had ever had damage at an apartment I lived in, regardless of whether I filed a claim. I answered yes, as back in May 2024, my then-apartment was flooded due to negligence/incompetence by the tenant in the unit above me. Answering truthfully then caused the website to say I couldn't continue and my quote request/information would be passed to a nearby agency. From past experience, I know these agents are aggressive when new business opportunities arise and call immediately, so I wrote "do not call" on the contact form. So, instead, I got a text shortly thereafter about my quote being routed to this office and a "check-in" from an agent at this office named Morgan. I didn't respond to it as I had other things to do at that moment and went on with my business, which included going to an afternoon movie. So I'm in the movie, and at 5:04 PM, after hours, I get another text from this guy. "Do you have a few minutes to chat?" at the end followed by his name and a smiley face emoji. Again, I ignore it. I don't do business after 5 pm. The next day, I'm busy with move in and move out stuff and haven't responded. This guy texts again, at the end of the day, about working on the quote, he needs a few details. I text back and say yes, but not right now. That 2 unsolicited texts near or after 5 pm are not any better than incessant and repeated phone calls. He texts back a few minutes later apologizing, saying it's been a busy day. He needs to know more about the claims for water damage, ie the nature of the incidents and was it from an appliance, or weather. I texted back in a few minutes; I explained that the water damage was from 2 years ago at my previous Austin apartment. 2 incidents, one being due to my directly upstairs neighbor not knowing the basic life skill of how to use a washing machine, water was pushed backward in the pipes to her water heater, which overloaded and came down the pipes into my water heater, flooding the entire apartment. The other, a few months later, was a buried pipe outside getting blocked, affecting multiple units in the complex besides mine. Then I said I was merely answering the question honestly on the website and expressed dissatisfaction over having to jump through these hoops caused by answering the question honestly when trying to do self-service. I thought that would be the end of it until Monday, but no. This guy texted on Saturday, saying he is in the office on Saturday too. What a hard worker, aggressively trying to get my business. Another text outside of business hours, distracting/disturbing me while I'm with my friends and relaxing. He says that because it was a claim, they have to review it and submit the information to be reviewed by the back-end team. To be reviewed and sent to another team to review, LOL. He's going to take it and add it so we can get the quote set up. Pardon me, what are you going to review? Do you want pictures of the entire floor of that apartment covered in water? Water going out the small crack in the doors because there is so much? And I'm no longer with AAA. but I still have all the claim information stored in OneDrive. Do you want that too, for you to review for your back end team, Morgan? I reply with a no thanks, and a plea to discontinue the texts. Then went on a diatribe. The continuous after-hours/not business hours texts are disrespectful to my privacy and time. And this thing about the water damage at an apartment I HAVE NOT LIVED IN SINCE OCTOBER 2024 seems shady. Particularly since the water damage was not caused by any negligence on my part. I closed with a statement about how, since I was transferring units, it was an opportunity to explore options, but for now I was going to continue with Allstate. A totally ridiculous situation. I feel like I dodged a bullet; if I had gotten renters insurance via this agency, I have a sneaking suspicion they would disappear when I had a claim for something. Aggressive messages to get my business, but nowhere to be found when my home has been disrupted by the negligence/incompetence of someone else. I don't even know why I was routed to this State Farm agency. I'm in NW Austin and these guys are 11 miles away east of 35. Surely there are agencies in NW Austin/or closer. Jake wasn't a good neighbor here. No Aaron Rodgers touchdown dance for Morgan. Whatever the response will be, like to my similar review of this place on Google, is nonsense.
