Those concerns were quickly put to rest. The couple behind us even asked to take a picture with Jennifer. This place is great. I think most of the action happens out back in "The Zoo," and it's an awesome outdoor space with something for everyone. Whether you're looking to grab a drink, hang out with friends, or just enjoy the atmosphere, Kensington Pub delivers. The cheesesteak is only $11 and comes with a pickle. You know I love that. Looking at the pictures, the cheesesteak may not have been the star of the Kensington Pub show, but it definitely held its own. The roll had a ton of flavor and was one of the highlights. The cheese was tucked underneath the meat, but it was perfectly melted and there was plenty of it. The onions could have used a little more time on the grill, but they still added good flavor. The meat was solid, and together it made for a very enjoyable cheesesteak. Kensington Pub gave us a fun atmosphere, a warm welcome for Jennifer, and a cheesesteak worth eating. That's a pretty good day in The Cheesesteak Life.

We came in on a weeknight as we'd heard so many good things about it. The menu is huge and they had specials too. Lots of beers, frozen drinks, etc. The backyard is incredible as you can see by my pictures. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful.

At times we have sat at the bar and at other times we've sat at tables, and always received prompt and attentive service. The atmosphere here is definitely "local pub" with ample indoor and outdoor seating, seasonally. If you visit even a few times you will begin to recognize regulars from the neighborhood. Everything on the menu I've tried has been quite good, although the standouts are the smash burgers and the wings. They run a lot of specials including taco themes but I have yet to try the tacos. It is pub food, but everything is always fresh-tasting. The drink selection is somewhat limited, as they do not have an extensive selection of beers, wines, or liquor. Just the basics. If you are a craft beer fan you will not really find any options here. But, if you like a bottle of Bud Light and a shot of Jack, you'll be right at home. They do create some themed cocktails for the seasons.

Loved the establishment and they made you feel welcomed. We were a big group and were accommodated easily. We were serviced immediately with water. Great staff, friendly and attentive. The food... Wow, just so original and authentic to them. I loved my philly cheese steak. Normally, one would comment on the meat, which was delicious, but the bread was just so nice that it paired really well with the meat. I never thought I would compliment the bread of a Philly cheese steak haha you really can taste the flavors in each bite! AND the food came out really fast! My only thing I can say "negative" is that no cards, no electronic payment .. whaaaaa :o we had to take out money from an ATM onsite for a $200+ bill :/ shook So if you have cash, can't come here on the whim.

It's conveniently half a block from the K&A stop on the El, although parking is never an issue. They have the old coin meters and a quarter gets much more time out there... wanna say it's at least a half hour... maybe more. No change? Just park two blocks away on Allegheny. Tribe would be happy... they come brown, yellow, Puerto Rican or Haitian... and caucasion. AKA... it's a mix of folks in here. * $.75 Potato Salad. * $3.75 Roast Beef & Cheese on a steak roll. Get this... it is seriously good. * $3.75 Cheesesteak. It's a solid steak. American cheese, finely diced thoroughly sauteed onions... extra greasy goodness... not the best, but better than the tourist factories. * $2.25 Hot sausage. It's a quality kick-ass link that fills out a steak roll. * $1.75 Cheeseburgers. * $1.25 mugs of Lager, etc... you get the picture. They have at least 6 or 7 bottles of 1960 Old Hickory Bourbon (made down by Packer & Delaware Ave back in the day) that they sell for $7 a pour. Yes... $7 A POUR!!! I am not a bourbon guy, but, at $7 for a 60 year old (actually only aged 10 years... + 50 in bottle, ha), I had to try it. Yo!!! It was smooth, refined... I guess I do like some bourbons. Or just get your Wild Irish Rose on, yes, lol... it's there. Bottom line... this dive is seriously one of the best ever. PS... Peep the pic hanging up from 1935 and ask the bartender what happened to the stairwell.

Further down is the dining area and an outdoor dining area on the side. I was surprised by how cute and romantic the main dining room is. Menu is very small. Our waitress was very helpful with giving us recommendations. Clams: it was suggested our waitress and she was right. It has green herb broth that makes it special. The complimentary bread is a perfect vehicle to soak it up. Roasted mushroom: I love the umami from the broth. Salad: I've never seen a salad served like this, it looks like a centerpiece for a table. Leaves of lettuce are stacked up beautifully like a floral arrangement with perfect amount of dressing. Definitely check it out. Chocolate pudding: it has a slight taste of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. It is surprisingly balanced with three cherries that add more sweetness. The cheesecake is another great dessert. Creamy with thick graham cracker crust topped with cherries. The cheesecake and the cherries aren't very sweet. The sweetness comes from the graham cracker crust. Outstanding. Their beer is enjoyable too. My husband and our guest like them a lot. I had the zero percent Guinness and it is really good.
