I'm man enough to admit that I was a little concerned about how the Kensington Pub crowd would react to a guy carrying a Jennifer Aniston mannequin. Those concerns were quickly put to rest. The couple behind us even asked to take a picture with Jennifer. This place is great. I think most of the action happens out back in "The Zoo," and it's an awesome outdoor space with something for everyone. Whether you're looking to grab a drink, hang out with friends, or just enjoy the atmosphere, Kensington Pub delivers. The cheesesteak is only $11 and comes with a pickle. You know I love that. Looking at the pictures, the cheesesteak may not have been the star of the Kensington Pub show, but it definitely held its own. The roll had a ton of flavor and was one of the highlights. The cheese was tucked underneath the meat, but it was perfectly melted and there was plenty of it. The onions could have used a little more time on the grill, but they still added good flavor. The meat was solid, and together it made for a very enjoyable cheesesteak. Kensington Pub gave us a fun atmosphere, a warm welcome for Jennifer, and a cheesesteak worth eating. I met my daughter here for dinner before she left for vacation. Since she lives nearby and my sister had mentioned the food wasn't bad, I looked over the menu and spotted the taco pizza. That was enough to get me in the door. When you first walk in, it looks like a neighborhood pub with a small bar and dining area. What I didn't realize was that there's an entire outdoor space hidden in the back! It's a huge patio with artificial grass, large screen TVs, plenty of seating, and a fun atmosphere for hanging out. They even have a large Kensington Pub display and, my favorite part, the front section of an actual Philadelphia trolley that you can climb into. It was such a cool touch and a great piece of Philly history. Their outdoor bathrooms were so clean and smells so good. This would be a fantastic place to watch a game. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded when we visited, so we were able to enjoy everything. Our server, Desiree, was friendly and attentive. The drinks were a mixed bag. I ordered a light Mike's Hard tea which tasted light!  My daughter started with a lemon drop martini, but it was very watered down, so she sent it back. She ordered a different blue cocktail instead and liked that one much better. I ordered the personal taco pizza. It was the perfect size, and the crust was good, but it didn't really taste like a taco pizza. I've had taco pizza that were packed with bold taco flavor, and this one was a little under seasoned for my taste. The meat was tender, though, and I ended up taking the leftovers home and adding a little extra seasoning. My daughter ordered the taco salad, which was good and served in a large crispy tortilla bowl. Like the pizza, it just didn't quite have that classic taco flavor we were expecting. The atmosphere is what really makes this place stand out. Despite Kensington's reputation, this pub is a hidden gem. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in a residential area, but if you're nearby, it's definitely worth stopping in. I'll absolutely be back to try more of the menu, especially since my daughter lives so close. read more

Love this spot! DO NOT let the name scare you, as it's exceptionally clean, well lit, great personnel and lots of food choices! We came in on a weeknight as we'd heard so many good things about it. The menu is huge and they had specials too. Lots of beers, frozen drinks, etc. The backyard is incredible as you can see by my pictures. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful. read more

Last night I went here to get some St. Patty's Day grub. The place was decorated for the spirit of the Irish holiday with even there being Irish music playing. Server/bartender was friendly and she had some really cool noticeable tattoos. read more

Have you ever been here? Trust me you're seeing five stars and it isn't a mistake. If I only ever saw this place from the outside I'd think 5 stars was a mistake. This bar is a hidden oasis. In fact I shouldn't even be doing this. Not that my reviews will start the snowball rolling and overrun the place with new patrons...... but it doesn't help. Went here tonight with a pile of coworkers and sat outside. Tons of space and 12' walls built out of skids. Giant picnic tables, outdoor couches, tons of games. Beer buckets. Wings that were fat and had meat on them. I was good with 4 wings. That never happens. I wish I had taken some photos. You'd never believe this backyard. My advice to you? GET THERE BEFORE SUMMER ENDS. or is it over? Are you already too late? read more

I feel dumb after knowing this establishment has been open for so long, living in the area, and never trying it. I thought there was a sign outside with their name on it, but there's nothing there so if you aren't looking for it you will pass right by it. It almost feels like an underground bar because when you first enter it looks like a typical corner bar. The staff was very pleasant and asked if we been there before after we looked lost after they told us to sit where we want. We were asked if we wanted to sit in or outside. We went outside the main bar to an air conditioned side area the through doors to the yard. You would never know this beautiful space was there unless you go back there. There's a separate bar, tons of seats, big screen TVs, and games. For food, we got a personal hot Italian sausage red pizza, a large plain red pie, and hot honey wings. Everything was delicious. If you are a fan of Santucci's (philomela's that is, not the other side of that family) you will love this pizza. I'd say due to the crispy crust this pizza has the edge over santuccis. The sauce tastes fresh and is very cheese. Can't wait to try the other pies. The wings were also very delicious. The sauce was almost like a glaze, not too dry and not soaking wet. You could taste the sweet heat in each bite. The size of the wings were also on point (given the current climate with chicken it's hit or miss with wings these days). My family and friends tried the Kensington Pub on Saturday- what a unique place! The staff were attentive and fun, the food was tasty and hot and our drinks cold. The place is decorated for Christmas like the old Enchanted Village- kids have plenty to enjoy - lots of room inside and out and an old Philly charley! Mannnn the food at Kensington is so damn good. These people have some incredible recipes. It's been years since I've eaten food that's given me a nostalgic memory from childhood. The Italian sausage pie was delicious, the best I've ever had. It took me back to a place as a kid where I went to my first pizza party, it was probably the best experience I've ever had while eating pizza. The sauce is flavored to perfection, the bread is perfectly crunchy and soft on the inside, the sausage is seasoned flawlessly. 10 out of 10. Now... the buffalo chicken egg rolls and bleu cheese dressing....beyond delish! I don't even like bleu cheese and I dunked my little egg roll in there like it was the last bit of dip left on the earth. They seasoned the dip so well. Perfectly creamy and thick! The buffalo chicken egg rolls are incredible. The chicken is perfectly pulled, and it's a wonderful balance of cheese, chicken and buffalo all rolled up and fried to golden yummy deliciousness. A match made in heaven. Another 10 out of 10! This place has some incredible food. Go eat there already! read more

Awesome place with awesome bartenders! Not to mention the food is an absolute FIND. We were closing up shop a couple blocks away and heard some good things about Kensington pub from a couple other bar owners in Philly. We arrived and it's a great local neighborhood feel with its regulars and a cozy atmosphere. It was dart league when we showed up so we pushed our way through when someone said "you can sit out back"... okay sure. Well the back area is an open air beer garden oasis that is AMAZING and enclosed enough that you might forget where you are... and it's like 10 times bigger than what you're probably thinking. Love this bar! This is my go to spot after work. Bartenders are friendly, beer is cold, food is outstanding, and the prices are super affordable. I've tried just about every item on the menu and can honestly say you can't go wrong. Look out for daily (sometimes weekly) specials. Home made soups and chili bread bowls are delicious and filling, wings are cooked to perfection, cheese steaks are real rib eye steak and out of this world! Not sure when, but they hired a different cook and the food here is wildly underrated. Have not had a bad meal, or even a mediocre one. They're opening a beer garden this summer, as well. Paid money for the jukebox and played the songs i wanted. Their was only 1 guy in there who played ZERO songs and a few kids, who happened to be outside while smoking a cig while my songs were playing, so it didn't affect them. Both of my songs were skipped and it wasn't like another guest was able to put on another song next because the TV played. I also know it wasnt a malfunction because i have been in a bar where that has multiple times... basically the bar tenders skipped my songs because it was not what they wanted to hear. I put money in the juke box FOR MY ENTERTAINMENT BECAUSE I'M AT THE BAR SPENDING MY OWN MONEY, not for the bar tender's interest. If they have such a problem then maybe they should switch careers idk. It only deserves a star because the bartender was attentive but don't waste your money on the juke box. read more
