This is one of the best places to get fresh fish and shrimp..they have all kinds and sizes of shrimp..we bought some royal reds that had heads on and I didn't know they will remove them for you until I called them to ask about something else and mentioned royal reds also..they have really good prices so much better than any other fish market around.. and they are so friendly and helpful.. now this is by no means a fancy place and it smells strongly of fish but everything we have purchased here has been great ..it is always crowded no matter when we go.. and they frequently have even better sales on their shrimp , you need to sign up on their fb page to find this out..check them out you will be glad u did.. read more

This place was a little out of our way when we were looking for seafood, but it sure was worth it. The prices are fair, especially since the fish itself is some of the better fish I've seen at an open air market. The grouper and shrimp we bought was fantastic. As were the Royal Reds we also bought. However, the highlight of the place in my opinion, were the crawfish. They sell cooked, ready to eat Crawfish. Mind you, these are not served warm, but eaten with some hot butter made for the best crawfish I have ever had on depth of flavor alone. The people were very nice and accommodating. Billy's is a bit out of the way, but it's well worth the drive down Hwy. 10 to get there! Because yes, it is literally right on the water...Doesn't get much fresher than the boat directly into Billy's place! The freshest, best seafood of any joint I've been to in this area (and I lived here for a year, and I love to eat seafood). It is a staple place for grabbing fish or shrimp for dinner; even if you're only here for a vacation, if you have the ability to prepare the seafood yourself it's worth checking out! Fresh shrimp and gulf seafood directly off the boat and thrown on ice. Literally. Billy's is right at the boat dock. The drive and parking lot are even covered with crushed oyster shells instead of rock or sand. Every kind of shrimp you can imagine, including XXL Jumbo as big as my hand. Service is always friendly and knowledgable. They'll also pack it up for you and ship it on dry ice for a not-so-small fee. But if you want real gulf shrimp and don't live on the gulf, this is the way to get it. Last time I shipped something, it was $10 per pound to ship overnight. read more

I was just visiting for the holidays, but my dad is a local, and this is where he buys his seafood. A retail store with docks and the entire fishing/shrimping fleet right out front, and everything flopping around fresh every morning. A fantastic selection of fresh-caught fish and shrimp. We bought a variety of selections for several meals. I mean, holiday on the Gulf and you seriously think we're going to eat turkey and ham? I don't think so. Billy's is a bit off the beaten trail, about 15 minutes in traffic from 182 and 59, but oh so worth the scenic drive. We went there 3 times in 2 weeks for 20 pound sacks of sweet succulent very fresh oysters in the shell ($1 per pound, amazing), and some jumbo shrimp (@ $8.5 per pound), and grouper fillets for a change of pace. The folks at Billy's are friendly and fun, and the seafood is immaculate, the essence of the local gulf bounty. Go getcha some fresh stuff at Billy's and make the best meal of your trip at the beach house tonight, lovely. read more

This is a great place to buy seafood. The staff was friendly and helpful. All the seafood was fresh and clean, it was probably the best shrimp I've eaten. You just can't get seafood this good unless you're close to the coast. The only advice is to know how much you need in advance. They suggested way more than what our group could really eat. If you ask them how much of a product you should buy, cut their suggestion in half and that will be plenty. Other than that, it was great. First time. All excited about it - 2 lbs of red snapper and a pound of shrimp steamed. "Sorry we shut our steamer down at 430 to get it cleaned". What is this the shake machine at McDonald's? It was 436. 4...36. So we didn't get any shrimp. The red snapper was great but the service was crap. A couple days later we went to Blalock for shrimp and the service was great as well as the product. read more

Fresh off the boat! They always package up my order with fresh ice, and the quality of fish, shrimp, etc... it's excellent! Prices are good, and for me the location is perfect. I can kayak there in 3 minutes. Otherwise I have to drive 25 minutes in order to get to the west side of the Bon Secour. Still worth the drive, though, for fresh caught that day! Super friendly staff and they are very free with their knowledge. Great advice on what tastes best in what recipe, and tips on best way to eat/cook your seafood. Prices were very fair; from $10.99/lb for XJumbo shrimp to $12.99/lb for Royal Reds shrimp (caught at about 2,000 feet of seawater). Billy's Seafood is definitely worth the stop while visiting the Gulf Shores. We rented a house for the week in Fort Morgan which provided us with the ability to cook while visiting. The seafood at Billy was fresh and very reasonably priced. The employee working the counter was very nice and courteous. We purchased Royal Reds and Jumbo shrimp. This was my first time eating Royal Reds. They were amazing. My only regret is that was didn't go there again to replenish our seafood supplies. read more

Absolutely loved this place! The staff was super friendly. We purchased 3lbs of shrimp. They steamed them with mild seasoning, which was PERFECT for me. We returned to Billy's Seafood this year because of the wonderful gentleman that helped us last year. We had so much fun, teasing and talking with him and really hoped to see him again. He was not there, and we were "looked at" by a young man with a huge lip of "chew". Not a greeting, not a smile, not a, "May I help you?" just a vacant stare. He made no comment the entire time we were there except to tell me that the crawfish tails came China and he wouldn't buy them or try them. We spent quite a bit of money there and did not receive a "Thank you". Instead of trying to spread my purchases to all the local seafood places, I will take all of my business to Aquila next year. Visited in mid December. The shrimp is sweeter when it's fresh and Billy's has the fresh seafood. They have a good selection of shrimp and a fair selection of fresh fish and oysters too. The prices are reasonable and the folks at the counter friendly. I always go here for fresh, "cook-it-at-home" seafood. We took home a couple of pounds of headless medium shrimp ($6.99/lb) boiled em up in some Zatarains crab and shrimp boil, shocked em in ice water, cooled em down and made some fresh cocktail sauce, refrigerated em for a couple hours to perfect temp. We cooked up a couple baked potatoes topped em with butter and sour cream and begin peeling and eating like people who were on a eating mission. Man they were tender, sweet, and delicious. If you get a chance, get out to Billy's and get some of their fresh Gulf seafood. You won't regret it. They also "pack-to-travel" so take some home with you. read more

I feel bad even giving this review ONE star! The royal reds I ordered for a dinner party were so over cooked they were the consistency of mashed potatoes. My family LOVES royal reds and this place totally got it wrong. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Embarrassed doesn't even come close to describing how I felt serving my 27 guests. Made the 1 hour trip there looking to buy fresh, whole fish. Obviously right by the water and the seafood is supposedly fresh. Th fresh was not very fresh. Great place for shrimp though and good prices. Ranged Tom $2.99 for small shrimp all the way to $12.99 for big juicy gulf shrimp. There are a few other seafood markets like it close by. Safe Harbor was 5 minutes away and they had excellent fish and prices. If Billy's doesn't work for you, try Safe Harbor. read more
