I swear i wrote a review. We came in on the recommendation of a local who was manning a booth at City Market. We decided to give it a try and we split a lobster roll and a couple of Moosehead Lagers. Billy is so personable he chatted with us throughout our meal as our table was in the back. Our server was Natalie and she was great. The Lobster Roll arrived and after the first bite we decided to get another one. This is the best lobster roll ever! From the delicious garlic roll to the chunks of claw meat. OMG! French fries were good and the apple slaw is amazing. They really need to make that a permanent side it was so good. We have another cruise in August 2025 and we will be here for sure! Stopped I'm for a quick lunch. The lobster roll was full, and the bread was well toasted. The fries were hot and crispy. Our waitress, Allie, was amazing! The shrimp burger surprisingly had a meat patty AND shrimp! The bun was well toasted. Crispy onion straws, too. The poutin was really good, but drowning in gravy, but it sure was yummy. Got here around 7:30-7:45, was asked if We had a reservation. Spoilers We did not. They had many table empty but got told missing kitchen staff so, was told to come back at 8:30. Back at 8:30 got seated an older gentleman brought us water. We we're told that the waiter will be back with us soon. We got the mango chili lime calamari ($17) as appetizer. I would stay away it lacks flavours. The calamari taste like they spent too much time in the water, definitely not grilled. The only flavour in that appetizer is the mangoes, the peppers, and tomatoes that were added. Lobster dinner ($55 tonight) the price follow the market. The lobster was good I was sold because I like lobster. Came with butter a little bit of veggies (green beans, potatoes) I was recommended to take the risotto as my side it was ok. For being 'the best' in town, dinner was a mixed event. Mussels were delicious but a dozen empty shells in the bowl. Seafood chowder was not as good as the waiter suggested. In addition served piping hot, over cooked by microwave. Buyer beware on the shrimp burger. Wife ordered it thinking it a seafood dish, but just a burger with 2 shrimp on top. I have been touring up the east coast and had not had a whole lobster. I have a lobster roll but no whole lobster. I really wanted just lobster but Mrs. K. said she would eat the corn and potato. So instead of just leaving them off the order Mrs. K. picked up my slack. I don't want to sound jaded but really a lobster is a lobster. I enjoyed it and was happy to have ordered it. Visited Billy's for a lobster roll. They will serve "CT style" where the North Market Seafood requires fillers of Mayo, celery, and lettuce. However, first order took 32 minutes and was wrong. Second attempt in 10 minutes and bun not toasted. Requires ordering a side and some type of relish included even when not requested. On top of that 29CAD for less than what is provided from a food truck for 12USD in Portland in under 5 minutes. Will not be back, will not recommend. read more

The oyster bar was the main attraction for us, and we truely enjoyed the wide selection of oysters from PEI and NB. We found a couple new ones that we've never tried that became fast favorites. Our top picks from the 7 types was Rasperry Point and Daisy Bay. Abolutely delicious! For mains, we had the Halibut Scampi and the Cedar Planked Salmon. My preference was for the salmon, as it was so well prepared and full of flavor from the cedar. Also, it was the more generious portion of the two dishes. Be forwarned that the scampi comes with only one shrimp and the salmon comes with only one bacon wrapped scallop. So choose more filling sides like mashed potatoes versus the salad. We went to Billy's on a quiet Sunday evening. The place was filled with couples eating quietly. The interior is quite nice with a quiet nautical color theme. We ordered: the scallop wrapped in bacon appetizer salmon with a pineapple salsa, and caesar salads. The scallop app was fantastic. So often a scallop wrapped in bacon is some small shrunken thing wrapped in soggy bacon. Ugh! These were fresh, generous scallops, wrapped in CRISPY bacon! The salmon was fresh and well prepared. There were 3 servers in the room so I don't know what holds them up. Even though we ordered as soon as the server was available, we waited for another hour to get our food...and we were literally the last table they took that night. My lobster Mac&cheese is OK. But the others - mango chili calamari, fish tacos, and papillote all lack flavor. When we finally got out, it was almost 10:30. The place looks fancy. The price is not cheap. Decided to stop here for dinner as it is on most "top seafood restaurants in Saint John" lists and found it to be meh. Service was lovely, but the food so so. Bacon wrapped scallops had too much bacon and over powered the scallops. I had the medley pasta based on some recommendations on here and it was bland and the seafood didn't taste as fresh as I expected. My husband had the fish tacos and said they were yummy. I only reserve 5-star reviews for world recognition restaurants. This is one of those restaurants. The service tonight was top notch. I started with the lobster roll. Hands down the best lobster roll I have ever had, on warm toasted garlic bread. Followed up with the best cream brûlée I have ever had, from Paris to New York. It's done with such perfection, it's in a whole different category of desserts. The wine list was exceptional, and the follow up coffee was fresh brewed for me. This was a foodie experience I will not forget, and I've traveled to over 70 countries and all 50 US states for culinary experiences. This was one of the best meals and experiences I've ever had. Great location!! Can't beat that! In Canada's oldest running farmer's market! Looks like a recent refresh inside , looks good . Ordered the 'seafood tower' ($150) , which was a treat!! I understand towers like these take time to make , and some things get cold , but for $150 , it wasn't perfect .. there were a tonnnn of mussels , which being a bit cold made it hard to eat them all , especially when all you have to dip them in is cold butter .. Billy's should invest in ramekin holders with tea lights underneath to keep butter warm; compensate for cold mussels; and ask customers if they want GARLIC BUTTER (minced garlic in with butter) instead. Last thing , the oysters were tasty , but not on ice. Menus weren't pristine either , and cutlery wasn't polished. Food felt overprice for what we got. We ordered the coconut shrimp first and we paid $15 for 5 pieces of shrimp. We ordered the Cajun Seafood Stew which was tomato sauce, an assortment of seafood and then pre-made rice. The tomato sauce literally tasted like it had just come out of a can and had no spices at all. Very disappointing for how much we paid. At least it was edible. read more
