The Biltmore Dental Group have provided me with the best dental experience I've had as an adult. Their office deals directly with your insurance company and saves you a lot of hassle (a lot of dentists make you do all the paperwork yourself these day and pay them up front). I saw Barry C. Duncan DMD to 'get established' in WNC and he was a very friendly guy. The entire staff made me feel at ease and welcome. More importantly, the services provided were very comprehensive. The office can be a little hard to find, but it is worth the trip. Various x-rays and photos of my teeth and mouth were taken, followed by an explanation of anything relevant and a manual inspection that included everything from measuring the depths of my gums to asking if I wanted a place where I slightly chipped my tooth smoothed. I am particularly grateful to Dr. Barry Duncan and his technician, Tiffany Penland, who have seen me through several procedures with patience, kindness, and a great deal of skill. Rose and all of the office staff have been a constant source of information and help. And each person I have met along the way has treated me with careful attention. I went to Dr. Duncan to have teeth extracted and dentures made. Dr. Duncan is licensed to administer sedation which I chose for one of the extraction procedures, easing both the procedure and recovery. Because of the attention he gave to molds and directions to the lab, my dentures look quite natural. They are quite beautiful! And he has provided excellent care as final adjustments to the bite and fit are made. I have seen numerous dentists throughout my life, but can say with all sincerity that the Biltmore Dental Group far outshines any other experiences. I recommend them without reservation. Great experience with everyone in the office. It was quick and I didn't have to wait.

I suppose the dentists and oral hygienists seem knowledgeable which is about the only thing this office has going for it. "Knowledgeable," however shouldn't be confused with "professional." After spending many thousands of dollars and several years of my life with these guys they sent me a $250 bill out of nowhere. Every single time I visited their office - before and after I had insurance - I paid a hefty premium, so I have no idea how I could possibly owe them this money. While I was trying to dispute it with them they turned me over to a collection agency. I should also mention that I have been a customer for over 2 years and this bill came over a year after (what they claim) was the date of service. I guess this recession business is really hitting the dental industry hard. In addition, their insurance billing practices leave a lot to be desired. At one point, they denied me an appointment and were quite rude because my insurance had denied a claim. Turns out it was because THEY filled out the paperwork incorrectly. After looking at my insurance company's website, I realized exactly how slack they really are. Their insurance claims are often filled out 6 months to a year after the service date and they are often submitted multiple times. I don't know if this is regular practice, but don't blame me when my insurance company denies a claim that was filed a year after service. Ironically, I have referred 3 of my colleagues to this office and now I'm embarrassed that I ever did. In summary, go to this dentist if you want to have a major, time-consuming billing headache and lackluster customer service. If that's not your thing, I would suggest checking out the next guy. 8/26/09 EDIT: I received this communication in the mail today from Biltmore Dental Group: "Dear Charles, Because dentistry is such a personalized service, a good rapport between the dentist and patient is very important. Our relationship seems to be missing the necessary elements of communication and mutual understanding. After carefully reviewing your dental health status, it is in my opinion that you should seek the services of another dentist. A copy of your dental records will be available to you when you have selected another dentist. Please have the dentist that you choose contact us and we will be happy to forward your records to them. We will continue to provide dental care on an emergency-only basis for thirty days from the date of this letter. Sincerely, Dr. Barry C Duncan, D.M.D Dr Alexander P. Pence, D.D.S." I GOT FIRED!! So instead addressing these concerns with me, they cut me loose. This proves beyond a doubt that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. And the best part...on page 2 of this letter, they printed out my above review, highlighted and wrote little comments beside it. All this does is prove that what I have been saying all along is right - thanks Biltmore Dental Group! The funniest part of all of this is that this review was nothing more than a cry for help. If they had simply contacted me and addressed my concerns, all would be very well and I would have changed/deleted this review! read more

Bought a groupon for cleaning and xrays. The hygentist was very thorough. Dr. Duncan said I had four cavities that needed filling. Upon second and third opinions they were not necessary and could be remineralized with proper care. The treatment plan they quoted was for over $800 of which none was necessary. I would be skeptical because he wanted to drill teeth that were perfectly fine. read more
