Yes, it is pricey (although kids under 16 are free), but it is well worth a visit. Most visitors will opt for the self guided tour where you have a handheld device to listen to the highlights of each room. There are staff in most rooms, and they are a wealth of information, so ask away. There are no restrooms inside the house so just be prepared. My only regret is that we could not really see the gardens as it was close to 100 degrees, so we will need to come back!

Absolutely stunning estate!! It is everything that everyone hypes about! I really love the library and kitchen I think those were my favorite and it just has such a magical feel to it, something in the movies!! It's absolutely massive and they even have a bowling alley and pool downstairs! My partner was curious as to if they have a wine cellar and the staff confirmed, we walked around listening to audios and self tour and I really enjoyed it and learning all the facts like a school trip! Don't forget that the wine tasting is included in your trip!!! We had no idea and when exiting it did take us to the wineries, but we had been there half the day and made lunch reservations so we weren't able to experience it!!! sadddddd! The gardens are gorgeous and the left of the house has a huge coy pond that the groundskeeper let me feed!! He gave facts about coy living so long sometimes they outlive their owners and need to be put in a will!! The Conservatory is gorgeous and my partner and I saw flowers and plants we've never seen before, so lovely and highly recommend! I would've loved to have visited during Christmas I can't imagine how gorgeous it is!

If you're in Asheville, take the time to do a tour of the Biltmore. The self-guided tour has audio phones that allow you to go at your own pace and skip the areas of the home that don't interest you. The tour comes with a complimentary wine tasting in the winery, a tour of the gardens, and free parking. The Biltmore is a beautiful home.

When you're in Asheville, they say the Biltmore is a MUST! So we booked a couple tickets ($115 PP) for the regular grounds tour + wine tasting. It was the perfect day weather wise to tour through the estate inside and out. The place is massive! The closer you get the more small you feel and walking through from room to room you just can't believe how big and spacious it is. This was my first tour where they give you this phone that looks vintage or from the 80's and you click on each number and an audio guides you through each room and gives you the back story. It was quite amusing watching so many people walking around with these phones up to their ears while trying to take photos. Some of the rooms were so beautiful, the fireplaces and how well they preserved a lot of these super old things. It was a fairly busy afternoon but the pace was quite steady for a weekday so I'm glad we chose that over a weekend. After the tour inside we grab a bite and drink at the two places offered outside. Then we made our way through the gardens and just endless rows of tulips. Make sure you go through and down to go to the botanical gardens. Holy cow, this was place was insane and the plants and flowers were gorgeous. I gotta give it up for these landscapers and people that keep up with all of it. There were plants and flowers I've never seen before and then you get to one room where there's a violinist and that was such a nice touch. After that we hopped back into our car and strolled over to the wine tasting room and gift shop. They were very quick and efficient with how it was set up and with all these groups coming in at once. We got to taste 5 wines and ended up taking 2 bottles home. I would say be prepared to spend some money visiting the Biltmore Estate but it was totally worth it! We got some beautiful views and photos!

the gorgeous house!! (this photo has a filter on it btw)

there is amazing food, amazing service and the house is impeccably clean and decorated. The prices are high, but of course that's understandable to tour a house of this size. We had an amazing time and it's totally worth it!!

Beautiful mansion and grounds! We caught the last weekend for the holiday decorations. The tour was very informative if a little long. Absolutely beautiful grounds. And the "village" was a nice stop. The winery was a pleasant surprise as we assumed it would be super sweet fruit wines. Thankfully the wines actually used grapes brought in from the west coast. This is not a super kid friendly tour - it's to long. We did see the staff assisting with a visitor in a wheelchair chair but the house and tour is definitely not friendly for anyone with mobility issues or who can't stand/walk for long periods of time.

Visiting Biltmore Estate is unforgettable at any time of year, but seeing it at Christmas is truly magical. The estate's famous artwork and historic pieces are breathtaking on their own, yet during the holidays they feel even more alive. Grand portraits, sculptures, and tapestries are perfectly complemented by elegant Christmas trees, glowing lights, and lush garlands, creating a beautiful blend of art, history, and seasonal warmth. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping into a classic holiday story--every space is thoughtfully decorated without taking away from the incredible craftsmanship and world-class art that make Biltmore so iconic. The attention to detail is extraordinary, and the Christmas atmosphere adds an extra layer of wonder and charm. Biltmore at Christmas is not just a tour; it's an experience that stays with you long after you leave. To make the visit even better, the audio tour is incredibly informative and well-paced, adding rich context and stories that truly enhance the experience. I especially loved the greenhouse!

The Biltmore estate is an absolute must visit when in Asheville. It is an architectural marvel. It's amazing to hear the history of the house and to explore the beautiful grounds. I went when it was decorated for Christmas, which added to the experience. be prepared to walk a lot it's probably not a great place for somebody who has mobility issues. I would definitely come back to visit the Biltmore during a different season. Yes it is a little pricey, but it is well worth a visit.

Came here for the winery and had a fun experience! Only retracting a star since the complimentary shuttle wasn't running and they don't let Ubers drop off on property, so we had to rent a car just to do this activity we planned. We visited the outside of the house for photos and the lawn was kept up with nicely and the house was beautiful! I am glad we stopped here on our trip.

The grandeur and scope of this magnificent estate is beyond comprehension. Purchase your entry ticket online and save having to stop, buy tickets then get back into your car to drive and park. Entry tickets are toned. Plan on spending 2 hours if you listen to every story on the narrated tour. Make sure to stroll the expansive gardens before going to the winery for a complimentary tasting. Spent 4 hours on property and felt like we got the full experience.

Knowing that 80,000+ acres were donated from the original 125,000 acres to form the National Forest called Pisgah National Forest.

Don't miss a chance to view the grounds and gardens at Biltmore. Unfortunately in December there wasn't a lot going on in the gardens, so we went to the Conservatory. Gorgeous orchids, unusual cacti and succulents, and lot of red blooms. If you don't want to go in the House, there's a parking lot through the gardens (can get full).

Ask the Community - Biltmore Estate

If I just want to tour the garden, is there a ticket for just that? Or do I still have to buy the ticket to view the whole house?

    Is it disabled friendly?

It depends on your needs but generally yes. They offer alternative modalities for the tour for the hearing impaired. People who need ASL interpreter will need to call a week in advance. People with limited mobility will only have access to the first…

We would like to bring our two beagles to tour the grounds. I know dogs are not allowed inside the buildings but are the grounds dog-friendly?

Yes! They also have kennels available to rent so you can tour the house too.

I have a question, does the $75-95 per person fee just go to add to the family fortune or does the entrance for this go to any charitable cause?

I'd say most of the entrance fee goes to all the employees needed to maintain the house and the rest of the estate. The Biltmore Company is the 2nd largest employer in Asheville.…

I'm thinking of visiting the estate as part of a bachelorette trip. What else is there to do ( other than the wine tasting of course) that you would recommend a must do for a bachelorette group?

You could go to the spa; afternoon tea; take a horse drawn carriage ride; hike the trails

How long is the place open for? Also, would 5 hours be enough time to throughly enjoy the tour/estate?

Ask one question at a time.

How do you make reservations for the wine tasting at the winery?

You scan the QR code on your pamphlet at arrival. Very easy process.

For Equestrians- is there any near by horse trails that connect to the estate trails? I have heard rumors but just wanted a confirmation. Thanks☺️

    Not that I know of.

Are tickets required for only visiting the grounds/bike trails?

Unless you're a pass holder, you must have a ticket to get past the front gate. Or, you may go in with pass holders after 5

Do you have to pay for a ticket to just visit the winery or can you visit the winery without a ticket?

The winery and the wine tasting is complimentary with your ticket, you cannot go to the winery without purchasing one.

Is the Christmas candlelight tour very dark inside?

Absolutely! Although it's a long drive, we go several times a year, to enjoy the change of seasons and the different displays at Biltmore. If you think you'll return within the year, get a season pass. Eat lunch or dinner at Deer Park and breakfast…

Is it worth going there if it is raining?

Yes, you can still have an enjoyable visit on a rainy day, just bring an umbrella or poncho to visit the gardens. I got the most beautiful photos on a rainy day. The house and the conservatory are inside as are the restaurants and winery.

Advance tix specify date/time? Discounts how?

You can get two day passes through Costco (Greenville or Spartanburg, SC). It cuts admission almost in half. The cheapest place to buy tickets in Asheville is the gift shop at Mission Hospital.

Hi! I am taking my grandma to Asheville to celebrate her 98th birthday (She's extremely agile & active!) She loves interesting/unique things - Of the Biltmore tours offered which one do you think is most interesting & educational?

I would recommend getting the audio stick so that way you can both go at your own pace and get all the information on each room- it's only $10 and well worth it since the rooms don't have written descriptions.…

The place is alive, man! Asheville has no shortage of magical spaces that kind of transcend space/time when you wander them. This one is a doozy! Walk down the stone earth entry to the grotto below and tell me you didn't just schloop through an unseen hole in the veil only to emerge into someplace much further than it looked from "out there." It's like the TARDIS of nurseries, it's bigger on the inside. A bit north of UNC Asheville on Merrimon, the only negative thing that I could mention is that parking is a little tight and close to that road, but that's a pretty common gripe in the 828, but I had to mention it for credibility. We left with a giant clay pot and a half-price Aloe that is entering the rehabilitation porch at home tomorrow at sun-up. Oh, there is a chicken coop just a bit farther out back, past the little creek and through the back greenhouse. Totally worth a peek while you're meandering about. From the looks of it, this place is evolving and growing. I can't wait to see it next time I come. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
