We loved the drive on the winding back roads! The vineyard is nestled perfectly for beautiful mtn views! The staff was beyond welcoming & friendly. As we walked in, we were given the menu & told to sit wherever we'd like & they'd come find us. It was perfect weather for Adirondack lounging for sipping, relaxing & views outside. We chose the Estate Flight to select a glass after sampling. Everyone checked on us & each person was sincerely kind & glad to help! We will definitely be coming back on our next trip! read more

SCW and I drove to Stone Ashe Vineyard while visiting Asheville for a few days. We wanted to sample some wines from the vineyards around and Stone Ashe looked appealing. The drive is scenic along some winding roads with great views. The tasting room itself is near the top of a hill with great views of the surrounding vineyard and hills. When you enter you'll be greeted and offered a few different tasting options. You can essentially select your own from the offerings, including ciders. We both picked our wines, mine more white wine based and SCW went more for the reds. After a brief wait we were served. I didn't really enjoy the glassware that the wines are served in because they don't lend well to oxygen getting into the wine. I think this really detracts from the experience. Once we were about halfway into a tasting of wine then you could actually smell it much better. The wines themselves for me were hit and miss. The reserves were a bit better for me, but we didn't leave with any bottles. The tasting room is very nice, large, and has great views from any seat. read more

This is the winery to go to if you want incredibly beautiful views mixed with delicious wine. They are beautiful both inside and outside and have great seating options in both places. It was cold during out visit so we chose to sit inside, but I'd imagine enjoying wine with a view would be spectacular. We stopped by last minute with a group of 13 during the week, and they were nice enough to accommodate us. Definitely recommend making a reservation on the weekend, though. And they do add a 20% gratuity on parties larger than 8. They offer two different tasting flights, both for $20. They offer a more broad 6 wine tasting, each 1oz pours. I tried their 3 premium release wine tasting, which are each 2oz pours - loved each of the wines. They also have some good food options - the cheese board was our big winner. For $30, they gave us a good portion of cheese, crackers, pickles, olives, and meats - the perfect compliment to the wines. All the staff were so nice, friendly, and welcoming here. If you sit inside, please make sure to make it outside to take it the view. Because it really is gorgeous. read more

Had a lovely time visiting Stone Ashe Winery. I've been to a few here in Asheville and I have a hit of a high standard for wineries having gone to them in Italy and France. But for our local winery this is a lovely little place beautiful views, nice outside sitting arrangement, the folks working there were open to help. Next time I want to try the charcuterie. Beautiful views and delicious wine. We were greeted by Danielle who sat our party of 2 under their picturesque Adirondack chairs. My husband and I both chose the variety tasting, but she was more than happy to serve us a small sample of wines that were off menu. Favorites include their Cabernet franc rose and new 2022 Chardonnay (not aged in oak so it reads far different than a traditional Chardonnay, which we loved). Can't wait to return! read more

A great recommendation from a new friend. GORGEOUS views and spectacular atmosphere. Ok wines... Asheville is heavy on beers and breweries, obviously. But if you don't mind going a little out of your way, there are some great wineries hidden in them thar hills! After making friends with fellow trivia-ers who were local to the area, they suggested Stone Ashe to us for a visit the next day. The weather was spectacular, so a hilltop wine-sippin' trip was definitely in the cards. Just outside of the Asheville area, with plenty of parking, great service and unbelievable scenery! I am so glad we made the trip! Though I will say, I did not like any of the wines which I why I am withholding a fifth star. Taste is subjective, but I usually find something I would want a full glass of or a bottle to take home...not so much here. And it was not inexpensive. But overall, the visit here was more than the sum of its parts. They also offer food, but we had done brunch before we cam here so we didn't need to take advantage of that. I would be open to a return visit (assuming different wines had been made/released) especially with a group for a meal or a flight. read more

I am loving all of the wonderful, new vineyards popping up in this part of North Carolina! Every time I come to visit old friends, we try to find a new winery. Well, this was the choice of the trip and I am so glad that we came! We got there right after they opened on a Saturday - it was mostly quiet but the place filled up quickly! Thankfully there is plenty of seating outside for big groups; my friend and I cozied up by the fireplace and enjoyed our wine tasting and a couple glasses of wine there. I really enjoyed the tasting - I'm not a sweet wine person, so I was very glad that most of the wines are on the dry side. I truly appreciated how these wines are made - natural, fresh and with love. It was a great experience and I will for sure be coming back! Next time, I'm planning on ordering some charcuterie and other goodies... it looked great coming out of the back! After seeing its award from USA Today, I had to check it out after hiking in DuPont Forest. First of all, Apple Maps thought I should turn right before, but I found it! The view is gorgeous. The inside is also beautiful with cozy chairs. Staff are super sweet as well and very attentive. They specialize in dry wines, so if you like sweet then go for the Reisling. Otherwise, they have flights or by the glass or bottle. I felt the tasting portion was a little light considering the price, but it was a "taste" of each. They also provided crackers and waters. For food they have some great snacking options but no full meals here. Enjoyed the view and the local pop up shop on the day I visited! read more

Stone Ashe is an absolutely gorgeous winery with a great selection of Bordeaux style wines. The flight tasting is a preselected assortment of five. We had the Sauv Blanc, stainless Chardonnay, barrel Chardonnay, cab Franc and a left bank style blend. The whites were good, but the reds were sublime. Heard about this Vineyard through an article/advertisement in AVLToday. Then found out they won awards thru USAToday. Enjoyed the beautiful drive to this cliff side vineyard. Lisa greeted and served us. She also spent some time sharing the raison d'etre and terroir for this endeavor. My partner and I decided to try a glass of their white and red. Decided on the 2019 Coppedge Hill which was a delightful to sip and savor. Bought a bottle to bring home. The Chardonnay and SBlanc were okay but didn't excite. Lovely views with a tastefully designed and appointed tasting room. WNC is fortunate to have this Vineyard available to visit for the wine and views. read more

This absolute gorgeous vineyard sits in one of most ideal locations within the mountains of Hendersonville. I was absolutely impressed with the view of the surround countryside at this location, even more impressive were the grape vines, they literally appeared to be crawling up the surrounding hillside. Being one of the most modern winery's we have ever been to, the wonderful new building smell emanates throughout, as you enjoy the tastefully decorated and very comfortable interior. Even more surprising was the very friendly staff were extremely knowledgeable of their wine and allowed us to taste prior to making a decision on a bottle. Something many vineyards do NOT provide to their customers at no additional cost. I have never really been impressed with the NC wines until recently and even more impressed with the reds at Stone Ash, they provide some excellent full bodied reds! Of course when your stuck with such a terrific view, there is no reason to sit inside, soak in the gorgeous view outside in any of the very comfortable seating arrangements they have to offer and fear not, they actually do take the time to check on you! Stone Ashe Vineyard was the highlight of my recent trip to Asheville. My friend had just gotten engaged and the staff worked with us to host a surprise get-together in the outdoor space. They were wonderful throughout the whole process. Excellent and transparent communication in the planning process as well as the actual event (small gathering outside on their patio). They even went above and beyond as they helped us during the set up process- we really lucked out! They do require social distancing from other parties and to wear your mask at all times unless you are seated and eating a beverage or food. I would highly recommend utilizing their outdoor patio space as it gives a wonderful ambiance with the beautiful scenery around and made the event safe with being outdoors. Added bonus that we lucked out on beautiful weather! The wine here is also fantastic! I'm surprised that I enjoyed it so much, given I haven't really had NC wines before. I really enjoyed their rose and red wines. Overall, Stone Ashe Vineyard is a gem of a venue and vineyard. I highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Asheville area and want to enjoy great wine, beautiful scenery and excellent customer service! read more

5 stars for the setting alone!!! This winery has a GORGEOUS view, with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy it. We tried a couple of different flights and ultimately ended up sharing a bottle of their Rosé, which was the table favorite. We weren't as crazy about the Sauvignon Blanc, which is our normal go-to, but wine is entirely a matter of preference and I'd be willing to bet everyone would be able to find one they enjoyed here. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions. We came during a rush so service was slightly slower than I'm guessing it usually is, but they let us know that up front and it wasn't an issue. We were also able to order a bottle inside at the bar to bring out when the servers seemed to be busy checking out quite a few tables at once. We also got one of the boards, which was *maybe* slightly more expensive than it felt like it was worth, but we did really love the items included on it and I think part of what you're paying for is the scenery so, that was fine with us. The chorizo was one of my favorite I've ever had and the pimento cheese and carrot hummus were delicious!!! read more

Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience here. We arrived on a Saturday with a limo service; the manager was incredibly rude when we arrived and berated our driver. The venue was nearly empty, plenty of space to host our party, but they behaved as if we were unwelcome and did not want us. We did not realize reservations were required, and admittedly that is our problem/issue. However, it does not constitute the manager being openly rude and very nearly demeaning. I will say the venue looked lovely and I believe we would have had a nice time if we had been welcome there. read more

Hubs and I had the loveliest afternoon at Stone Ashe over the weekend! The girls working there are so sweet and knowledgeable. The service was delightful. Such great options for seating, too, both inside and outside. The seating is so comfortable - so much so we asked where the pieces were made so we could get some! We opted for inside seating on the very warm day we visited, right by the window. It was perfect. We started with two wine tastings ($15 each) which came with five 1-ounce pours of their wines. We then ordered a bottle of the Cabernet Franc ($35) and Charcuterie ($20). I am a sucker for some Cabernet Franc and Charcuterie. Everything was really tasty! It made for a perfect afternoon. We will absolutely be back whenever we return to the area! Such a beautiful winery and such a fantastic experience overall! We did not want to leave and I am already missing it! read more

This is definitely our FAVORITE winery (so far!) in NC! We loved their wine- particularly the Cab Franc (a well balanced red), their Meritage Red Blend (with a spice that lingers), and their Bubbly Provençal Rosé (crisp and dry- super refreshing). The only wine that neither of us liked at all (something oddly herbal about it...) was their Petit Verdot. It's a bit of a drive for us from Asheville, but the views and quality of wine were super worth it. They are trying to create something different- a retreat for writers, contemplation, and quiet enjoyment (versus the bachelorette party scene). We can't WAIT to return! Well done! read more

Great views and cute atmosphere but the good things stop there. The wine was alright; we had 2 flights and neither one of us really liked any individual wine, but that's fine since taste is so subjective. The thing I didn't love about Stone Ashe was the food and service. We ordered a charcuterie board and we got a brown box full of pre-packaged food (string cheese, snyder pretzels, etc.). For the price we paid we could have made our own BYO picnic basket 3 times over. The service was also not very friendly. Any time we had a question we were treated lesser, like we were supposed to know everything about how their tastings and menu worked, which is ridiculous since every Vineyard handles things differently. The inside wasn't very comfortable and it was hard to find a seat. We ended up on a couch by the fireplace which I normally love, but the couch was so far away from the very low to the ground coffee table that we had to balance everything (2 tastings and the snacks) on our laps and the cushions...it really made the experience less high-end and enjoyable. Overall I would not recommend a visit to Stone Ashe. read more

Came here with the expectation of a great time at the recommendation of staff member and another local winery! Upon arrival we were told that we could not even go inside because we have a child (a six month old sleeping baby) "Okay, that's fine, we respect that." No big deal. We are standing in the parking lot discussing where to go next and a staff member comes out and says you have to leave, you are not allowed to have your "powwow" in our parking lot Really?! Not even allowed to be in the parking lot? I think the correct way to handle this would have been to recommend other local places that allow children. With all the new wineries/vineyards popping up in WNC, it's hard to keep up. This one, however, is different. I was blown away by the ambiance inside. Really impressed by the interior design venturing outside the typical cabin/rustic design I all too often see- this one has true style! Loved their tasting flight board, where I'm not stuck inside at the bar going through each wine, we were able to get all our tastings with a brief summary of what they were, then able to take it outside to enjoy the view. Really appreciated their snack options, way more offerings than most places. Oh, and the wine! As someone who is not a Sauvignon Blanc fan, my palate was changed here. The grapefruit notes were perfection. Great space for an event also. After that lovely experience we are hoping to have our friends baby shower here in the near future. read more

Gorgeous views, friendly staff, great dry wines and tasty charcuterie board. What more can you ask for at a wine tasting? I wish I took more pictures of the indoor lounge area, it is absolutely beautiful and modern, whoever designed it has an impeccable eye! They also have outdoor seating (covered and uncovered) if you want to sit outside. We opted for indoor seating since we heard thunder. They make it easy for you, you have one option for wine flights. They lay it in order based on the menu, and you go for it. Their wine is right up my alley, dry and bold. We were lucky the sun came back out, and we were able to walk around the lot and saw some of the grape vines up close. If you have a large party, make a reservation and they'll reserve tables / seats for you! read more
