You will be wowed just driving up, through the vineyards. As you pull up to the top you see just how gorgeous the views are. We technically arrived 10 minutes before they opened and just soaked up the views. Finally we meandered inside. Point Lookout Vineyards is the winery, but Top of the World is the meadery. John selected 5 wines & 1 mead for a flight & i went 5 meads with one wine as my flight. We grabbed a glass of water & picked out our seat. We also spring for a 10 inch pepperoni pizza since it was lunch time. 1st- skip the pizza. IMO it didn't match the caliber of the experience in its entirety. Too much like a tostinos frozen pizza. The wine and meads were stellar. I started with Sweet Carolina Girl, a mid- sweet blended red that was bold in flavor, with that rich fruit. Very luscious. Next up, the Orange Blossom Mead, exactly as expected. Velvety mouth feel, bright flavor. The Beguile was next, a raspberry mead- at first sip, I was hesitant to like it. I went around the tasting and came back and liked it much more after the second sip. The Masala surprised me, a Chai tea mead, I'm not usually a fan of Chai tea but I was intrigued by the description. The clove and ginger with the cardamom was delightful. Mimi's Apple Pie was also very yummy, I honestly stay away from most "apple pie" flavors, because it usually never does it justice. This was an exception. Finishing this mead in bourbon barrels sealed the deal. Last & not at all the least was Sting, the classic orange blossom mead fermented with juniper berries, finished in a gin barrel. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking! It is so relaxing and peaceful. Then there's the wines. Point Lookout has a wonderful selection of dry, semi-dry, and sweet wines. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the service is amazing, even when there's a large crowd. I truly hated to leave. I just want to sit and enjoy the views all day. What a BEAUTIFUL Winery! Anyone thinking of where to get married... this place would be a fairytale. We had the opportunity to stay here through the night with Harvest Host. The hosts were wonderful and welcoming. We stay for some tasting and they had a very diverse selection of dry and sweet. Even had mead options so there is something for everyone. Last two times coming here they have had all handicap spots blocked off.....not the regular parking spots which are open, just the handicap. Last time was so they could have a food truck setup in that space, this time because they had an event and needed the space. Wouldn't have a problem if the other regular spots were also blocked off, but they were wide open. Use to love this place but seems like every time we have come wheelchair patrons are just not welcome or considered, and considering it's on the side of a mountain, some consideration would be given. read more

Mother's Day Brunch....Horrible! Their ad listed lots of food items being served. So for $29.50 per person it would not have been bad. But when u got there u could only choose 1 of the casseroles. 1 of the sides. And the fruit salad...? What a joke. It was shredded bag lettuce with 1 canned slice of tangerine and 2 slivers of strawberry! They will tell you it was catered so not "their" food but THEIR service was just as bad. I had a special needs sister who couldn't walk so I was getting her plate. Gave the witch her food ticket and she said my sister would have to come up. I said if she could walk she would...her attitude about the ordeal was in the wrong place. She should not have assumed anything. And she could have been more polite. If you don't like your job find another one!! The whole event there was tacky. From checking in and getting food tickets to standing in an absurdly long line to walk away with crap food and crappier service. We had a birthday party here and it was lovely! Beautiful views and the freedom to roam the land. Ample seating beneath a large canopy, or outside at tables and also by some fire pits. The live music was enjoyable and people were dancing. My only hunch was that the staff seemed a bit unorganized but they were all kind. I saw that they have a casual menu as well, but we did not partake to report on the eats. I'd suggest starting with a sampler of the wine or mead to determine what you like best and then order by the glass. Great spot for a date or group gathering! FYI: On weekends they have a shuttle if you have to park at the bottom of the hill. read more

We recently had our wedding at Point Lookout Vineyard, and overall, it truly was a beautiful day and a memorable experience. The space itself is lovely, and everything came together in the end for a celebration we will always cherish. Unfortunately, a major part of the planning process was made significantly more stressful due to ongoing communication issues with the event coordinator, Cindy, who we also paid additionally to serve as our wedding coordinator. This made the situation even more difficult. From early on, it was hard to get timely responses. There were multiple instances where I emailed and did not receive a response, waited a week or more, and then had to follow up with several texts before hearing back. This made planning feel very uncertain and, at times, overwhelming. While she continuously reassured us that issues were not common and not to worry, the overall experience throughout the process did not reflect that. The situation became even more stressful when Cindy canceled just 6 days before our wedding due to an opportunity to travel to Italy. While she did provide a recommended substitute coordinator and, after some back and forth communication, comped the cost of coordination, the last-minute change created a lot of added pressure. The new coordinator was extremely kind and professional and truly did her best to step in and help, but she was put in a very difficult position having to pick up a situation she had not been a part of planning. Because of this, she understandably did not have the same understanding or expectations of what had been discussed and planned, which meant several things Cindy had originally agreed to help with were no longer going to be done. We ultimately had to step in and figure out many details ourselves during an already busy and emotional time. Because of these communication gaps, our timeline was not finalized until just a few days before the wedding, making it very difficult to properly coordinate with vendors. In fact, several vendors reached out to us directly because they had not been contacted with necessary information. Given that agreements and payments had been in place since March 2025 for an April 2026 wedding, this level of disorganization was incredibly stressful and disappointing. There were also a few execution issues on the day of the wedding, such as the wrong wine being set out initially, which while corrected, added unnecessary stress in the moment. That said, we are incredibly grateful for Sabrina, Mike, and Leslie, along with a few other staff members, who truly stepped up in a big way. They went above and beyond, took on extra responsibilities, and worked hard to make things right. We genuinely would not have been able to have the amazing day we did without their support and effort. While we did have a wonderful wedding and appreciate the beauty of the venue itself, we invested a significant amount for the venue, alcohol, and coordinator. Because of this, we feel it is important to share that we would not recommend working with Cindy specifically, as the coordination aspect did not meet expectations and added a great deal of unnecessary stress. We say this with hesitation, as she is kind and personable, and we truly wish the experience had been different. We hope this feedback is helpful for future couples when planning their special day. read more

The wine was great, but service was awful! I had a friend in town and of all the wineries, I wanted to take her to Point Lookout. We waited in line to place our order for at least 15 minutes, and WE WERE THE FIRST IN LINE! The snarky waitress finally got around to taking our flight order, but she rushed us through and did not explain the wine menu so we missed out on the "mead". After our tasting, we both bought two bottles of wine, and again, no help from staff. We had to grab our own bottles, wait a long time to get rung up, and no "thank you for your business". Who knew Hendo had so many beautiful wineries! Point Lookout is my absolute favorite winery in western NC. Situated on the top of a gorgeous mountain with panoramic views, delicious wine, and the cool breeze of the NC mountains! Tons of wine to choose from but I recommend their dry sparkling wines as they aren't too sweet. Sometimes they have rose slushies and people love those! They do sell food but I recommend bringing your own meats and cheeses and making a picnic on top of the mountain. Trust me, you won't want to leave once you're there! Another spectacular vineyard within the mountains of hendersonville NC. They have some stunning views to enjoy while sampling any of the their wonderful wines. The seating is not quite as intimate as other vineyards and they do cater to the dogs, just as the owners. Although they appeared to have a decent small plates menu, I found the prices on them to be a bit high, which was fine since we brought our own charcuterie selection to enjoy. They do have one red in particular that I became quite fond of, it was a bit sweeter than what I am used to but a nice change. The 2016 Javine offered an added taste of chocolate and coffee, since it is a bit sweet one bottle was my limit. The also offer flights of wine, but a flight is typically more than just half a shot and at 12 dollars per flight, your better off just picking a bottle. There was a lot to choose from, plenty of dry and plenty of sweet and also a lot of "meads" (made with honey), but they give a paper menu that explains each of them and you number off which 6 you want. We enjoyed the different flavors!! The tasting cups are super small, but for getting 6, the price is pretty good! We loved sitting outside and enjoying them together. Wandering on a pleasant drive on a beautiful late winter morning, when it was actually spring and not as much winter, we finally arrived at the mountaintop of Point Lookout Vineyards. There's parking under the hill and parking just above, although not much there. But we got lucky. There's seating inside and outside on both ends of the building. Both have beautiful views, and receive pleasant weather when the day is nice. We opted for a bottle of the red blend wine and a pizza. This wine had a gentle nose with a hint of cool smoke, The pallet was soft ted fruit, low acid, and gentle tanins. It went wonderfully with the pizza, which was a Philly steak. Whoever made that pizza did a great job! They had live music with a quite talented, solo guitarist. It was a birthday party inside as well. If you're lucky as we were in a gorgeous day we were able to sit outside at a table with an umbrella and take in some sun and amazing Mountain View. What could be better? I discovered it almost by accident while driving back from Chimney Rock on a trip to Asheville a few years ago, and I have stopped in every trip since then and shared this gem with all friends visiting the area. The wine and mead tastings are delightful. For red wine drinkers who lean to the sweeter side, do not sleep on the mocha javine! We were told the secret to this wine are the coffee beans from the owner's cafe in Charlotte. While the wine is divine, the real highlight of Point Lookout lies in its gorgeous mountain views and cozy indoor space, complete with tabletop firepits in the winter. Obviously they have good production of wine grape. I come here for the flight of wine. They allow you to have two glass free or paid $10 for six different types. I got the six glass tasting. I like their merlot, Javine mocha. The other is not worth mentioning. The merlot was smooth. The javine mocha has a bit coffee taste in the red wine. It is kind of unique. I also try their mead.
