I figured I'd give the new Captain Morgan White a try. At $25 I figured it was a premium product similar to 10 Cane. Just out of curiosity I looked it up online just now and it has a $16 MSRP. At $25, they are marking it up over 50%! 1L bottles of Bacardi were $22 and Bully Boy White Rum was $35. I picked up some Layer Cake wine recently and remember it was on sale for 2-for-35. EDIT: After posting my original review, the owner, Jeff, contacted me. He sounds like a really nice guy and actually is going to adjust the prices of some of the items to make them more competitive (including a great deal on Layer Cake). And yes, they will carry 10 Cane for $25. Thanks for the email, Jeff. I've bumped you a couple stars.

Liquor Hub is the old Upper Falls Liquors in Newton. Upper Falls was a well known classic in the…read moreNewton area with a good selection of Wine/Beer and spirits. They were recently sold to a local chain Liquor Hub. Liquor Hub is well known in Massachusetts for its modern stores, killer selection of products and fantastic service. When I first walked into the store you could immediately feel and see the dramatic changes. The space was fully renovated and it gave a completely new look to the store. The front area of the store was reorganized- it was spacious to make for easy checkout. It also had a big area of grab and go items - small size liquor and wine for those always necessary impulse buys :) The aisles in the store were very efficient- they clearly identified the wine varietals/types of liquors and non-alcoholic products which made is very quick and easy to shop. The wine cooler was sizable and contained a vast selection of products...said differently, there was something for everyone in every category of wine! One of my pet peeves going into a store that does not have enough cold wine - most stores are limited. They also have some very creative displays and popular brands on the end of the aisles. The first display I noticed was the Seaglass Wine display- it was very New England and screamed Beach and Summer - a great display going into the winter. When it gets cold, us New Englanders will pine for the warm weather again !!! The beer cooler is massive and is in process of being replaced with newer, more modern equipment. Also, they were in process of finishing out a beautiful cigar room that I can't wait to see. It will be located in the front part of the store. Overall, Liquor Hub is a fantastic store and a great edition to the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly/helpful and you're guaranteed to find any brand you are looking for as well as hard to get items. Pricing on items are as competitive as it gets and you will definitely save money on your purchases. Highly recommend! Congratulations to the new owners !
