This required my husband to reverse back up the driveway onto the busy road. We were directed to park our camper van on the street which required walking on the nature strip immediately outside the Hotel. . Monday 11 November 2024, I walked two steps on the nature strip and fell into a deep hole. Notified Front Desk Manager who immediately went to the CCTV cameras for verification and returned with an Incident Report form. She offered us zero assistance as my left foot was swelling fast and then I was informed that she was the First Aid Officer. A complaint was made and the following day the General Manager sat with my husband and I for breakfast. He was very open and honest with us and stated that he had reported the hole to Gold City Council but they needed to replace the concrete kerb guttering so the issue was ignored. I went to a Gold Coast doctor on the day of the incident who informed me that my left foot was badly bruised. Two and a half weeks later, a MRI was undertaken and I had fractured bones, torn tendons and mild plantar fasciitus. The MRI results were sent to the Mercure Hotel Manager who told me that he thought I was fine because I was walking on the foot! He could have put a barrier around the hole to prevent this incident but he failed me completely. Foot is not healing so may require surgery. Two x-rays, a MRI and an ultrasound.

My partner and I only stayed at the hotel for a night, so I can only really comment on the customer…read moreservice and the room provided, not on facilities such as the swimming pool or restaurant. The staff were friendly enough, the bedroom was modern and the water pressure was good. Free underground parking was also good, as many hotels on the Gold Coast charge for this. The TV however lacked Foxtel channels, and I was disappointed to see that room service ended at 10PM (according to the menu), when I was hungry a bit later on. Since filling out the hotels feedback survey, I have been told that the room should have had Foxtel, and that there was a limited 24/7 menu. They said that they would investigate, though offered no compensation. These complaints may be a bit trivial and wouldn't put me off recommending the hotel for a place to stay, though at the same time I will probably go somewhere a bit nicer next time, and would not recommend the hotel for a romantic weekend away.

The holiday park is in such a convenient location, making it perfect for families. It is close to the Gold Coast airport which means airplanes will be taking off and landing everyday, but we love planes so we enjoyed watching them! The waterpark and pool were a huge highlight -- the kids had an absolute blast! Mum was a bit scared of waterslides but then found one she enjoyed, then we couldn't get her to leave! Dad tried going down one of the waterslides and the water stopped in the middle, he had to drag himself down the rest of the way! It took us a long to time to figure out that there is a button to activate the water! We also loved the Friday movie nights by the pool, which created such a fun family atmosphere. We cooked in the cabin some delicious Mexican food which we ate during the movie - everyone was jealous because it smelt delicious-!! Also, make sure to bring your popcorn as the Mini Mart in the reception doesn't sell any. Dessert and food trucks visit often, which was a lovely treat. The ice cream is delicious! The Sea Salt Caramel and Macadamia is definitely a recommendation! There are so many activities available, including kayaking, go-karting, and stand-up paddle boarding for only $10 per hour. Kayaking in the lake was amazing, especially after we saw the stingray swimming underneath us! Don't worry nothing dangerous. If you go Go - karting, make sure you are high on carbohydrates because you will need a lot of leg power for the two person kart. After we finished, our legs immediately turned to jelly. But it was definitely worth it!! The kids enjoyed the jumping pillow, playground, and outdoor play zone with games like ping pong, mini golf, giant chess, and sport courts for soccer, basketball, or cricket. Equipment can be hired easily from reception, and there's even a pickleball court. The Sprinkles Bakehouse and Playground were fun since the kids had supervised cooking and craft sessions in the bakehouse. The camp kitchen and BBQ area were great for family meals, and fishing in the lake was another enjoyable option. Another fun thing was that we were visited by Australian Water Dragons each morning. Apparently they were playing hide and seek because they were hiding then chasing each other. At the end of the day, they were always waiting for us to give them something to eat. One small suggestion would be to add cushions to the outdoor, reclining chairs in the cabin, as they were very uncomfortable. Dad loves reading outside with his coffee, but after 30 minutes of sitting in that chair, he almost broke his coccyx. Overall, this place is fantastic for families, and we can't wait to come back. In fact there is no theme in this place other than the fact that it is a pub, and a pretty stock standard pub at that. Sure, it has a restaurant and a sports bar as well as a pokies room hidden away behind a wall of frosted glass, but that is pretty much about it. Also I have to say that the staff really didn't seem to be all that enthusiastic in their job, which sort of put me off the place even more. It's a nice hotel, very well situated…read more Light rail literally stops in front of the hotel, so you can take the Brisbane Airtrain, transfer to light rail, and get right to the hotel for about $50 all in. Or, take the Airtrain to the Narang station (closest to hotel) and then catch an Uber. That's about $10 more in total, but also a bit faster. The hotel has a nice restaurant area. Very open, well-lit, and right next to the pool. Breakfast buffet is well stocked with a huge variety of pretty much whatever you want, including fried rice. I'm oryzivorous, so I appreciate fried rice any time. You can also order custom omelets if the steam-tray scrambled eggs don't suit your taste. I went here for a conference (both last time and this), and found the facilities very nice. Unlike many venues, you don't have to walk a mile from your room to the conference center. The beach is about four blocks from the front door, around the corner. So, with light rail on one side and the beach on the other, it's a great location. There's also an airport in Gold Coast, just down the street. But there aren't a lot of flights, so if you miss a connection, there may be added hassle. Just a note for the wary traveler. One final note for no apparent reason: The room keys are wooden with the chip inside. Kinda pointless and cool.

We decided to visit Peppers Salt Resort and Spa at Kingscliff after hearing rave reviews and they weren't wrong! It was a great place to visit with the kids - they had a ball. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old. It is probably aimed at families visiting with older kids (e.g. 7+) but we still loved it. They have two fantastic pool areas - a Tropical pool, which gets sun most of the day and has a spa area and the vast Lagoon pool, which includes sand, plunge pools and also a spa. It features deck chairs in the sand area, where cocktails can be ordered from the bar and brought over to you. We purchased a package with two rooms and a bath spa. It overlooked the Tropical pool. I believe all rooms feature at least a pool view. When we opened our front door, it had a foyer area with another two main doors behind it, so it could be split...if you were visiting with friends. One side of the resort is a Quiet area, so if you were looking at visiting for a bit of peace and quiet, you can do that too. Our package also included a buffet breakfast daily. What I really enjoyed about this, was the fact that everything was freshly made...including the eggs - no powered egg here. They also offer in-house movies for free, which means you can watch most of the recent rentals for free! This was great for when the kids were in bed. We had to visit the GP for a sudden rash that developed with my daughter while there (turned out to be a sunscreen allergy) and the reception staff were great. They rang around and found someone who could fit us in and then told us where to go. Everything is in walking distance for your convenience. This includes, the beach (not flagged though), a pub which has a great playground for kids, restaurants, a gelato shop, hair salon, bottle shop and IGA for your shopping needs. In comparison to the previous reviewer, we actually found the restaurants relatively priced but the prices of ordering room service or visiting in-house spa, quite pricey. We were also disappointed by the dessert menu available, so we didn't order in. Negatives to our stay: - Bad internal communication. I had run up weeks in advance to be assured they had a cot for our room. I was reassured there was one but when I arrived, they had the notes but they hadn't been passed onto room keeping, so they had to bring up a cot. Similarly, they one of us listed for breakfast, instead of 4. - Really poor signage. The signage in the place was really disappointing. I'd expect more. You had to navigate for yourself out of the lift, just to find the reception. Similarly, you had to guess where the Tropical pool was located and if the Season restaurant was where you were meant to have breakfast. I didn't even try to find the gym! - Noise can carry and we unfortunately had a group who wanted to party above our place one night while our young kids were trying to sleep. I know this can't really be helped by the resort. - We had swimmers fall over the balcony, which of course was once again our fault but normally you could go get them yourself from where they fell. In this case, we had to ring reception and trouble the guests that were staying below just to retrieve them because they fell into their 'private' but not so private plunge pool area. Positives: - Facilities, including individual room facilities - Capsule coffee machine in room (but only first two capsules were free) - Didn't have to bring own cot, had highchairs - Walking distance to everything - In-room movies - The staff really do go out of their way for you

Nothing was ever too much trouble, she went above and beyond to ensure that our day was perfect, and the staff were all fantastic! We had visitors of the possum variety as well as wallaby's and bush turkeys! The lady looking after this place was just lovely and there was a morning delivery of breakfast items - which was totally non-intrusive! It's a pitty that I got a furball (toncillitis) while up here though, spent the weekend in bed. However there's also a spa that overlooks the forest as well in the cabin which was lovely. There is no "kitchen" so to speak of. There's an area where there's a fridge, kettle and kitchen items. However there's no sink or stove. There's a BBQ outside that you can cook on and there's also a sink outside that was used to clean your dirty dishes as well. This is the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars.

Look beyond that and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Our apartment was very large, clean and welcoming. It's perfect for 4 or 5 people and if the internal configuration was better (and it could be) it could easily house 6-8. It has great views and a large balcony and all the amenities one requires including a full kitchen, pantry with some odds, a full laundry, two bathrooms and a car park. It has great security and you generally require your key/pass to get anywhere including to your floor, to the carpark, gym, games room and even the outside areas which include the pool, bbq's, tennis court etc. There were some minor maintenance issues but all apartments would be different and some may be better than others. I refer to things like a dirty old kettle, a warped frying pan, a broken power switch, a damaged remote control etc. Overall it's quite, secure, spacious and a lovely place to stay.

At the time, I was given an…read moreexcellent rate for a studio room by receiving a discount for being one of the over 2100 victims involved in a then-recent accommodation company's bankruptcy on the Gold Coast. The Mantra and Breakfree properties were kind enough to offer a discount on bookings, as many people had to wind up rebooking accommodations as a result of this incident. This was much appreciated! As I arrived at the property at around 11:30 a.m., my studio room was not yet ready. The reception staff was very kind and allowed me to store my luggage until check-in. I could tell right off that this property stays very busy, which is never a bad sign. It was great to be able to explore the area until later on in the afternoon. The Mantra is in a perfect location right on the Marine Parade, centrally located to just about everything. Not to mention some of the best surf breaks in the world! Everything in the studio room, which turned out to be room 208, was in excellent working condition with no excessive wear. I did have some trouble with the wireless internet connection after I had prepaid for three days, but I cannot fault the Mantra for this, as the internet company is separate. Turns out I was able to get a partial refund with no problems. It seems like it took the hot water about two seconds longer to get hot in comparison to some of the other properties I had stayed at on this holiday, but it wasn't a big concern. Some of the amenities in the room included a powerful air conditioning/heating unit, fully-stocked kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, utensils, and just about everything one would need for a holiday. Ample closet space, queen size bed, a medium-sized balcony overlooking the courtyard (unfortunately all of the one bedroom ocean view apartments stayed constantly booked up until my arrival, but I did try!), a small ceiling-mounted television set, and a bathroom with a washer and dryer. The swimming pool, spa and barbecue areas were very modern and well-maintained. I'd definitely stay at the Mantra Coolangatta Beach again. My only regret was not being able to find a vacant ocean view unit, but I'll definitely be back. Great staff, good waves, and an overall fun area.
