I cannot remember the last time a company upset me this much. It took them over 2 weeks to send someone out to fix my window. On three occasions during that two week period they told me someone was coming out to my home. No one ever showed up as far as I know. On one of those three occasions they told me someone actually did come out and called my cell (as I had requested), but that I was not home. I work in my home office and there is no way I could miss a phone call- my phone is literally right next to me. Plus, I had no voicemail indicating they called. They finally came out to repair my window today and I called the office to ask if there were any coupons available that I can apply to my bill before the job was done and the lady who picked up said she just gave out her last one. I then said, "considering you've had me waiting more than two weeks to have someone come out don't you think you can apply the coupon to my bill." She then went on a rant that their company is going to start charging people if they aren't home when their guys come out to repair a window (essentially putting me back on the defensive and not helping the situation at all). I can go on, but long story short is that these guys not only treated me poorly, were unprofessional, but they also didn't even have the courtesy to apply a standard coupon to my bill. Galveston is small so I went with these guys because I really didn't have the time to research any other options. They are a large company so I figured their pricing would be fair. I will unlikely use this company again. This is my "buyer beware" warning. read more

This place made my day. I had a chip on the center of my windshield and I was pretty upset bc I just got a brand new car. I took it in and Justin fixed it in 5 minutes and now it's barely visible. Their initial, service charge is $175, which covers nothing. We called them to fix a shower door. We told them the size of the door, when we ordered the service. They sent one guy out and the door was too big. They then had to send out an extra guy. They had to work on the door a second day because they had to leave the first day. They couldn't fix the second day, because they didn't have the right part and scratched the old hinge. Not to mention they were VERY late to this meeting. They fixed it fine on the 3rd day, but left shards of glass and metal all in the shower and bathroom. They also did not clean the glass. They wore dirty, muddy shoes in the house and didn't clean up after themselves. When I went to pay the owner, Ron Sandlin, he has added $19.99 gas charge, which he never disclosed. He also added a caulk, screws and bolts charge of another approx. $20, which was never disclosed beforehand. I asked if these were charges on every call and he said yes. I explained that we wouldn't have a problem with charges, if he would have disclosed them up front. He was clearly irritated that I questioned these charges. He then said he would take them off, but was going to make notes on my account that they will never do business with me again. I would NEVER do business with this man again. Called the Houston number by mistake and got a quote on a shelf. When I called the Galveston number, it was 50% higher. Each location seems to make their own prices. I waited to get the shelf in Houston. I am not afraid to go over that big bridge to by things when a local business gouges on pices. read more

I don't understand why Binswanger is receiving bad reviews. I am a local Galveston resident and they repair glass counter tops, windows, etc. at my home all the time. I have received nothing but the very best service and pricing. I rate them as one of my best customer experiences in all of Galveston and I use contractors all the time as I have rental property that constantly requires repairs. read more

My glass shopping experience was exactly what I wanted. I called for a quote and possible appointment to have the windshield replaced on my 2006 Nissan Altima. The quote provided was (by my research) a little under what was expected for the job (Nissan windshield, no knock-off brand). And, they had an appointment slot the next morning between 8 and 10, and were willing to give me a ride if I needed one to another spot on the island. I dropped my car off at 8 am and I was driven to work. Around lunch time I was notified that the car was ready, and I had a co-worker drop me off. I paid the amount that was quoted - and I cannot over-estimate how happy I am with the work. The mirror looks like it is fastened on well, the moulding/sealing looks fine around the edges of the windshield, and they transferred the registration sticker from the old windshield to the new one seemingly perfectly. The customer service was pleasant and friendly, the product looks perfect, and the price was more than reasonable - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their work to friends and co-workers on the island and in the Galveston area. read more

Bad business. Was quoted $760 and was billed $1,700. This was to have (3) bathroom mirrors replaced. Binswanger said "oops, we forgot to quote labor". Well, that's not my problem. Besides, had a few other estimates that were all around $900 - proving they price gouge their customers. Mgr/owner??? acted like he would make good on the ridiculous invoice, but won't call me back. read more

Worst service ever, had a new windshield installed and a week later it had a huge crack coming from the wiper cowl, took it in and was told it's because the truck is lifted and the windshield can't handle the weight. Wth. After it got replaced a tech stated it must've been installed wrong, so a couple months later I started getting water inside my truck, I looked for a leak everywhere until I found it to be my windshield leaking on driver and passenger sides. I took it back in and showed the same guy I've been dealing with and he stated it must be coming from somewhere else, he kept pointing to other places it may be coming in. After watching him try to find fault everywhere else he finally tested the windshield and sure enough it was not sealed properly on both sides. He finally agreed to replace it but not after the water that was leaking down the pillars ruined a body control module and another module, much less all the water that soaked into the padding on a truck with 22k miles. All my friends, family, and coworkers have chosen to do business elsewhere. read more
