Our hardwood floors started buckling so we decided to get them redone. Shaun and his crew were so great. He kept in contact with us the whole time.. His crew worked all hours of the day until the evening for 3 weeks. We replaced our subfloors and had original hardwood floors which they salvaged 60% of the original floors. We decided to go with a lighter stain rather than the dark that we had, and it makes our small home look so much bigger. We also replaced some joists, pier and beams from our crawl space and they cleaned out our crawl space and put plastic down to encapsulate it with new vents that open and close with high or low humidity levels. They cleaned up all the leftover mess of wood and bricks which was much appreciated. It was a big job and everyone worked super hard even on the weekends. The price we got quoted from 4 other companies were ridiculous, and Shaun had the best rates for what they did. These guys just replaced and upgraded the entire pier and beam foundation of an old house we just bought, along with some joist and flooring repairs. I wish I can give minus five stars! They came out, took the money, did half the job, left holes underneath my house and ruined my foundation in 2015. And never had an inspector come out to inspect their work oh, because it was crappie work! I have been calling them and calling them and calling them and he would promise a appointment and then be a no-show no call and then I try to get him out here again and now as of June 2020 we had Olshan come out and do a free assessment of the house and they said it's going to be $23,000 to fix what they ruined! I am an investor buying and selling properties and have used Stable Foundation 5 or 6 times over the years. They are reliable and an honest company. They do what we agree upon and they always clean up afterwards. They also have the most reasonable price compared to the work done, expert carpentry and finish my job once they start. This was in response to an inquiry for a contractor on "Nextdoor" here in Galveston: I'd give Shaun at Stable Foundation a call -- 409-925-4105 -- at least as a second opinion. Over the past few years I've spent a significant amount (many, many thousands) with him rebuilding, remodeling, repairing extending my two homes here -- projects ranged from replacing a door to replacing all the windows / residing the entire house to adding on a bedroom / bathroom on pilings to a kitchen gut / remodel to removing a load bearing wall to re-concreting the entire property to a new HVAC to building out a bath / climate controlled storage in the garage and so on. His prices are always fair, his work quality is always high. He has a great folks and great subs. We went for second opinions on several of these "projects" (didn't know or try Dale) but the fact that I'm recommending any contractor that works the island says something. Yes, you will have your moments when you want to know why the workers came at 9 and left at 3 OR didn't show at all. Don't care which contractor you chose, you'll have to stay on top of that. read more

We hired stable to fix a beam under our house and they did a fantastic job. So we hired them again to repair a back wall and replace some piers. I can not begin to express how disappointed and upset I am at the work that was done. We constantly had to point out things that they had missed... They claimed they had replaced siding and had instead puttied over it, they didn't pull permits when they said they did, the boards they said they replaced are already rotting less than a year later, the siding was not sealed and water has gotten under it and the piers they installed were at an angle and not level. I constantly had to get them to come back and fix details they should have done and while they did come back and fix some of it, the boards are still unsealed and the others are rotting and they complained that we were asking them to do work we hadn't that wasn't in the contract. Do not hire unless you feel like babysitting and chasing them for over a year to do work that will never get done. read more

My nephew hired this company about a month ago, paid them and he's still waiting to hear back from them. The came back about a week ago to "finish up" the job but were there about an hour and left, shovels and all and we haven't heard back since. I'm his aunt and I'm helping him to try and get them to call him back so they can finish the job. It's holding him up from doing other work on the house.
