Good place off the beaten path where locals dine! We were the only tourists in this place and it felt really nice to eat like a local and experience the ambiance. (4 stars) The lentil burger was pretty good, I would definitely recommend this. I liked their homemade yucca chips. (2 stars) The seitan with rice on the other hand, wasn't not good at all. The flavor was lacking and tasted bland. I would've sent it back if I could. The servers were all really nice and the restaurant was cute. They had a birthday party table and they all sang happy birthday which was really nice. It has a nice home/local feel to it instead of the touristy spots on La Rambla. read more

Year after year, this lovely gem holds my heart. I've been coming here for over 10 years and the quality of the food is absolutely amazing. The dishes are healthy, the portions are generous, and the sweets at the end, if you can fit them in, are incredibly tasty. I would definitely recommend that you order from the menu del día if you're liking the options there because it's a GREAT deal. You'll get a drink, a large appetizer, an entree and a dessert for a good price. My recent must-haves: - the gazpacho - it's always super refreshing and I'd give a lot for the recipe because what I make at home never compares - the seitan - perfectly crunchy nuggets that melt in your mouth and make you eat waaaaay more than you probably should - the poke bowl - a delightful and unexpected treat. I could probably eat this every day. - the burger - a definite heavy hitter. So damn good. - the canelones or ravioli - yummmmm. The raw lasagna is bomb too - the lemon coconut cake... the carrot cake... the home made kefir... the cheese cake - clearly I have a sweet tooth, and it's hard as hell to pick between so many amazing desserts. Judging from the more than average reviews we were hoping for a little more from Biocenter. The food was good, but not all dishes were worth the more than average price we paid. We chose the daily menu consisting of tofu stew, seitan with mashed potatoes and a piece of cheesecake with raspberry sauce. We tried some empanadas on the side, and the mushroom ravioli as a main dish. The stew tasted mostly of bouillon and lacked vegetables and the empanadas were a little dry and bland. The main dishes - seitan and ravioli - were a little more exciting and had more taste than the starters. The cheesecake was delicious! The kitchen closed at 11 and the restaurant at 12, but already before 11 the staff began packing away the decorations on the other tables, giving us the feeling that we had to hurry to finish our meal - not a feeling you want to have when you're eating out. Overall Biocenter is a cozy place with nice decor, but we left wanting a little more spice from the food and staff. read more

Landed in Barcelona and went to Biocenter for our first meal of the trip. Definitely set us off on the right foot. The rather large restaurant is part of the Slow Food movement which seems to be fairly prevalent amongst the Vegan/Vegetarian places in the city. On weekends and dinners during the week there is wait service. Otherwise it's buffet style for lunch the rest of the week. Tempeh, Seitan and tofu dishes all grace the menu which was a pleasant surprise. The food overall was clean, flavorful and filling. Wouldn't hesitate to eat here again on a future trip. read more

An average vegetarian spot in Barcelona. We were at Biocenter for dinner and ordered the Girasoles Rojos, which was a dried tomato and goat cheese ravioli, with cherry tomatoes, walnuts and sage butter. Overall we found the pasta to be underdone and hard, and the sauce not particularly flavorful. The underdone pasta was the deal clincher- we decided not to order anything else. Drinks: For drinks we had a lemonade on the menu that was generously sized. Overall, we wouldn't return here- while the service was excellent and attentive and the restaurant only had two other people seated, there are great vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona that we'd prefer to return to. read more

From the moment I stuck my head through the door at Bio-Center, I was made exceptionally welcome, I thought at one point I would get hugged, have a dish named after me or offered the mayorship of my own town. Maybe they mistook me for a celebrity, life on the road has after all left me looking like Chewbacca from behind but whatever the reason, it was hearty welcome and a welcome one at that. The restaurant is stunning inside with quirky objet d'art and interesting sculptures perched upon bookcases and with old standard floor lamps providing the lighting. That was absolutely an amazing vegetarian food experience which I experienced and never expected in Barcelona. Spain is famous for eating barbecue and fried food. It was a big surprise. The restaurant is situated in a great location quite close to famous place "la rambla". The restaurant decoration/feature is simple with warm wall Spanish colours. There are different changing daily menus to choose and additionally to the menu you chose you can take a plate from buffet (salad, cooked vegetables, boiled eggs... + a daily soup). We ate very tasty freshly-baked pumpkin vegetable mixture lasagne in a delicious creamy sauce (gratin dish). The daily vegetable soup was fresh and delicious. The salad buffet was very fresh and very good. In another day we ate a tasty vegetable cake with a very delicious creamy pumpkin sauce. There was a fresh delicious daily dessert to enjoy. The price which we paid is cheap for the offered high food quality. The service is very friendly and very helpful. I have been meaning to pop into Biocenter for a couple of weeks now and am glad I finally did. I ordered the "cereals with milk and fruit", some rooibos ginger tea and a fresh juice of apples, carrots and beetroot and it was the a great start to the day. The juice was fabulous and the rest of the food was as you would expect (I didn't order anything terribly exciting) and I was pleased to see that they had soymilk as an option which is rather few and far between in Barcelona. Beyond the food, the man who greeted and served me as well as the woman peeking around the pace and getting ready for the day were both incredibly friendly. Excellent restaurant all around! Found this place thanks to a recommendation from a local organic food market manager. BEST SEITAN I've ever had. My husband had the empanadillas and was also pleased. Dessert was also great. We shared one of their vegan chocolate cakes. It was a bit pricey but it didn't have to be if we ordered from their daily menu (which includes a salad buffet). I really enjoyed the buffet salad bar. Lots of choice with enough options for protein (such as boiled eggs , and nuts). We took the lunch 10 euro menus and our main dishes (mine was a vegan paella, my friend had the quiche ) were a bit uneventful , but still satisfying enough. Dessert was a happy event since they had 2 gluten free cakes to offer - both the banana coconut and the chocolate one were very tasty.
