After your first appointment and brief nurse assessment / physical, you get your debit card and can load the corresponding payment app. The whole process takes anout an hour and a half from check in, online or app survey, and preliminary finger stick testing (iron, protein), blood pressure and weight to hook up and completion. Most technicians give good sticks. There are no appointments, so you are at the mercy of the masses. Some days are not busy, but most are. Thank goodness for our "pacifiers" (cell phones!) Don't be a wus - help others while making paper!!! (No pictures or talking on the phone while inside).

It's also important to arrive without being overheated to prevent any skewing of vital signs data. For new donors, the initial consultation is comprehensive, taking about four hours. This includes a pre-questionnaire, blood test, detailed questionnaire, nurse review, physical examination, and the plasma extraction process itself, which averages one hour. After extraction, there's a 15-minute observational period to ensure donors' safety. It's crucial to eat a decent meal and drink plenty of water before your appointment, while avoiding caffeine, to prepare your body for donation. Additionally, don't forget to bring essential documents: your driver's license and Social Security card, or a W-2 form with your full Social Security number visible and current address matching your driver's license. Although the staff can look up information through LexisNexis, bringing these documents can streamline the process.
