For your first visit expect up to 3 hours or more for screening and plasma draw. You'll meet at the front desk, show your documents, get your finger scanned, a finger poke, blood pressure and temp taken. Then you'll answer a computer health questionnaire and meet with a nurse to go over any health questions and get a physical. The staff were mostly great though they seemed in a hurry. I was there on a Tuesday, one of the busier days including Sunday, and there was about a 12 person queue for initial examination. Thankfully as a new patient I was put the the front like I said. This place is ok. The lines are long. They need more staff. It would be nice if there was a BioLife on my side of the bridge so I didn't have to drive a hour to be told I couldn't donate. There is nothing saying you can't bring your children under the ages of 15 which would be helpful. Definitely read your promotional coupon. You're not going to make tons of money donating. After the first month the donation amounts decrease significantly and once you make $600 you will get a tax form because it's considered income. There is a person named Nurse Lewis and he needs more education and instruction on how to be a phlebotomist. His bed side manner wasn't good or bad. Just bland. Once he stuck my vein there was a problem so he had to get someone else so I was stuck a second time. When my donation was over my arm hurt and now I am covered in bruises and my arm still hurts and it been 3 days! There was no concern from him at all. read more

I'm extremely frustrated with the process of donating plasma. I registered on February 13, and as of March 20, my paperwork is still not processed. It was sent from my doctor's office, and I'm unsure if BioLife is having issues with their fax machine or if they simply haven't checked it. Despite calling at least once a week, I have not received a single return call. I've scheduled multiple appointments anticipating my paperwork would be completed and reviewed, but each time I've had to cancel. I've also gone in person to inquire about my paperwork, but the communication has been unacceptable. It feels like they don't want my plasma, and this situation needs immediate attention. Update: I got a call today after posting this review. I still have to wait another week for their Dr to review. We'll see. read more

I've been donating here for two months now. This is my first experience donating plasma and I had no idea what to expect. I've been treated extremely well here by every employee I've interacted with. If you're new; make sure to start during a month you know you can commit to make the most of the new donor bonus -- you have to be consistent those 4 weeks to hit your $$. I wasn't thinking that far out and didn't realize I was out of town for my last week and missed out on a few hundred then had to adjust to the normal pay which is still totally worth it but definitely not as nice as the 1st month. Fitst visit... I had zero idea what to expect! I was there probably 2.5 hours. This is due to initial screening, orientation stuff, physical, then donation (given you're an appropriate match). Weirdly I was thrown off during the physical having to list off all of my tattoos & their location. Having to say "cartoon devil on my lower back" made me feel like I had to call my mom and apologize for who I am as a human being. Also suddenly sitting there in line to donate I had a strange shame wave like I was in line for my government cheese hand-out. Now these are clearly MY issues and I only say these things for the novice donor like me who maybe just needs a reality check. Live yo life, have no shame, get some monies for helping people who could benefit from your plasma. Follow up visits are quicker of course. Although depending on staffing, day of week, time of day... at its longest its been a bit over two hours. Quickest I've had is just under an hour. BE HYDRATED AND EAT RIGHT. My ridiculous self went once without eating or hydrating, thinking the night before I ate enough for the next day too. Guess who almost fainted in the parking lot? My BP tanked and I was an embarrassed mess as the lovely Angela & Brandon restored me to health (yall the goats). There's a reason they do everything they do - from asking you when you last ate, to taking your temp, to your hematocrit level. They're the professionals. Every phlebotomist I've had has been great. I wish I could rattle off all the names.... Larissa, Elizabeth, Angelica, Lezleigh, Kyla (i think?)... ugh theres more but my memory is poor. But seriously every staff member is out there doing a fantastic job. Can't say enough good things. Lots of businesses right now are suffering from short staff and this place is no different. Be kind. When they hooked the needle up it was leaking blood around the needle and my arm was on fired.The machine kept cutting off, the tech came and checked twice than finally said "I figured this wound happen" I asked what happened? Didn't get an response. They adjusted the needle I'm my arm reset the machine and walked away. Three minutes later the same thing happened. Another tech came over and said we would have to use the other arm. My arm was on fire at that point. I just told them I'm gonna stop because at this point my arm had a puddle of blood where the needle was inserted and if was pinching. Finally they pulled the needle, bandaged my arm, had a nurse come talk to me still didn't get the answer to my question "how and why did this happen. Why when BioLife is being paid an all time high for our plasma are we the ones making less each and every donation. Alright, first let me say that I am in school to be a medical assistant. I am taking the phlebotomy course for the next 4 weeks to be NHA certified. So hold on. This week's discussion question was on professionalism. I have never once seen that here. They are always understaffed, and everyone except one or two are so unprofessional. The same thing we have been discussing. Professionalism for a Phlebotomist. One time they got so backed up, a lady from the back was asked to come out and help. I have huge obvious veins and she still missed. The Manager came over with the most unprofessional joke as an attempt to normalize the failure with her staff. I learned in school to always allow the cleaned surface to air dry before you do your venipuncture or capillary puncture. I watch all staff, and right after they swipe, they stick. I am sure that against the CDC, CLIA, and WHO guidelines. I feel bad for the people that are trained here because they are trained wrong. Today the young lady was so inconsiderate providing patient care today. I wish I knew the names of other employees because I'd put them all on blast. One time I had to let them know there is dried blood on the floor. Does anyone know how dangerous that is? While I am never impressed with the service I receive there, my big concern is the NEGLIGENCE shown to patients and how no one knows. Today is it. I don't care how hungry I am, or what the situation is. I will NEVER go back to this disgusting and unprofessional place. I am confused on how they have not been evaluated and shut the heck down. They recently "fixed" the problem but the lines is still long as fck. 14 people to do the blood prick and 10 more waiting on beds. I don't see the improvement at all. I have donated once both at the Tukwila location and this Lacey location and I can say now that if you're in between the two locations and wish to donate with Biolife, the Lacey location seems to be the better choice overall. I went to the Tukwila one last month for my first time donating plasma and the place seemed chaotic. The layout of their location wasn't as nice as Lacey's, looked pretty outdated. They are definitely short staffed over there too cause it was so packed and lines were extremely backed up even for the people who have been in and didn't need to get the physical. The woman who did the finger prick to test my blood at Tukwila made a mistake the first time and had to poke another finger so two of my fingers got pricked that day and worst of all, I noticed when laying in the chair to donate that the few phelmbotomists on the floor were going from person to person hooking them up to the machines fast not changing gloves after touching these donors arms. It shouldn't take a glove breaking or getting blood on it to stop what you're doing and put on a new set of gloves before moving to hook up the next person up to the machine! I understand they're short staffed and there's a big line so they're probably feeling the pressure to just keep going to get people in and out faster but the health, well-being and safety of all donors as well as cleanliness should be their top priority!! In order to donate they have to test your blood first, you also have to have a physical with a nurse and fill out a questionnaire where you attest that you do not have diseases such as hepatitis and/or HIV but I'm sure there's people that have and will lie about their health status because they are being offered a cash incentive to donate so they need to take the extra precautions to make this a safe and more comfortable experience for everyone cause that is problematic and very worrisome. The nurse who did my physical there was very nice and helpful but aside from that, nothing really stood out in a positive way at Tukwila's location. At Lacey, it was busy as well but better organized. Lines seemed to move faster, there were more workers available to assist, I only had to do one finger prick for the blood testing and the woman who connected me to the machine here, Ash, was very pleasant to talk to. I didn't happen to notice weather or not she changed gloves after connecting me to the machine as she disappeared for a bit after getting me set up to do another task off the floor (so I can't really say weather or not that's an issue here as well, it very well could be) but I noticed before she assisted me that she was doing some cleanup and she did changed her gloves before assisting me which makes me feel more confident in her than the people working at Tukwila. A couple of the other employees were standing around chit chatting with co-workers for long periods of time which was annoying to watch but aside from that it was a good experience and while I may not donate plasma long term I'll likely come back to donate in Lacey a few more times. Promotions for payouts at Biolife are generally pretty good, they load the $$ onto a debit card for you immediately after each donation and you're really doing a good deed by donating but I feel I'll only return when I really need the extra cash as it's a bit of a drive for me. read more

Started coming here again recently and its worse than before; they're at half capacity by default because they only have half of their machines on the donor floor and only three people at max for the screening process, and even then they're never operating at that half strength because they have worse turnover than fast food places and often have people calling out, leaving like three or four floorstaff to handle the donations themselves. Several times recently, including at the time of writing this review, I've waited several hours before starting the donation itself, diluting the value of the compensation they give you for your time. This is in no small part due to the fact that their scheduling system is far worse than a first come, first serve basis as it incentivizes people to schedule to donate as early as possible while somehow leaving no consistency in their actual traffic flow. I used to have to schedule two weeks in advance, now there's almost always an opening at any given time because they dramatically i creased the availability of timeslots without actually improving their processing capabilities. Naturally they did this because they'd rather waste your time than allow for a bed to go empty for even a moment, which is shortsighted for multiple reasons, namely their diminished staff isn't able to keep up with the flow of people so you often wait a half hour in bed before starting the donation. From what I've gathered most issues fall on corporate being stupid and greedy so I try not to gripe at the staff because they can't help it. With all of that said, unless you're able to get here shortly after opening it likely is too troublesome to be worth it. read more

I consider myself has a new donor to receive $850 for 8 donations. Instead BioLife considers a new donor has never donated with Bio life ever for new donor promo. And existing donors get $40 for the first donation and $20 each on the next six donations. Total compensation $140 at end of 4 weeks of donating. Definition of a new donor and an existing donor after lapse of two years of not donating? Because as a existing donor coming back into BioLife I will still have to pass there physical exam. With that being said having a physical exam you're considered a new donor cuz I've had a lapse of not donating for over 2 years with biolife so I should receive new donor promotion of $850. read more

You schedule the initial prescreening appointment and then end up waiting past the time THEY give you. I think I waited 45 minutes. Then after you pass the screening you pick your time to come in twice a week which you would assume is staggered throughout the day to keep everything running smoothly. Every time I have come in it's a line of 5-20 people waiting just to get an open chair. Half of the center isn't even used it's been inactive since I've been going there. Clearly they're severely understaffed trying to run a targeted number of people through a half open, half staffed facility. I shouldn't have to wait 50 minutes just to get checked in and then sit there for another hour donating. Why have appointment times at all? read more

I have a terrible experience with this donation center. I was on the first time donor promotion last year when they inserted the needle incorrectly which caused a huge hematoma. On top of it they refused to give me all my blood back so I was deferred for 8 weeks so I received only about $300 out of $1000. I asked if my promotion can be extended since this is not of my fault and they said no, didn't even bother to explain why it happened and why they didn't give me my blood back through my other arm. That happened last year in May 2022, and until now I was donating in other centers with no problems. Until last week, I decided to go back to Biolife as they send me lapse donor promotions for $850. On the very first donation they took sample of my blood for a "SPE test". I was able to donate twice before the test results came back. Apparently the results came below the average and I was deferred. I had to come back again after a week to retake the test and it's been almost 3 weeks now since I couldn't donate and I still can't. The same exact thing happened to my husband, but they told him that his blood was apparently undetectable or something like that so he had to retake the test again. So weird as we never ever had problems with the initial tests that you have to go through to donate (poking the finger) and we have been both donating over a year. I honestly think this center defers people on purpose so they don't have to pay the higher fees. I asked for extending of the promotion again but the same as last time. They said it's my fault my protein is low and refused to show me the resuls. The customer service is terrible. I don't recommend going there. It's such a waste of your time. Find a better centre to go to. There are another 3 companies in the Tacoma area that are much better!!! read more

Never come here. I will start this by saying that 9/10 times, people aren't at BioLife because their life is going great, so to be so rude to people is wild. I'm literally here so you can recycle my blood for money so I'm not sitting pretty at the moment. I arrived 12 minutes late to an appointment because of an accident on the road but I didn't think it was a big deal since I figured I was the last appointment of the night, seeing that they closed in an hour and a half. It was my first time so I would have needed to do a physical. Upon arrival the lady behind the desk was alluding to there only being one nurse on duty, while the other nurse was sweeping next to me, she asks if I could still be taken because I was 20 MINUTES LATE. So she lied about me straight to my face. Not trying to be the angry black woman and cause a scene so I kept my mouth shut. The sweeping janitor nurse said they couldn't take me, like at all. Even though I would have had to be there for AT LEAST an hour doing a physical. So why I was turned away was very confusing. And it would have sucked a lot less if they weren't so cold about the whole situation and maybe apologized once. I just moved here from Minnesota and my job started later than I expected so I could have really used the money. I drove all the way from university place just to feel even worse about myself. So if you like to feel judged by a bunch of nurses, this is your place. I've been in the restaurant biz for 14 years and have waited on many nurses so I shouldn't be surprised by this behavior but damn. What a welcome to Washington state! read more
