I had an appointment at 9:50 for 8/7/26. There wasn't anyone at the reception desk when I arrived on time. I waited a few minutes and the technician in the first processing station finally came over and took me to his station. It went okay but I was rejected after the finger prick indicated low iron level. My rating would have been 4-star. This was not the same for my husband who had a 10:50 appointment. It was a complete disaster-- thus the 1-star rating. He arrived on time and waited at the reception desk 25 minutes before anyone acknowledged him. He made it through the initial processing and blood prick. He was then told to go to a booth to complete an EXTENSIVE questionnaire on a computer. The software was so bad my husband had to repeatedly keep tapping buttons to record his answers and move on. It took him nearly and hour because of the awful software issues, which were acknowledged by one of the staff. He was finally referred to the nurse for the physical and had to wait in a line that wrapped around almost the entire interior perimeter of the clinic. It took him back to the reception desk where a staff member told him to start over. He protested and then was taken to the nurse station where he waited again in a long line. The nurse rejected him due to a conflict with his medications. This was after two hours of being sent in circles, dealing with a barely functioning computer/software system, and a totally disorganized staff. We will never go back to this clinic. Last year after being a regular donor, I finished a plasma donation & was rushed to the ER because I was orthostatic from my arm not being wrapped tightly enough, and I bled heavily through my jacket by the time I walked to my car. When I walked back inside Biolife to get it rewrapped, I waited in a bloody mess for like 5 minutes since they're severely understaffed. After I got it rewrapped, I was left alone in a chair, passed out in the chair and hit my FACE on the ground, breaking my glasses. I spent 6 hours in the ER with a concussion and passing out whenever I tried to stand due to the severedehydration from the bleed. Don't donate here because the lack of staff has gotten dangerous, and places like Vitalant, CSL are safer. Also, the Biolife website never replied to my complaint because the company itself just doesn't care. Yay to a new glasses bill :/ read more

Spent 3hr on intake and was told id get $70 for my time since I could no longer stay to donate that day but I would still get paid for intake. They gave me a card which was never loaded. If you are taking Beta blockers, do not waste your time here. I went in yesterday to donate for the first time and spent over 3.5 hours waiting. When I finally saw the nurse for the physical, I was told I couldn't donate due to taking Atenolol. What frustrates me the most is that this medication is not listed anywhere on the health questionnaire or materials provided beforehand. I answered everything honestly and still wasted hours of my day only to be turned away at the last step. The staff and nurse were very friendly and I know it's not their fault, they were just doing their jobs. However, the way this company handles donor eligibility and communication is awful. Biolife needs to do a better job at clearly listing disqualifying medications before people spend hours in their centers. Ridiculous process. Would not recommend. read more

It was my first time here. Read the reviews and got myself prepped for disappointment. Arrived for a 10:45 appointment and got a tree shaded parking spot in the Trader Joe's complex. My appointment was confirmed, I showed them my driver's license & W2 (for my Social Security number), and I was asked when my last full meal was. Told them it was at 8:00, and Bailey handed me a packet of Goldfish crackers, a Luncheables, strawberry Ensure and bottle of mineral water. That was weird as food & beverages are handed out after donating, not before. Had to return the Luncheables as I wasn't hungry and am a grown adult. Sat at the waiting area for a while, and I was called by Emma for another set of questions. Showed her my proof of address, SSN and license for the second and last time with this encounter, and she registered my left middle finger for scanning. Took a spot where Emma was pointing and did another round of waiting. Bailey, again, called me and explained that she was going to check me for vital signs and do a fingerstick to check my hemoglobin levels. My initial BP was 79/43, which was unusually low for me. After another wait of 10 minutes, she rechecked my BP, and it was 169/99 this time. She told me it was within donation parameters, and I told her something must be wrong with the machine as my blood pressure doesn't ever fluctuate from very low to very high. She went with me as I was returning my documents to my car as they don't allow unaccompanied donors to go outside once registered due to incidents in the past, i.e., drinking alcohol and taking drugs, which sounded insane to me. Bailey then assigned me to a desktop screen where I answered more questions for about 20 minutes. I verified my identity with another fingerlrint scanner prior to proceeding. Waited some more, and Alonso, the RN, escorted me to a room for my physical and more questions related my desktop yes or no answers ie prescription meds and allergies. He gave me a squeezer and set-up my debit card for compensation. He then read a page full of plasma donation info, and I acknowledged agreeing to it. He also asked me if I came due to a referral and I eagerly gave him a name. He then escorted me to the front of the line for plasma donations. Finally. Positioned myself in the cold donor chair. Taishya (don't know if this is spelled accurately) hooked me to the plasmapheresis machine and I was done in less than an hour. She did explain to me what the components were and what she was going to do. Vilma, another phlebotomist, checked on me often until my procedure was done. It was so chilly while donating and I've seen other donors bring their own blankets and jackets for warmth as the center didn't provide it. I was told to sit in the waiting area for 15 minutes as that was protocol for new donors. After the timer wrang, Aimee gave me post donation instructions, i.e., eating a full meal, no strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours. Having donated frequent plasma at Bloodsource/Vitalant before, Biolife wasn't a bad experience. There was just a lot of waiting and patience involved. Got another appointment next week. Recently they started taking 20% MORE PLASMA. They never explained that they were going to do it. It take longer now AND they only pay out $50. They have these online deals to make more that you never qualify for. For me, it's just not worth it any more. Had a few huge hematoma's as well. read more

I've only went here once and i was very pleased with my experience. The app was very easy to use to schedule and reschedule appointments. I scheduled my appointment on a week day around 12 and there was no wait time and i was seen very quickly. It was my first time so they had to set up a profile for me, pricked my finger, took my height and weight. I forgot the name of the nurse that helped me out but she was very nice and professional. She made me feel comfortable and explained everything very clearly. I did unfortunately end up not meeting the criteria so i was turned away, but she explained why, very clearly and explained what things i should do before i come back. I was out of there in probably 15/20 minutes and didn't need to sit and wait for any amount of time. I will update this review after i end up actually donating. read more

Do not come here. Came here for their promotion which promised higher payouts, which was the only good thing. Their wait times are atrocious. First time I went I had to wait four hours just to get my physical done, then at least another hour for the actual donation. I also had at least two times where I had to wait an hour AFTER THE DONATION WAS COMPLETE to be unhooked from the machine. They also don't know how to bandage you up afterwards properly because after following their exact aftercare instructions I was still bleeding out of the needle site 4-5 hours after the donation. All in all, do not recommend due to - - obnoxious wait times - poorly trained staff - oh and did I mention wait times?! read more

So far have tried to donate plasma twice. For one...I can really use the extra income. For two it's for a great cause to help others. First visit was crazy packed on the weekend. Which is expected, especially everyone needing to earn quick money. I thought staff handled it great. They were swamped yet still very organized. 1st time I was either too dehydrated or too small of veins so couldn't donate. 2nd time I went during the week. Found out I had rolling veins which I'm glad the technician told me. Sometimes it's hard at drs office to find my veins, usually when I donated blood it was easier. This time around I had to switch arms, it was a success, but towards the end when I was almost done with my plasma donation I started feeling dizzy, seeing blurry and started sweating. Even though this sweet technician was busy with 3-4 of us, she kept being attentive and checking on me. I give her tons of credit being able to multitask like that. It's so not easy what they do. Especially having to see so many patients. Then being prepared if something doesn't go right! I wish I got her name because she deserves all the credit in the world. I was so thankful she kept checking on me! I felt totally taken care of! These technicians are working their butt off and I get people complain about the wait but the amount of patients they get in every 15 minutes is insane! And I hear complaints of the music. Honestly my heart broke for the sweet elderly people I seen needing money with health problems getting rejected. Honestly hate to say it but I think they play it on purpose to keep it younger in there or for energy. Hey whatever helps them flow I'm okay with it!Lol Overall i highly recommend healthy people donating. It's very scary if you're not in the best health and totally not worth a small amount of cash to end up in the hospital. I'm glad they are very strict with who they let donate. I felt like they really monitored and asked a lot of questions. And usually when I give blood I get huge bruises. Both lovely ladies nailed it. This is the absolute WORST plasma donation center I've ever been to. Please do not waste your time going here. Go to ANY other company. I'm a returning customer who has been coming her since 2021. You have to get a physical every 6 months which is normal. What isn't normal is waiting 5 hours to get seen by the nerve for them to tell you that you can't donate because of a tattoo I got IN 2023. Decided to start donating plasma because I'm a rare blood type. The first appointment took about 3 hours. You have to do a physical and paperwork and such. Expect it to take awhile. I usually go on Wednesday and Sunday. It's consistently a 2 hour commitment, but if you're donating on a special, it's worth it. I signed up when it was 2 donations a week for a month, you get $600. I've only been able to donate 3x sadly. The first two donations were smooth. No issues. However, my last one I got a hematoma because when they poked my left arm, the vein rolled. I bruised. I came back and had to be checked by a nurse who said I cannot donate until the bruise is gone because I don't have two good veins and they don't want to cause any more injury which I appreciate. I'm bummed because I feel like this is a thing. Peoples veins are rolling or there is an issue with the donation and then they don't have to pay people out. It's a little misleading. Additionally, in my personal experience, once you get in the chair it's like a 15-20 mins wait to get hooked up. There appears to only be 1-2 people that can draw the plasma so you have to wait. Other than that, the staff have been very nice. The office is very clean. (Sometimes the bathrooms are not) but overall I've had a decent experience. I've never had my veins roll and be bruised before, but apparently that's a thing. read more

Their process is inefficient. I did intake screening with one clerk then told to stand in a line (about 30-45 minutes), only to end up with the same clerk for him to do additional screening. A customer said he had already been there waiting almost 5 hrs. Another person said she was there almost 3 hours. The Asst Mgr seemed nice but a few of the intake clerks seemed bothered when asked a question. I left at the 2 hour mark. Definitely would not recommend. read more

I came across this business from a TV report. I was hesitant to come due to all the negative reviews posted on Yelp but still decided to take a chance. I personally had a few issues because of prescribed medications I am taking, needing my doctor's clearance to donate and then my availability. That had nothing to do with the company itself. I have now been donating for 2 months (twice a week) and have NOT had any problems whatsoever. Of course there are long lines but that should say that they are doing something right instead of being a negative experience. Every time I have been here there are more and more new people coming to donate. The actual technicians doing the plasma work have been very good, careful and pleasant. They at times remember the patient and address them by their names which tells you they have repeat patients. During my time coming maybe once or twice has there been a small problem with someone donating but other than that it runs smoothly even with long waits. I am glad I took a chance on coming and experiencing for myself the donation process. Today is a Sunday and I had never seen 2 long lines at a time. Again that tells you they must be doing something right for having so many people here. Would I recommend this facility? Definitely would. read more

I don't recommend going here. Definitely find another location if you can. The staff is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. The woman at check in seemed crazy, like she needs to be medicated (angry and erratic). I think it's insane she is handling needles and dealing with patients. The location is also understaffed and rescheduled my initial appointment because they were 4 hours behind. If you don't want to spend all day here and be treated by appalling staff, just find another location or plasma service. read more

The wait Is way too long to get hooked up and to get the needle back out. I come from work travel 50 minutes to go donate and the actual donation process is only 30 min. Mixed feeling about this place. They wouldn't allow me to give because of cancer I had 15 years ago. My husband has gone a dozen or so times. They are often understaffed and the wait is very long , so don't go on a day you need to do anything else. They give you a credit card that is very generous at 1st, but goes down a lot. read more

Staff has been great but the compensation incentives were deceptive at best. Told I'd get a $675 "bonus" if I donated X amount of times in X amount of time. Nope. Twice I came in and twice they messed up. First time they didn't put the needle in enough on my right arm and so it didn't pump correctly. They switched to my left arm and poked through my vein causing severe bleeding into my arm which made it bruise. I couldn't come back for 2 weeks because of that. I came back after it healed. The 2nd time I came in they put the needle into my right arm perfectly. Everything was going awesome. They didn't secure it properly with tape so right when I was about finished the tape fell off and the needle slipped out. Blood being pumped back into me shot everywhere. They tried to return the blood in my left but once again their lack of experience messed that up. Once again I'm being punished. I am now being deferred for 8 weeks because it happened twice where I lost blood. None of this was my fault but due to their lack of experience they are now making it impossible to donate. Going to try a different place. This one clearly isn't properly trained. Oh top it all off they make you sit there for 30 mins when they mess up. All this and never any compensation offered. read more

company is unprofessional, even when you Are there on time. You still have to wait a half an hour to be seen. Two employees don't even know the rules so you can be paid while giving blood. I got kicked out of the facility just because they thought my tattoo was new. The facility of the employees discriminated me because I had multiple tattoos. If this company cannot follow the guidelines that they sent to their patients, I wouldn't go here. Find somewhere else to donate blood. Do not go here unless you want to deal with some unprofessional workers that do not care about their patients. I have noticed that the employees do not know up-to-date rules about how the patients can get their blood drawn. Do not go to this location. The staff do not know what they are doing. My son came home with a huge bruise on his arm because they poked all the way thru his vein. My son in law who donates regularly in Southern California is on his way to the ER because they messed up his line and they unable to return his blood to him. He can now not donate for 8 weeks - as a military service member, he needs that extra cash for his son's special daycare. I went and waited hours only to be told I need a dr notice for diabetes- does not say that on their website, and my A1c is under 6 no meds ever...and that was after waiting 2 hrs. I've been coming here for the last year and for the entirety of it, I've had nothing but good experiences. They are much faster than the Marconi location and the staff are (usually) much more efficient. Unfortunately, I can no longer say this after my latest visit where I was told to wait for a nurse regarding a blood sample issue. I waited for over an hour for them to tell me that they couldn't help me today and I couldn't come back for several days and after that I couldn't donate for over a week after that. They handled it very poorly considering I had to drive to the establishment because they never answer the phone. They have people waiting for hours even with an appointment. The whole operation has proven to be totally unorganized and they don't care about people's time or the fact that some rely on the money to feed themselves. When your donation goes good, it's great but when there is an issue, they handle it very poorly. read more

Overall I've had a pretty decent experience here. As other reviews have stated, be prepared to be there for like 4 hours as a new donor. I decided to reschedule my first donation for the next day since I was already starving after waiting to do the physical and vitals. Aside from the new donor visit, be prepared to be there for about 2 hours (however today I was in and out in 1.5). My actual donation usually takes 30-40 mins. Staff has been nice but sometimes just stand around and yap while there are people waiting in line to get vitals taken. I've donated 3 times so far and all 3 times have been uneventful. No issues with getting poked. DRINK WATER!!!! I attribute my successful donations to my hydration. With 3 donations I've made $220. As a new donor if you donate 2x/week for one month, you get $600. Personally I don't want to donate 2x/week so I won't be getting that much. Bring a book and/or earphones so you have something to do. Some of the music they play overhead is questionable (down on me by 50 cent & Jeremiah - interesting choice). read more

First time donor and I'm happy to do it. But my experience here for the first time was all about wait...wait wait...and wait some more! I scheduled my screening and physical two weeks in advance and arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment. Photo ID, SS card...all good...take a fingerprint and a fingerprick, blood pressure, temperature....all good! Now wait. Then take a medical screening questionnaire that takes about 20 minutes. Fine. But two questions were really baffling. One asked about the early symptoms of HIV. How would I know? I've never had HIV nor have ever known anyone with it. Next bizarre question; Have you or anyone in your family history had Cruztfedt - Jakobs disease? I don't even know what that is! Wait and wait some more. Now I have been waiting for 2 1/2 hours and still haven't had my "brief physical" as stated on their website! I understand they want to be thorough and that's great! The facility is exceptionally clean and the staff is very friendly. But I spent over 3 hours there and had to reschedule to make my first donation! Earlier this week I had to renew my driver's license at DMV....without an appointment! I even had to get my photo taken AND a written test! I was out of DMV with my license in just over an hour. But it took three times as long at BioLife and still didn't make a donation?!?! Come on people! I encourage people to donate and maybe it was just an off day at BioLife. But be prepared to set aside half a day for your first visit. read more

BioLife needs to do better . Why advertise that "it's your hour " when you know it has not taken an hour here this year or last year and gets worse every time . It's easily 2-3.5 hours to donate as a regular . Not even a new donor . Consistently they keep having short staff or problems with employees calling in sick . There's always a story why they are backed up . I've donated 12 times easily in the last two months and not one time have I been out of there in less than 2 hours . Either pay your staff more so they want to come to work , or hire more so the lines can shorten . But no, They keep stacking more and more appointments to fulfill their quota . This is getting ridiculous . Makes you want to stop donating altogether ! The people that work here are nice . They need to be paid more for how hard they work . They need to be taken care of because how can quality be good when you're constantly moving with lines out the door all day long ? BioLife - why don't you care about customer service ? Hire more people so your current staff isn't so burdened , or stop stacking in more people on the schedule to meet your quotas bc the type of service and experience is horrendous here because of you !
