I've always had really great experiences here. It is clean, organized, and the staff is friendly. This is such a great and easy way to make some extra money while also helping people. The location is right off of Alpine behind Target and has easy parking. There is also a bus stop right there. When you go for your first time, plan on spending up to three hours there but after that, it is usually around an hour from arrival til leaving. You can go twice a week. They have an app that makes it very easy to schedule appointments and to see your earnings pile up! read more

TL;DR version is they're really slow and inefficient. The Walker location never seems to staff the front enough. You could be the only person standing in line and still have a 10+ minute wait because they only have one or maybe if you're lucky two people working up front. Once you get past the seemingly unmotivated front workers where you now have to get your own card because they're too lazy to walk a few feet back to grab a card for you, you get to sit in the donation chair for another 10+ minutes because they either don't staff enough people there either or the workers are dragging their feet with no sense of urgency. I normally donate in Kentwood but I moved to Muskegon so I thought going here would save me 20 minutes of driving every time I donated but not at all. I spend at least that amount of time waiting because they're slow. read more

I've always had great and positive experiences at the Walker location. Today I asked to speak with a manager about my debit card. I'm not going to name the person I spoke to, but she got me a new card, didn't ask what was going on with my old card, or even bother to look at just entered the info on the computer after I scanned in. She didn't even bother to tell me that I would be charged for the new card after activation. I looked at my balance right away to make sure it was on my card, and needless to say, I was charged for the new card, so I went to ask to speak to her once more and told her why I was charged for the card. She stated that everyone is charged for a card replacement regardless of the reason. She then says that unless your card is expiring, you will get a new one in the mail. I looked at my card, and what do I see? My card expires 03/26, I show her the expiration date and ask for a refund, and she looks at me and says sorry I can't do that since it was already charged! Like seriously, most people who come in to donate are counting on what they will be receiving from the donation for bills/gas. If she would have just taken some time and asked to look at my card or even tell me that I will be charged for a new card, I would have asked for an alternative or maybe have waited for the new one since my card cannot be read when swiping to pay becuase the black strip in peeled off, I even showed it to her when I went back in. Honestly, to me I feel like it was too much of a bother for her to at least look at my card or even giving me a heads up that I would be charged for this card would have been nice. I understand you all work long hours and are all human and make mistakes or forget to mention something, but don't try to blame the other guys for not informing me that there would be a charge for a new one. You, as the manager should have taken that responsibility. read more

My regular center didn't have any appointments open for the dates I needed to get the bonus, so I made an appointment at the Walker center recently. I arrived right before my appointment time and answered the questions, then stood in line to get my vitals taken. I do agree it's weird that they require you to make an appointment when you may not even get started donating until up to an hour after you arrive. Just keep that in mind for scheduling. This center was super busy and when I left, there was a line wrapping around the room of people waiting for their vitals. I think there were only 2-3 employees working on intake during my visit. I didn't know that at this center, you have to take your own colored tag and then you can seat yourself at an open spot in that section. I thought someone would come and get me, but another donor told me to grab a seat in the red section. The phlebotomist came over and got me set up, but was having difficulty with the vein in my left arm. I didn't really want to have the tubes running across my body but they asked if we could use my right arm instead. That worked much better, but I didn't love having to get poked twice. The phlebotomist was super friendly, outgoing, and really funny, so that helped. I told him that I'd had some difficulties with my first two donations, so he calibrated my donate/return rate, and it went smoothly. I'll be sure to ask for those numbers at future appointments. Overall this was a good experience, and all the employees I encountered were very professional, polite, and kind. read more

I don't have anything majorly negative to say about Walker Biolife except if you schedule a donation, you had better have AT LEAST 2 hours to part with once you are there. This is a minimum. Occasionally you can be out in less than 2 hours, usally about 2, sometimes 2:15-2:30. So, if your time is worth much to you, it is a very poor return with what they pay after their intro deal to get you in the door. read more

My son donated at the Warren Location The nurse was new and not properly trained. He told her she was hurting him and she used the other arm. Didn't get help. I had to take him to the ER and they thought he had a blood clot from the damag. It was like this and painful for 2 weeks. read more

Coincidental it was the same tech that had come over and told me to get off my phone that I was already putting down to take my survey. She gave me no real solution so I walked out with nothing (which is pretty normal for how this place is run). I was very cautious about donating because of the needle poking part of the experience. Out of the eight times I went only one time did I have a bad experience with that. However the reasoning behind why I can't donate for eight weeks seems like it could have been prevented. One donation time my machine wasn't working and not the nurses or the Phlebotomist told me the risk of donating again too soon with the blood loss I experienced. Then a phlebotomist mistake where my return was too high ended my donation early. Lack of communication and education that was given to me now in a time where we all need extra money I can't get any for eight weeks. Also I don't appreciate the nurse trying to put the error on me and portent this to be my own fault. read more

I've been donating plasma lately and this place sure is a well oiled machine. They move hundreds of people through each day is a very effective and efficient manner. No matter how busy they are, the staff is always friendly the facility is clean and convenient. I recommend not going on Sundays as it seems to be the most busy. I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately I wasted hours of my time making 2 separate trips there, days apart, only to get "rejected" for various arbitrary suspicious reasons. The first time I went there 2-24-19 they said my plasma appearence was too cloudy, even though I had made sure NOT to eat any fatty foods that day. So I showed up 4 days later after having practically fasted for the previous 24 hours (only ate cereal, vegetables, fruit, protein shakes, etc) and on THIS visit 2-27-19 they claimed my pulse was too high! (103 BPM vs. it should be under 100 they said). I will say, despite my (deserved) 1-start review, that the personnel were polite, understanding, and seemed apologetic, candid, and friendly. All except for the last wooden "nurse" (?) who I saw at the very end of my visit today - can't remember her name, but she had short dark hair, and delivered her phony excuses as if they were lines in a play that she was reading off a teleprompter. No sympathy, no human emotion, no apology for my 2 hours of time wasted. She tried to give me tips on what to do for my "next visit" and I sternly told her there WOULD be no third visit! If BioLife can't get their sht together in 2 visits, then it's probably never gonna happen with me. Some people obviously seem to have better luck there, but for the rest of us folks who get wonky read-outs on their glitchy equipment, may god help us all! NEVER AGAIN!!! Not only will I never visit another BioLife site, but this entire wretched time-wasting experience has turned me off to donating ANY blood or plasma in general, for any other purpose or charity. Just a long giant headache that I don't need. They need better equipment and more importantly staff who are actually medically-trained professionals who can explain to rejected clients exactly why they weren't able to donate that day. The "explanation" I got was pitifully underwhelming and an insult to my time as a busy professional. Never again! read more

One of the most dis functional businesses I have ever stepped foot into. There are very few friendly techs, their requirements are a pain in the ass and systems are faulty/always down. If you call good luck speaking to someone who knows what they're doing. You have to book your appointments weeks in advance and heaven forbid if something goes wrong they say "you'll have to reschedule, you can come in tomorrow" when they well know there are no openings for tomorrow; nor the rest of the week, unless you want to spend your day sitting in the parking lot possibly waiting for a last minute cancellation, only to then have to reschedule all of your future appointments too to meet their requirements. They move like zombies so be prepared to sit for an hour before you even get put in a chair, then another 15+ minutes before you get hooked up and poked, and usually another 5-10 minutes to get unhooked and out the door. Unfortunately they know they can be this way and you will return because you need the money. Beyond frustrating. read more

I have been a plasma donor at biolife in Cascade since 2016. There have been months at a time where I stopped donating due to my work hours or letting the nerves in my arms heal after repeated agitation from the needles but I always return sooner or later. I know someone who's daughter uses medication derived from human plasma & I realize how important & life saving it really is for those people. This last time It had been a year since I last donated. I did my physical & everything checked out, so I donated that same day & all was well. I had a really great interaction with the nurse (I forgot her name since I had a short interaction with her, but she was a very kind hispanic woman) that I feel was worth highlighting. & throughout the years I have had many good interactions with the staff, most have been very professional & pleasant. The staff for the most part is great. My complaint with the company has much more to do with their "system" & their rigid adherence to this system that clearly is riddled with errors. This last time I made an appointment, I was doing the pre screening & they attendant stopped & called a manager. They then informed me that I have been discharged for a week because my information had been used in attempt to donate at another facility. I was confused & thought it was a mistake that could be easily ironed out. I had never donated plasma (or anything else for that matter) at any other facility besides the cascade biolife location in my entire life. & I only had one single needle mark on my arm from the last time I was there & had a physical that same day. No amount of physical proof or discourse could persuade them to let me donate, let alone lift the week long punishment period for something I did not even do. Their system was wrong, & I was being punished for it. This was not the first time over the years that their rigid & inaccurate system has caused me major inconvenience & headache, but it is the most recent & prompted me to finally write a negative review of the business. If this was a one time issue, or even twice I could let it go as no system is perfect. But at this point the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives. Not only was I upset that I was being punished for something I didn't do, but they could not give me any further information as to what facility I allegedly tried to donate at, as I wanted to contact them & try to figure out how my information landed in their system. It is alarming to me that another facility has my information because like I said I had never donated anywhere other than the cascade biolife location. This could be an issue with stolen identity! But they would give me minimal details & basically herded me out the door, a long term loyal customer of their business. I was really unhappy with how it was handled, & therefor, I am giving them a low score while at the same time worrying about how my information is being used by the company. read more

I generally view plasma donation as a triple win situation. The donors get some compensation for their time (officially) and discomort (unofficially), the company makes a profit, and people in need get the necessary plasma products. But the overscheduling and over donating that occurs make it mostly about the company and their profit. They have increased the volume donated by focusing on body wt despite the fact that fat has little to no blood volume. I now donate about 1/3 more than original but I have no more plasma in me at 50# overwt as at my ideal wt. They are chronically short staffed and currently have part of the building under construction. And they apologize and tell you these are the reasons for long waits but continue to overschedule. What used to take 1 to 1.5hrs now takes 2 to 2.5hrs. I recommend donating intermittently for your health, and since they intermittently run specials that help make up for so much extra time. The up side is the staff. They are very friendly, competent and bust their butts! read more

I've only been donating for a month. So far, I've found this Bio-life to be efficient, and structured. There are a mix of personalities of those who serve donors. I've come to like a number of them, and feel okay with requesting them to be my "poker". I've learned what my donate/return rate works best for me, so that's what I request each time I go in to make my experience more pleasurable. I have been in and out within 1 hour, regularly, so that's pretty awesome! The only time it took longer was because the center was closed the day before -Holiday or something I forget. I donated at the Lake Michigan Drive location for about a year back in 2007-2008. Back then it took about a month or so for me to be approved as a donor due to my medications. I decided to start donating again for some extra spending money. I had a piercing about five months ago, and I know the minimum wait time is six months. I wanted to get some lead time so I called in to schedule *just* a physical since I saw online I could only schedule a donation. I was told to schedule a donation and I'd get a physical. Today I came in and was asked the last time I ate. I knew I couldn't donate so I said so and was advised that to get a physical I had to donate as well. I also didn't have time to donate. I just wanted to be proactive, and instead my time was wasted. Not a good way to instill confidence in a potential donor. I won't be bothering! read more

The staff here had a difficult time transferring my files from the Broadmoor location so I wasn't too pleased about not being able to donate for the three weeks it took everyone to get on board. Other than that, the majority of workers I've run into are nice..not necessarily "polite", but friendly. I really appreciate this biolife location. The staff is very helpful with any questions that I have. I haven't ever had an unfriendly or unhelpful person when I've called in. The techs are very friendly and some more than others, but no one has ever been unpleasant. They do their job well and try to make it as pleasant of an experience as possible. Dear bio life....12-02-2015 I'm a long time donor with over 1000 donations...... Thank You..... So with that being said I've almost seen it all at my donation center, from pure chaos to a some what professional experience. On my visit today 12-02-15 I was shocked to see Bio life went way backwards instead of forward in making donating a more enjoyable experience. As donors, we want to walk in, be processed, then sent out to the floor where someone is waiting for us, then telling us what section we will be seated in for our donation. We then go to our section to find someone greeting us, then getting us hooked up to donate. It's very stress free, this is the way my Bio life had it setup. Today I'm at my bio life center, I'm processed then herded to a section, then I'm told sorry its full you need to go to a different section which I'm then herded to with 5 others. We are then greeted by someone asking the six of us, who's first???? With six donors saying I am !!!! So my question is, how can you go from an almost perfect setup to one that is not stress free an so CHAOTIC !!!
