Good place, but occasionally short of staff. Certain times of the day require a longer stay time....Patience is a virtue!

I booked the class via phone, the CSR was really helpful and efficient in booking the class and providing the information about the course. After paying and confirming my info she said I would get a receipt email and another with access info into the account since there is the online class portion that must be completed before going in person for the second half. I did get the receipt but not the account info, I reached out to their online CSR, they sent a reset password email to help access the account. The online class is pretty informative and can take anywhere from 3-4 hours to complete. There are seven modules in total. For the in person class, it is recommended that you show up 15 minutes before to check in and bring the email or print the proof of your online completed class. The instructor was very helpful and taught efficiently to help deepen one's knowledge and put into practice what one has learned from the online portion. The class was 2.15 hours and went by quickly. Highly would recommend whether it is for work purposes or in general for being prepared for emergencies. Also it's fun to do it with a family member or friend so you can be partners :)

I arrived right before my appointment time and answered the questions, then stood in line to get my vitals taken. I do agree it's weird that they require you to make an appointment when you may not even get started donating until up to an hour after you arrive. Just keep that in mind for scheduling. This center was super busy and when I left, there was a line wrapping around the room of people waiting for their vitals. I think there were only 2-3 employees working on intake during my visit. I didn't know that at this center, you have to take your own colored tag and then you can seat yourself at an open spot in that section. I thought someone would come and get me, but another donor told me to grab a seat in the red section. The phlebotomist came over and got me set up, but was having difficulty with the vein in my left arm. I didn't really want to have the tubes running across my body but they asked if we could use my right arm instead. That worked much better, but I didn't love having to get poked twice. The phlebotomist was super friendly, outgoing, and really funny, so that helped. I told him that I'd had some difficulties with my first two donations, so he calibrated my donate/return rate, and it went smoothly. I'll be sure to ask for those numbers at future appointments. Overall this was a good experience, and all the employees I encountered were very professional, polite, and kind.

I'm…read moreexcited to share about BioLife, a plasma donation center where your donation can help save lives. A friend of mine has been donating plasma for awhile and let me know BioLife was doing a bonus in October - $950 if you do 8 donations in 30 days. Unfortunately I wasn't able to sign up in time, but the same bonus is still happening in November. Payment comes on a prepaid Mastercard "debit" card. You can use this card like most debit cards, or you can withdraw cash at participating ATMs or deposit the money into your bank account. You can register for an account online and sign up for an appointment. Your first appointment is long because they register you, screen you for donation, have you answer a really long questionnaire, then review the questions and get a physical exam. I ended up being there for 2+ hours on my first visit. The screening process is pretty easy, you can't be visibly ill (or actually sick), they prick your finger to test your blood for protein and iron levels, they weigh you to see how much plasma you can donate, and they take your temperature and blood pressure. You have to have at least two "good" veins in order to donate. I'd never donated plasma before but it was a pretty easy process. The needle they use is pretty big, but as someone who doesn't really like needles, it wasn't too bad. I thought I might be able to get some work done while I was there, but you really can't do much because you have to keep your arm still and straight, and you have to squeeze your hand or a stress ball on and off throughout the whole procedure. They have wifi so you can scroll your phone or watch shows etc. All the employees I encountered at this facility were very professional and kind. It's cool to be able to help others in this way, as well as make some extra cash.

Some of the "sticks" hurt; some you barely feel. That being said, I encourage people to donate plasma. As someone who has Rh Negative blood, I am one who has benefited from donated plasma. They also stuck a needle in without giving me warning and proceeded to fish around for my vein while the needle was in my skin. They then took the needle out and my arm started to bleed severely. They tried again on my other arm and did the EXACT SAME THING. They then proceeded to accuse me of having a blood clot when I had recently been checked out by my doctor and was absolutely fine! No, maybe it wouldn't work because you're unprofessional and untrained! When I wanted to stop they tried to convince me to try again after telling them to take it out because it HURT and the lady walked away to do paperwork. I said get it out of my arm. Their policy states very clearly that you can stop at any time. Clearly that is not the case! I will never be back and unless you want a bruised arm, I wouldn't suggest trusting this establishment. If I could put no stars I definitely would!
