I've been a donor here until My wife and I who are both disabled had our civil rights violated by Annabelle Sanchez operational manager telling us that we are not allowed to help each other in the handicap bathroom and doing it loudly in front of staff and patrons that if we can't wipe our own ass then maybe we are too disabled to donate plasma and within 30 minutes of leaving the facility I was cancelled by the center Manager Dave that I was permanently banned from donating there ever again because of my saying something to her about violating our rights to use the bathroom and when asked about his employee violations of our rights we were told that she hadn't violated our civil rights by telling us and continuing to tell us that we were not allowed to assist the other in the restroom and those are the signs on the bathroom door read more

Your lab techs were the first folks to notice I had Type 1 diabetes, and sent me away without leeching my blood or giving me money because I had high blood sugars. Of course, I was a cracked-out teenager then without health insurance so I ignored the fact that I had a life threatening disease until later when I nearly died. But between my trip to your facility and my trip to that last doctor who said "Hey, you have Type 1 Diabetes!" there were years of other insundry doctors at Free clinics, ERs, and Student Health offices all over midwest saying "I don't know what's wrong with you. Are you bulimic? Is that why you throw up all the time. Are you depressed? Maybe you need to be on the pill. Try drinking more water and change shampoos if your hair is falling out. Maybe gain some weight. You're too skinny. Why do you keep throwing up? If your teeth are rotting and your skin is so dry try brushing and using a moisturizer. You're peeing a lot because you drank a lot of water. You're drinking a lot of water because you're peeing a lot. Stop peeing so much. Drink less coffee." I wish I'd listened to you right from the start. O well. I'm ok with my life-long medical condition now. This is the nicest plasma center I've been to. The staff are great, with the exception of one that always sticks too deep. The majority stick very shallow which is much more comfortable for me. I am always in and out quickly and I love being able to schedule appointments online. I was asked to remove all photos, sorry. But the facility is very clean and they have a dress code for donors, which is nice. They now play TV most the time but used to play movies. Wish they would bring movies back. read more

Need a place to kill 4 hours waiting for $30? This is the place. You'll also be bored to death by the pathetic long line to get to donate, and get to watch in amazement as there seems to be plenty of managers walking around the building, but never helping to make the situation either upstairs or downstairs better. Either this place needs to get a bigger location, or hire more people to help, because the wait has become absolutely unacceptable. I realize there is tons of people who donate there on a regular basis, but for the past few months, this place has just been a nightmare. I am now going to start donating at the other plasma location in Coralville, and I can gaurantee that this problem will just continue. read more

This place is trash. They almost killed my boyfriend through crappy lab techs not inserting his IV correctly and causing him to lose a dangerous amount of blood, they didn't even apologize. On top of that, they broke (or lost, even hes not sure) two blood tests he needs to be able to donate. Sloppy techs, crappy parking, and don't seem to care about how their mistakes effect people. read more

Iowa City facility ISN'T very good. Seems or appears most of the employees are standing around in corner socializing about what they are going to do for the week-end. Has appt at 11:45 booking ending at 12:00 noon. Arrived at 11:40, did intake process, still at 12:30pm still hadn't been called yet. NOT very many people there at the time either, maybe 10-15 at the MOST. ONLY time left waiting area, was to go to restroom, unless they (bio) called my name at that time, my name was never called. Maybe they should call out people names couple times in case they are in the restroom and don't hear thier names called the first time. Went to front desk, where observed 4-5 people all standing there talking, socializing, over behind front counter area, and even overheard one of them saying " yeah, gotta leave at so and so time to make it to Ames Ia, for interstate rivalery with Ia State", and asking if other people were going or what their plans were. Shouldn't they be getting people in for their appt, if they are scheduled for a certain time. This would probably, boost productivity, get more people through in a shorter amount of time, keeping people happy instead of sitting for any amount of time getting frusturated and leaving. VERY unpleasent experience, may just transfer to another facility out in Coralville Ia. Sure they are much more effecient, in their practices. read more
