Yooooo! First: Book online and FILL OUT THE ONLINE WAVERS before entering the park. If you forget to fill out the wavers, as you enter the amusement park parking lot, on poles are QR codes that take you right to the online wavers. Don't be THAT person. Do what you are supposed to do. This place is about the size of the parking lot. It's perfect! To all those folks who can't go on rollercoasters and get made fun of because of some sort of anxiety, this is your place! Only one fast body water slide that I did not go on. That being said, there are 7 slides. 2 of the 7 are inner tube slides. The rest are body slides. There's also a pool, small hot tub, shop and place where you can buy food (don't bring your cooler or any outside food). Drinks are free all day! Male and Female changing and bathrooms are easily accessible. In-between those areas are the small, medium and large lockers if you need them. Find yourself an Adirondack chair and have a great time at this little gem of an amusement park. As we were there, they were putting up their 40th Anniversary signs. Happy Anniversary! Long wait times and bees! We visited this past summer and had an OK but not great experience. I don't know why but they were having people line up at the bottom of the big slides and allowing people to walk up and to the slide deck in very slow fashion. I don't know what the reasoning was but they could've sped it up significantly and it would not have been unsafe. Compared to other water parks we have visited, the wait times for slides were incredibly long. We went on a weekday and it didn't take me long to realize the long wait were not because it was super crowded but because of the way they were handling things. A good example would be that the waterpark in Lake Chelan has a stoplight system on their slides. So instead of having one lifeguard monitoring several slides and telling people when they could go, people know they can go when the light turns green. Very simple and effective. Birch bay either needs to install these or have a lifeguard for each of the big slides. In our experience, the lifeguards at the top of the slides were really not interested in telling you when you could go and were just sort of doing it at their leisure. It slowed things down a lot. The other thing that was not fantastic is that they have a massive bee problem. They seem to have beehives all around the park as it felt like you were constantly trying to dodge bees and avoid getting stung. They need to do something about this! read more

Admission was $36. We rented a cabana for $75 just to be assured some shade. They don't allow outside food and drink but they also didn't check our bags. The cabana was nice, it's a pop tent with curtains, a cushioned patio couch, table and water provided. The facility is dated and dilapidated. I was hoping it would be nicer since they closed for an extended period of time after a slide came apart and someone got badly injured. They removed the slide and another slide was out of service. They claim to have 8 slides but with the one removed and the one out of service that comes to 6. While we were waiting for one of the slides the one next to it that was closed turned on (no one seemed to know why) and spat nasty brown water and leaves into the pool at the bottom of the slide we were waiting for. The bathrooms are a disaster. Two changing rooms in the women's room for nearly 1,000 people on a busy day. There are two showers and one had a clogged drain with standing water. There isn't a hook to be had in the changing area for your bags or towels. People change in the toilet stalls which makes for a long slow moving line at the end of the day. Lines in general are long. It's not nice, it's not cheap and it should be one or the other. read more

First time and probably the last time at this park! We were gonna go to Wild Waves but wanted to try something new. Run down and needs love, paint is chipping, wood is rotten, dirty bathrooms, wobbly wooden stair cases, slides also wobble a bit when you go down. Doesn't feel safe and it isn't appealing to the eye in any way. If they at least repainted the buildings and walls it would look a lot nicer and maintenances the stairs, bathrooms, and Waterslides. The only good thing is the lines aren't too bad, we were there 10am-2:30pm on a Sunday. Didn't wait longer than 10-15minutes per slide. $18 per adult with group discount There are 4 individual slides, a single or duo inner tube slide, a smaller ramp slide, a kiddie pool, an activity pool, and the black hole. BB Waterslides has become a Whatcom County institution, and though it hasn't really changed much over the years it's a reliable destination for a day of fun in the sun with the kids. You can bring your own food now, too, which is a HUGE improvement over the days when they forced you to buy their (not-that-great) food. If you get there early, there's a wide variety of places to sit - from umbrella'd patio tables by the hot tub to adirondack chairs to loungers to covered areas (which you can reserve/rent for the day for just $25). They also have areas for larger groups, and if you have a big organization you can rent out the entire place for an evening of fun and teambuilding! (Hint hint to my employer: wouldn't this be fun?!) Pricing-wise I find it a little steep ($20/person), which can be a lot if you are bringing several kids. They do have a group rate if you have 10 people or more! read more

Pros: Free parking Lots of chairs Slides for little kids You can bring your own food in Cons: The intertubes- they only had about 12 for each slide so you had to wait for a long time for your turn just for the tube. And MOST WERE IN EXTREME NEED OF AIR! It was pathetic. How do you not refill air into intertubes before a busy day. Or buy new ones if these are getting little holes The Lifeguards!! -Almost every lifeguard looked like they wanted to fall asleep or simply not be there. I recorded one lifeguard walking back and forth, back and forth, around the kiddy pool almost NEVER looking at the actual pool. He just looked up and down at the ground and outside the park. I couldnt believe it!! The next person leaned against the gate for most of her time at the pool. How can you see a drowning child if you are not up next to the edge of the pool!! Thank goodness I was watching my kids because those people they are paying are day dreaming. Plus I never heard or saw a whistle on ANY lifeguard. The life guard by the black sides sits on their butt and waves a dirty looking wash cloth in the air to signal the next slider. Get off your butt and stand next to the slides!! And get them a freaking flag! I honestly wouldn't be surprised if these lifeguards were not actually trained in any way... And that they were paid minimum wage. Because that's how they work. The owners of this water park must be super greedy because the place looks disgustingly dirty and old. Like they don't care about maintenance or something as simple as watering grass. The black hole- actually shook back and forth when someone went down it and water squirted out between tube segments! That's terrifying to me. Dirty bathrooms- they looked fine when we arrived but nobody maintened them all day so they became littered with toilet paper The pools all looked like they were in dire need of maintenance. Most slides don't go very fast. Thankfully my kids had a decent time. They weren't aware that a lifeguard probably couldnt help them if they were in need. Maybe I was spoiled with the waterparks of New England, but this place flat out sucks. There's 6 adult Waterslides (the two fun looking ones are down) and pool is exceedingly small for the amount of people present. Off the beaten path it took us almost 2 hours to get here, we've been here for a half an hour and are about to cut our losses and leave. The ticket line takes forever to get through as they have one window and everyone has a million questions. The facility is run down and was what seems like a good time maybe a decade ago. The paint is worn and the buildings could use a good power washing. Seating is terrible, there's hardly any cover for us pasty folks. There's a snack bar, but we brought our own food (luckily they allow that). Other than the massive amount of cons, the staff is really friendly and seem to be enjoying themselves. My 6- and 7-year-old children had a blast, and that is what matters most. We had no problems with staff, plenty of room to "park" our stuff, and outside food was allowed into the park. The park is compact, the lines for the slides weren't too long, and the "thrill" level was great for my kids' age. I like the rural setting and ease of getting here from Snohomish County. The place can be described as a bit "old school" with few updates over the years. Paint is chipping on the stairways, but really, that's no big deal. What an oldie but goodie! Yes, the place is dated, but guaranteed to still have a great day with family/friends. We had a group of 19 and everyone had a blast. We reserved a covered area and so thankful we did, the place gets pretty busy on a hot WA day. Lines were manageable and organized. Staff was nice from my experience with my group reservation, ticket counter, entrance, lifeguards, concessions and gift shop. We definitely started a new annual FRAMILY tradition. I would recommend wearing watershoes/crocs at all times due to the hot concrete and to keep bottom of your feet clean. We brougth our own food (ordered Domino's pizza for delivery) but we did enjoy a burger, fries and their ICE CREAM is delish, such a tasty treat after spending all day at the water park. One thing we did notice are the bees, and lots of them. Made it challenging to enjoy meal at our table from dodging and ducking them but if there is a way to safely reduce the amount of bees, that would be awesome not sure how they could prevent the swarms but some bee maintenance/care would be nice. They only had 3 employees running the food stand, and it wasn't nearly enough for the number of people ordering food. Almost exactly how I remember this place 30 years ago! Took my family to one of my childhood favorite destinations, and spent the day having a great time at the waterslides! The weather was perfect, the lines weren't too long, the park is smaller than other state-water parks, and the population of folks was much better than other local water parks. We bought our tickets via Groupon on line, so we were able to by-pass the long line at the entrance to get into the park. We arrived at opening, so we were able to secure the reclining lounge chairs, which are to the right of the entrance next to the kiddie-pool. New slides have been added in 30 years, such as the scariest slide where there's a 6-story fall that my son labeled "the Black Death slide" (it has a different name, but we liked his version better!) and another black slide for single tubes where it's enclosed and pitch-dark for the entire ride. (I tried that: it was fun!) Now that I'm an adult with other (local) water parks to compare, I give it 4-stars for the following reasons: Groupon experience was perfect on my end at home, great for the short line, but Birch Bay Waterslides FORGOT to include taxes into the purchase so you're expected to pay CASH upon entry? Are you kidding me?? Horrible. Thumbs down on that! Take the loss, and let the experience be good for the customer. The staffing for this place is AWESOME. Very kind folks, hard-workers, and kudos for the hiring team to find great people who are customer service minded! Love that you can bring in your own food and unopened water bottles! It costs $17 inside the park to buy an otherwise $6 pizza! I didn't see heathy items on their menu, and there isn't a beer-garden like the other waterparks, so the experience is a clean one. I was a little nervous about the safety as they don't have an electronic signal system for staff to see when the next person to slide can go and I'd read reviews saying this is a concern...only once did my daughter slide and another kid ran into her, so it is a concern. What their staff does is look from the top of the slide to make sure the slider at the bottom has exited, it's up to human-error, and that's kind of nerve-wracking. Like I mentioned earlier, they seemed to hire great people! What the company could do is pay for an electronic system, and the lines would go faster and patrons would feel safer. Just a thought...other Yelp reviews spoke about sore backs, etc. I haven't a clue what that is about as the body rides are very old fashioned, same 4 rides I rode on 30 years ago. They are slower if you're weight is lower, my daughter had to push herself a few times mid-ride, which was lame, and I sat up so I didn't feel any jarring injury. It was fun! I personally prefer tubes over body slides, and the tubes were great. It's a smaller park so you need to adjust your expectations as there's only 3 tube slides and one is only for single tubes. There's double and single tube options only. The view and setting is FANTASTIC! You can see the water and there's tons of grassy area. There's several shaded picnic areas, a place to play basketball, and a sandy volleyball area. Perfect for families! I wish they offered educational fact-posters on the railing, so you can learn about the area or history of the park as you're waiting in line it's nice to read while waiting for your turn to slide. The gift shop needs updating! I wanted to buy some t-shirts or sweatshirts, but the designs and sizes were out-of-touch for us. The logo prints reminded me of something a toddler would wear and I'm not looking for XXL sizes! The Medium size was at least a Large and they didn't offer variety of sizes and there was only 2 different prints to choose from that were too embarrassing to wear. I'd like to see the gift shop include beach towels, t-shirts, sweatshirts in youth and adult sizes, basic items families may have forgotten to pack like hats or sunscreen. The showers and changing room is pathetic. I don't think this has been updated in 30 years! The small trickle of water was ridiculous of a shower, and there's no curtain! But it was free, and I make my kids shower after any pool, but the experience was awful. They need to put in swim-suit extractors, add as many changing rooms as toilets, and have staff clean the bathrooms in order to encourage patrons to not pee in their pools! The women's toilet stalls were used for changing, so toilet lines were long, and the floor was always wet. Super gross. It was a step up from an outhouse, as the toilets flushed, but was not a good experience!! As the day went by I noticed my body smelled like pee after a Waterslide ride! Gross, gross, gross! ."When my husband and I, both senior citizens, came up to the booth to purchase our tickets. We were charged $17.50 each, even though the board next to the ticket booth said $15. I had already looked at their website, and it stated that a senior slider ticket was $15. Their actual quote states the following, "to be fair to our guests, prices have remained the same as the 2019 season." This in answer to a question about the 2021 prices. When we questioned the difference, we were told by the employee that our card had already been charged. We still were upset, so she asked another employee to help us. She said she would honor the $15 price, but after we sat down in the park I looked at my receipt again, and she had charged me $17. This is a totally bad business practice. I have contacted them and requested to speak to a manager to have them resolve this issue. I will also say, that as seniors, we love to use the hot tub, but even their statement to follow state quidelines of no one under 7 being allowed into it, there were at least 20 under 7 in the tub when we tried to use it. The employees weren't doing anything to keep the rule in place. With ,loads of other places for the young children to play in, and since it was over 80 degrees today, we couldn't understand why management didn't enforce this rule so adults could have a place to enjoy the park too. read more

I went to Birch bay today July 28th 2017 we went for my sons 13th birthday. I drove 2 hours to be there early to them telling me they didn't think they were going to open today due to weather which means no customers and minimum wage went up. 10am rolls around their opening time. At that time they started sending their employees out of the gate to their cars. They didn't open I looked on all their site no where did it say they were going to close or that it was a possibility. Be forewarned! The employees who are supposed to be watching that each person has exited the water shoot do not do that. They are careless and cause accidents that hurt people. On Memorial Day weekend my daughter and son-in-law took two of their children to the waterslides because they were begging to go. There is a big long, black shoot and the employee who is seated at the top is not supposed to allow anyone to go down it until the previous person has exited. That did not happen. Each of these next three people were told they could go down. A boy went in & got stuck. My 6 yr old granddaughter went down and ran into the boy. Then her Dad was told to go down and he ran into his daughter--knocked out one of her upper front teeth and was a bloody, frightened mess. Later that day, relaying the incident to a neighbor at Birch Bay, she told me that her teenage daughter had also been injured in there--someone was allowed to come through before she got out and she was hurt. I want you to know that I never written a bad review, but this is a safety issue that this company needs to correct--and you should know before going. I went a week ago with my 5 year old and we had a good day - lots of fun. Pros: There's a pretty decent selection of water slides for being in a semi-rural area. The prices are reasonable, both entry and concessions. It was mostly clean and nice. They aren't super rigid about rules for slides - on some of them you can spin around etc. It's a nice way to take a break from a camping trip at the nearby state park. Cons: Per the other reviewers, the lifeguards are super lax - there is a happy medium to be had between rigid enforcement of 100 rules and not noticing/caring what happens, and these guys tend to the latter. I basically took responsibility for my own kid so it wasn't much an issue for me, but I see what the other reviewers are saying. I'm super-surprised to see this in our very litigious society. Sadly, when we made it to the waterslides, the weather wasn't great. Windy, cloudy - typical Washington. The location is great, located in the north side of Birch Bay and really easy to find if you exit with exit 270. The place itself is pretty big and has enough space for everybody. Slides weren't as fun for me as from what I remember when I was a kid, but it definitely seemed like a fun thing to do for a family. I felt like a few slides I took were a little dangerous; - I hit my back pretty good and yet my head, but that wasn't too bad. Probably because it was my fault of not positioning myself well enough? Prices are decent. For 1 entree you pay $13 or $50 for a group of 4. I visited this place once and it was for my birthday last year. I would describe this place as a nice a alternative to wild waves. Don't expect all kind of water rides, etc. this place focuses on slides. Hence the name. Its all not a huge waterpark by any means but its clean, reasonably priced, family fun. I have been meaning to get on here for months to write this review and finally remembered to do it. My family and I have been coming off and on to Birch Bay Waterslides for years. It's been a fun and safe place for a long time. Okay, so not the modern "theme park" type vibe, but great music playing, sunshine, smiling people and kids who obviously love the place. We just like to relax, go down a few slides and enjoy the day. No comparing to Wild Waves, because it's not meant to be a place like that. It's an older town, older place, but that is still very adequate, the slides are being improved every year we've come, and they are still open, where many close their doors because of competition. Go with the idea to have fun and not expect a place that "blows your doors off", and you will have a smile on your face (like the kids do) all day. I must say I wasn't a huge fan of the Birch Bay Waterslides. Pretty much all of their slides require you go down in an inner-tube type device. They're fast, but fairly unstable. My wife got a huge goose-egg on her head from flipping out of the inner-tube. Plus there are huge line ups at the bottom of the run because they don't have enough inner-tubes. As a local, I have years of fond memories of Birch Bay waterslides. It's changed ownership a few times over the 20+ years its been here, but the main attractions have remained the same. It's nostalgia for me. It's summers with my friends and my parents. It's Birch Bay. We went on Fathers day. The pizza restaurant (independent of the slides) was not open [[the sign said July, for those interested. I had left a previous yelp review for this business, and I did not enjoy it- however, it's been closed and renovated, so I will give it a try again once it re-opens.]], so, we skipped a "full lunch" and just grabbed some fries and nachos from concession, which was enough to tide the kids over. Are they [the snacks] slightly overpriced? Maybe. But, whatever. You CAN bring your own food, we just didn't think that far ahead this time. [[don't bring glass]] I advise getting there early so you can grab a shady spot or a few chairs to stretch out on. There are picnic tables with shade, and lots of lounge chairs. The slides are maintained well. Do they LOOK old? Yep. But they are repainted/patched/and shored up often. There are new support beams under the river ride, I noticed, and you can see areas where things were replaced/patched which may not be "pretty" but its functional and proof they are maintaining. Its safe and that is what is important. The water is heated, too... then again if you get a chill, just hop in the hot tub. There are lots of different "areas" but it's not too far to walk around, you don't get tired, I should say. Unless you climb the black tower over and over! There are two slides on the black tower. The long, steep slide (of which I have never gone! But my husband did 5 times) and the black hole, a twisty dark ride you go on a tube in, its super fun and both of my kids favorite. They also don't make you use tubes in all of the slides anymore, so that speeds up the process! The employees are always super nice and friendly to the kids. I remember going here as a kid and thinking the Waterslides were the coolest things ever! Come back a few years later with my little nieces and nephews, thinking it'd be fun for them but boring for me. Boy was I wrong. I had to much fun at the water park!! Slides were super fun, for both children and adults!! Can't wait to come back again! read more

Do not go if you are an adult!!! My fiancé and I went and were so disappointed. We only went on 4 slides before both of us were cut up from the pools being far to shallow!! This was not the nostalgic day we had planned. read more

Definitely not worth the price! The facility is dirty, lawn chairs are dirty and look as if they haven't been washed in years! Weeds not grass for a lawn. The facility needs a major update. It doesn't appear any updates or up keep have been done on the slides. There's is a big hole in the tube slide! I don't even want to give this place one star! In my opinion they only get business since there are no other outdoor water facilities available! read more
