I do not think words can fully describe how wonderful of an experience I had at Birch Cafe. This business is just 10 minutes from my childhood home. I did not live in Cleveland as a vegan, and being able to come home and support a local vegan business gives me so much joy. I went with my sister and husband and we each ordered a sandwich and hash brown patty. I also got the Buckeye Latte because when in Ohio you have to have a buckeye! The employee at the register was so patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I asked her many questions, and she had an answer for everything. The latte was the right level of sweetness and so smooth!! It is challenging to get quality vegan lattes and this one I would order again in a heartbeat. I enjoyed the Chipotle Turkey sandwich, my husband ordered the ham and cheese bagel sandwich on a French toast bagel (employee recommended combo), and my sister got the Fiona Hammich. Birch cafe makes their turkey and ham in-house and I was so excited to try their vegan meats. Of the sandwiches I was happiest with the Chipotle Turkey sandwich. The spicy mayo on it was delicious and it had avocado too! I thought the turkey was hearty, a good texture, and flavorful. It didn't remind me of turkey but I honestly like when vegan meat is clearly plant based. My husband's bagel sandwich was a wonderful breakfast treat. The bagel choice was fun as it added a sweetness to the savory meal which is a favorite flavor combination of mine. My sister LOVED her sandwich. For me I enjoyed the flavors in my turkey sandwich more, and she was fine not sharing more than one bite with me. We purchased a large chocolate chip cookie and a turkey meal to take home. The chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I ever had. It was soft and chewy. I would definitely stock up on those cookies next time I am visiting. The turkey meal was such a fun post-Thanksgiving Day treat. My family loved the carrots the most! They were in a creamy horseradish sauce. I love the look and layout of this cute cafe! They have amazing vegan options to try and fall in love with! I went there for the first time and tried their chocolate chip cookie which was great! I also tried on of their breakfast bagel (bacun, sausage, egg and cheese) on an everything bagel which tasted good. When I realized I was in the same area as the Birch Cafe I had to stop. I am not on the east side often so it was time to take advantage of being there. I am always up to try an all vegan establishment. I had heard of them through BVH. The front of the building is very unassuming. When you get inside it is a cute little cafe. They have a full coffee menu, pastries and meals. The seating area was decorated and there was a cozy sofa area to enjoy your coffee. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Listen here, I've never been more pleasantly surprised by a vegan cafe than I was when I took my sister to Birch Cafe! She chose a sandwich of sorts, I truly can't remember which one, and I chose the turkey. I was skeptical of a vegan turkey and if my meat-loving self would approve...honestly, yes you can tell it's not meat BUT it was so flavorful I didn't even care! I loved it! I think it's a great alternative for those we are vegan or just want to enjoy a vegan Sammy! Will absolutely return to try other items! Food was good. Service to get food was extremely slow. We ordered on line and the order was not ready for 20 minutes past when it was promised. We sat down to wait and the server kept asking if we had received our on line order making me feel like we were not supposed to sit. Very friendly service with good vegan food. The first thing I noticed here is how friendly the workers were. I'm not the most social person, but they started polite conversation and made me feel very welcomed. They heated up a breakfast sandwich for me when I arrived to pick up my order. I indulged my sweet tooth and took a look at their desserts as well. I had the Bacun, Sausage, Eggz & Cheese Breakfast Bagel Sandwich. I really liked all of the toppings, but I did have some feedback about the bagel. It was very hard, not burnt, but too tough to chew. I'm not sure if it was because it was nuked too long or if it was stale, but I had to toss most of it. My personal preference is for a lightly toasted breakfast bagel, crisp on the outside and chewy inside. I grabbed a cookie butter "pop tart" for the road. This place is literally the bomb. Being from out of state obviously I called and asked if everything is vegan and the whole menu is!! How amazing. The food is PACKED with flavor. I don't think you can order anything bad. The BLT was my favorite and so was the avocado toast. The cupcakes are INSANE. The Buffalo chicken wrap was good but I'm not a huge fan of lettuce and there was a lot of lettuce but def packed with flavor!! I mean this place is heavenly and the staff is so nice! Visiting Ohio and needed a coffee!! This place came up as a 5 star on Yelp so we stopped. I'm so glad we did!! The owner Roxanne and her Mom Peggy were running the place and they are so personable. The place has a cool vibe and Roxanne has a map of the United States and asked me to put a pin in for my home town. Many pins on the board and several from New York. I didn't know it was a vegan place but the pop tarts looked delicious so I tried a brown sugar one. The crust was to die for!! It was flaky and buttery and the brown sugar inside was a great combo. My husband had the everything bagel with vegan eggs, tomato, avocado, vegan cheese. I tasted it and I missed the real thing but it was one of the best vegan breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The coffee is nice and strong with a robust taste. The Jam on it breakfast sandwich was delicious. I had it with the hash brown patty. The fudge from the store in the back of the lovely but, dangerous, establishment, was great. It was like a Buckeye log. The turkey, cheese, and avocado sandwich, I think it had pesto too, was my favorite. That was the food. I collect pins and put them on my jacket. I bought two vegan logo pins, which were my first vegan pins to add to my jacket. I forgot, I found jerky from the back. Can I first start by saying that I absolutely love this place! I have never had a bad meal/item from Birch Cafe. The owners are are so personable. All orders are brought to you, curbside, with a smile. I've frequented their Pop-ups, and also ordered directly....absolutely love that everything is vegan. I've had the buffalo vegan chicken mac n cheese, turkey, vegan bacon and avocado sandwich, vegan chicken salad sandwich. I LOVE that their sandwiches are served in whole grain bread. I also order a bag of Beanfield tortilla chips, to accompany my order....yum. Today I ordered what is now my favorite item, which was a month of May special, the vegan beefy crunch wrap....OMG, it was SO good, warm, toasty, beefy, creamy and cheesy, with a side of salsa. I stumbled upon this local gem while driving around looking for Starbucks coincidently. They only do curbside which is kind of a bummer. But I've been there twice within the past week or so and I have my go to items. Tomato avocado on a everything bagel with a caramel apple latte. Why doesn't this place get 5 stars? The wait when ordering online is kinda long. Grant it, if it's done ahead of time you can get texts or a call. I wish the lattes could come in a larger size because it's delicious. And last nitpick I just need some salt to be put on the tomato. I know know I could easily do that myself but I eat this at work and if the bagel came with salt and pepper then I'd be ok with that. One of the things I love about Birch is their monthly specials that are available Friday through Sunday after 11 AM. Just when I think I can't eat another French dip sandwich, which is this month's special sandwich (although I'm not sure that's possible), the menu changes for next month! Seriously, I should have posted this sooner. The French dip is made with soy curls, comes with dipping sauce, and has a drizzle of the most incredible creamy horseradish sauce I've ever tasted. I bought a side of potato salad to go with it, which is amazing (and I am a potato salad snob). Get there today if you can to have the French dip sandwich, but if you can't, I'm sure next month's specials will be equally amazing...and of course you can't go wrong with anything from their main menu either! I didn't try their food but I went in for a latte and a treat. Description says they have pastries which probably isn't the word I would use to describe brownies, cookies and cupcakes. Brownie was very good though. The latte on the other hand was overly sweet and really tasted more like a cup of drip coffee with a lot of milk. A little extra packaging waste, I thought (wasteful fancy wood novelty toothpick, and very large bag for one item) but the food containers are compostable, and the bags are recyclable brown paper.
