best sandwich i've ever had and the raspberry chip milkshake was delectable highly recommend!!

I could have SWORN I had written a review for Tommy's years ago as it is one of my visited restaurants in my whole 6 years in Cleveland, but apparently I haven't! So it is clear I love Tommy's, a famous and long established healthy-ish option in Cleveland Heights, as do many others. Back when I was on keto for 2 years straight, I got their salads and now that I've been off keto for 3 years, I stop in for a milkshake or an order of fries from time to time. Parking is abundant in the free garage across the street and there is usually a wait for a table. However, I have never taken my boyfriend to Tommy's in the 2 years we have been together - every time we have tried, it's been a holiday and they are closed. However, we finally dined here for a Sunday lunch in August of 2026 and as usual, I had a 5 star experience! He did too, BTW. Tip of the day - my bf and I skipped the line by sitting at the counter which was a super win as we also got to people watch and observe the chefs at work. Yay! The menu is huge and the prices are weird but everything is yummy and fresh. My chunky butt got the "Josh" milkshake- a cookie dough and banana milkshake of delicious sugary goodness ($7.80). It's my favorite milkshake! We shared a generous order of unsalted fries ($4.99) and dipped them in malt vinegar like champions. I've had both the milkshake and fries before but ordered something new for my main. My bf then got the "silver" corned beef pita sandwich ($14.30) and I got the falafel pita sandwich ($12.10). Soooooo good! And by the time our fresh pitas came out, I was getting full so I got to bring home leftovers! Another win! I do think my bill of nearly $50 was a bit too high but we had a good time and I did recently read that the monthly rent on this place is 7k, so I can see why the prices keep going up and up. Definitely make Tommy's a stop on your itinerary if you're in Cleveland! read more

Coventry is just the BEST, and Tommy's, a fixture in the neighborhood since 1978, offers healthy meal choices, longtime favorites and the best milk shakes. My friend ordered the turkey burger and a side of broccoli that was enormous! I chose the hotdog with healthy chips. (I was surprised that my hotdog was bare--no onions, relish, pickle??) COVENTRY, Cleveland - You guys. The fries. Terrific. Wife and I were in the adjacent bookstore on a Friday evening, around 7ish. Both a little hungry. Figured we'd give Tommy's a shot, not knowing it's this long-standing institution with a devoted fan base. That fandom is deserved. Brightly lit, clean, friendly staff. We were seated immediately. Really interesting menu with a lot of vegetarian and eclectic choices. $5 basket of fries was wayyyy big and some of the best fries I've ever had - a nice crispness on the outside, while fluffy inside. Wife's spinach pie with muenster cheese ($11.85) was flaky and generous with the fillings. Loved my $3 phosphate. My DC falafel sandwich ($14) - with sesame seeds, cheese, sprouts and tomatoes - was crazy big and the falafel was perfectly cooked, with a nice crunch. Our server Kelsey was really personable. All in all, just a great dining experience and if we lived in the area, we'd be frequent fliers at Tommy's. read more

The TLW was awesome, the corned beef was nice and tender and savory, the scrambled eggs were cooked good, the green peppers and onions added nice texture, the pickles added good crunch and cut through the fattiness of the corned beef and cheese, and the pita was toasted perfectly. I'm not sure what my thoughts are about "Tommy's" on Coventry...? On the one hand, we did show up as a last resort after our original plans fell through. And they kindly found a table for us. I really appreciate that. On the other hand, the only word I can think of that describes the place is ... "Disheveled". That's all I've got... Disheveled. It was a bit messy, a little out of order and busy. The waitress was a very kind lady that really did do a good job in taking care of us. She was attentive, pleasant, and on the ball. The menu is extensive and the food was as you would expect from a diner/deli type restaurant. It was hot, substantial, filling, and arrived fast. There was a lot of it so we took half of it home. The coffee was very good and so was the ice cream. Considering that we ended up with a bill for only $51, I think we did all right. read more

Sign in when you walk in on the pad. Wait can be long. It's worth it. Menu is big. Not hard to go thru. Honestly most everything is good. Pita sandwiches are good. That's what I get most of the time. Share the fries it's too much for 1 person. Place is bright and airy. Staff is friendly and efficient. Cost is about average. Use to be a bIt more cost effective but in today's world it's not quite as good. But still ok. Park in the parking lot for free across the street. I wanted to give a shout out to Tommy's. Except for once 30 years ago when i was served rotten babaganoush (sp?) tonight was the first time that I got a meal where the sandwich was both burnt and congealed and missing the tomato. So why the shout out? Because when we called to ask for my money back on the sandwhich, the manager, Kelsy went above and beyond to make up for it. Thank you so much Kelsy!! You are the kind of person that gives me hope for our society and also are a wonderful representative for Tommy's. Good food with lots of variety. After a 45 minute wait over lunchtime, we were seated. No reservations are accepted. The yogurt shakes were recommended by a friend, so all four of us got the raspberry yogurt shake. It was delicious being very creamy with a fresh yogurt taste. The fries are popular so we each order them. One to share would have been plenty! We all took some fries home. Service was very good. The restaurant is clean, and easily accessible. We have been taking the kids here for years, very great service always! Food has been consistently good and out in a nice amount of time, although I could sit there for hours. Tommy's was recommended by a friend from Cleveland and we were excited to check it out. It has the vibes of an old school vegetarian spot -- eclectic granola decor, minimal frills, an extensive menu. The service was pretty fast and everyone was kind. The food is really where I was a bit disappointed. It was simple and tasty, but didn't feel particularly healthy or high quality. It was kinda like eating cafeteria / dining hall food, which is to say that ingredients were simply thrown together without that much thought or care. If I lived in the area it seems like a great spot for lunch from time to time. We arrived and checked in per usual. We only waited perhaps 8 minutes. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. The children in my party ordered pizza. Protect Tommy's at all costs!! It is the most wholesome place for breakfast lunch or dinner. A never ending menu full of something for vegans and meat eaters alike! The inside is bright and has tall ceilings, plants live on the tall shelving and border every window. Such a happy vibe! Service can be hit or miss - I've had wonderful, quick meals and I've had some experiences that i found myself a little forgotten about. I try to give the benefit of the doubt though!! So the vibe of this place was so SICK!!!! It seemed to have a retro 60s style diner vibe and I totally was where for it. However, this veggie burger I got was the most disgusting veggie burger I've ever had. We visited Tommy's because it was a short distance from University Circle and I have always been partial to Coventry. I have been to Tommy's many times before. We were lucky to sit in one of the more private booths, which was nice. The food was ok, but not like I remember. They definitely have an expansive menu and the menu items have fun names. I guess i now prefer smoother hummus. Tommy's hummus has more texture. The falafel salad seemed to be iceberg lettuce a few vegetables and a couple of pieces of falafel, so it was fair. The service was good and staff seemed friendly and engaging. Overall, it was a nice visit with my oldest but we would probably pick another place next time. read more

I love their hummus with the alfalfa sprouts, it's been my favorite thing to get there since I was a kid. I've been going there for 30+ years. Also, the best milkshake in town. I love getting it malted. The vibes are always immaculate, and the service is always impeccable. I've been here twice. First time I ordered the Keith meat pie, based on the waitresses suggestion (that it was a customer favorite). It's rare that I can't finish my meal, but I left half of it. I felt like I was eating overcooked hamburger meat in cardboard pastry. It was so bad I didn't want to return, but everyone else enjoyed theirs. Gave Tommy's a second chance and this time I ordered the chicken breast sandwich, which came out perfect - full of flavor and the chicken nice and moist. I had the TLT which is a turkey club on pita that was very good with their fresh cut fries. The place was packed on Saturday around 1pm. My only complaint was the wait time of 30 minutes. However, Tommy's is worth the wait and I will pick a better day and time to go and so should you. read more

My first time back to Tommy's in about 10 years and it is just as wonderful as I remember it. Great selection of sandwiches with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent fries. Wonderful shakes. This time I had The Colleen which had crispy falafel, bacon and veggies. And I couldn't go to Tommy's without a shake, so I got The Josh which was banana and cookie dough. It was a little difficult to find, we couldn't really see a sign for it but knew the general area it was in. It's much bigger on the inside and the food is amazing!! The vegetarian tamales were so freaking delicious! It's so difficult to find a solid tamale as a not meat eater especially in NEO.
