Chipotle Turkey Sandwich, Fiona Hammoch, and bagel sandwich.
    Molly K.

I do not think words can fully describe how wonderful of an experience I had at Birch Cafe. This business is just 10 minutes from my childhood home. I did not live in Cleveland as a vegan, and being able to come home and support a local vegan business gives me so much joy. I went with my sister and husband and we each ordered a sandwich and hash brown patty. I also got the Buckeye Latte because when in Ohio you have to have a buckeye! The employee at the register was so patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I asked her many questions, and she had an answer for everything. The latte was the right level of sweetness and so smooth!! It is challenging to get quality vegan lattes and this one I would order again in a heartbeat. I enjoyed the Chipotle Turkey sandwich, my husband ordered the ham and cheese bagel sandwich on a French toast bagel (employee recommended combo), and my sister got the Fiona Hammich. Birch cafe makes their turkey and ham in-house and I was so excited to try their vegan meats. Of the sandwiches I was happiest with the Chipotle Turkey sandwich. The spicy mayo on it was delicious and it had avocado too! I thought the turkey was hearty, a good texture, and flavorful. It didn't remind me of turkey but I honestly like when vegan meat is clearly plant based. My husband's bagel sandwich was a wonderful breakfast treat. The bagel choice was fun as it added a sweetness to the savory meal which is a favorite flavor combination of mine. My sister LOVED her sandwich. For me I enjoyed the flavors in my turkey sandwich more, and she was fine not sharing more than one bite with me. We purchased a large chocolate chip cookie and a turkey meal to take home. The chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I ever had. It was soft and chewy. I would definitely stock up on those cookies next time I am visiting. The turkey meal was such a fun post-Thanksgiving Day treat. My family loved the carrots the most! They were in a creamy horseradish sauce. It was so unique we all could not stop talking about the flavors. Thanks, Birch Cafe, for an amazing experience. I will certainly be back next time I am visiting family.

When I realized I was in the same area as the Birch Cafe I had to stop. I am not on the east side often so it was time to take advantage of being there. I am always up to try an all vegan establishment. I had heard of them through BVH. The front of the building is very unassuming. When you get inside it is a cute little cafe. They have a full coffee menu, pastries and meals. The seating area was decorated and there was a cozy sofa area to enjoy your coffee. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was worth the trip and if I am ever in the area I will make a point to stop in.

Avocado toast w/cucumber, feta, tomato and chili oil (ordered the first visit to the cafe). Pretty tasty, should use less flimsy bread.

Simple options, pretty good flavor and very good prices. I got a $5 off coupon in my email so I decided to comeback the following day for quick snacks before hitting the road back home. Got a coffee...not good quality or flavor, a spiced turmeric latte: very disappointing, neither spiced nor contained any hint of turmeric and temp was slightly warm (ordered hot). Chocolate chip blonde was pretty tasty.

I happened to be in the area at blulotusbeauty upstairs from Birch and decided to stop in. The space is very warm and welcoming as were the employees. I got the St Paddy day special the Ruben and a macaroni salad. Too die for. The Ruben was absolutely delightful chefs kiss. The macaroni salad did not lack one bit in flavor. Def will be stopping in each time I'm in the area for some more vegan goodies!!!

Bacun, Sausage, Eggz & Cheese Sandwich. Great toppings, but the bagel was hard, probably nuked too long. (Don't tell Gordon Ramsey)

Very friendly service with good vegan food. The first thing I noticed here is how friendly the workers were. I'm not the most social person, but they started polite conversation and made me feel very welcomed. They heated up a breakfast sandwich for me when I arrived to pick up my order. I indulged my sweet tooth and took a look at their desserts as well. I had the Bacun, Sausage, Eggz & Cheese Breakfast Bagel Sandwich. I really liked all of the toppings, but I did have some feedback about the bagel. It was very hard, not burnt, but too tough to chew. I'm not sure if it was because it was nuked too long or if it was stale, but I had to toss most of it. My personal preference is for a lightly toasted breakfast bagel, crisp on the outside and chewy inside. I grabbed a cookie butter "pop tart" for the road. It was very good and a nice snack for the next leg of my road trip. Overall, I liked this place and the service. I just wanted to share feedback about the hard bagel and maybe that was just a fluke. I would come here again!

This place is literally the bomb. Being from out of state obviously I called and asked if everything is vegan and the whole menu is!! How amazing. The food is PACKED with flavor. I don't think you can order anything bad. The BLT was my favorite and so was the avocado toast. The cupcakes are INSANE. The Buffalo chicken wrap was good but I'm not a huge fan of lettuce and there was a lot of lettuce but def packed with flavor!! I mean this place is heavenly and the staff is so nice! I recommend order ahead online so you don't wait. I thought you could walk in but they only do curbside and delivery. The staff is awesome and so is the food, worth a drive!

This is a cute spot with ample space inside. The staff was v sweet and provided recs. They do have a decent range of coffee options. The mocha was decent

Wonderful vegan place with full menu and plenty of snacks and other fun retail items. Lots of meat substitutes to buy from their fridges. Plenty of pastries. Open air space with plenty of seating.

Love the relaxed vibe and clean energy in this cafe. Cute and comfy decor with a modern vibe and super friendly staff. Easy to understand menu and specials. I ordered the pesto wrap which was delicious! You could taste the fresh basil and you had your choice of 5-6 different flavor tortillas. Tasty and unique iced teas and drinks available. Cute little local shopportunities available in the back. Easy parking. Will definitely pick up breakfast or lunch here again. All vegan but a meat eater will love it too!

Let me just say this sandwich was incredible! Bursting with flavor and piled high with scrumptious vegan meat! I'm not a vegan and loved this sandwich! Great service and a plethora of options on the menu! Will definitely be back!

There were some other people playing a card game at the other end of the table. There's also other tables and couches around. I also liked the separate kind of game room in the front, seemed like a great place to host a small book club or meet with friends. As I was scanning the menu to make my drink selection, I felt the eyes of both baristas staring at me the whole time. I kind of felt out of place or like an outsider for some reason. Maybe it's just me, but it made it uncomfortable. The coffee selections were pretty basic and I don't remember any food options but I wasn't looking either. It does seem like a comfortable place to chill with a drink or get work done, especially with all the couches, but it was a little too dark and somewhat odd to me.

First I went with my standard cold brew order and their ham and cheese toastie for lunch before I hit the road out of town. As I was sipping my delicious cold brew and waiting for my sandwich I remembered Stephanie recommending their espresso tonics and decided I should probably give it a try while I was there. So I got back in line and made a follow up order of their amaretto tonic and also grabbed bag of beans since I liked the coffee I was already drinking so much. The awesome barista asked if I wanted them to grind the beans for me and I gratefully accepted the offer. The follow up question was how I was planning to prepare the coffee (the marker of a spot that cares about their product!) and I responded it would likely be a cold brew (tis the season!) so a coarse grind it was. After they ground me up I hung out a bit enjoying the ambiance because the space is REALLY cute. I love their brand aesthetic, a western vibe but in a hot pink and teals palette, making it a bit more playful with a pop art spin. They also have huge windows with great natural light making the whole place bright and cheery. It just made me happy to be in there. I have to admit I'm not sure if an espresso tonic is for me but it was super interesting and thoughtfully developed so I'm glad I tried it. My ham and cheese toastie was really good and it was the perfect sandwich to eat on the road. Excited to use the beans I brought home for our next cold brew, too!

Tucked in Coventry neighborhood, there's Phoenix Coffee. The first thing you notice walking in is the vibe -- warm exposed brick walls, quirky and ever-changing local art (currently fairytale motif), and the smell of seriously strong, seriously good coffee. The Siren Eclipse art on the wall is alone worth the visit. And the scones? Unreal. Flaky, buttery, and somehow always fresh out of the oven. Really probably the best around. There's also other breakfast snacks like muffins and such. Very limited options but very tasty. Bonus points for the greenery -- the place doubles as a mini plant shop. There's a few leafy ones you can pick up. I got large drip coffee while I was there and it perfectly strong. There's two size options, light or dark roast. The menu also features some seasonal favorites. I had recently spring matcha there that was so vibrantly green. There's also a pretty extensive tea assortment. For warmer months, consider seating outside. They have very fun and aesthetically pleasing wooden benches. Street parking is available in the area but it gets busy. Try parking garage on the street to park. It's free to use.
