UnBar is a woman-owned wine bar and coffee shop union. Is there a better duo? I don't think so. I unexpectedly really enjoyed my experience. I stopped in today for a cup of morning coffee but walked away with my hands full. I got iced coffee which came in a smaller than I wanted cup. I also got mushroom latte which was perfectly spiced with cinnamon, and very smooth. I selected almond milk and feel like it paired well with the ingredients. Also I had to have some baked goodies after looking at the bakery case. I ordered croissant which honestly I found to be not fresh but still good. Apricot tea cake in the perfect world deserves its own paragraph. It was delicious, generously filled, and everything a tea cake should be. It's a must have! Service here is phenomenal! I mean top notch, attentive, and very genuine. There was only one employee serving the line but she did it with such a level of positivity that it made my morning. She asked if baked goodies needed to be warmed, asked about drink carriers, milk preferences, everything. She was consistently friendly with all customers. I really applaud this cafe on having such warm and friendly service. I wish more workers were in this morning to attend to the line but the service was incredible. As far as the cafe layout and amenities, here's the scoop. The cafe has wine, beer, coffee, and breakfast/lunch grab and go's. They have a coffee club where you get your own tumbler and you can join for $20. They also have plants for sale on a display much like Phoenix coffee. They also have a printer that you can use to print things. I don't know about you but I always feel like I need to print things. I mean it. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, was quiet when I was there and is somewhere you can really focus and do your most meaningful work. I also like the separation from the counter to the seating portion that makes it more secluded. I could totally see myself sitting here all day outside and enjoying the sunshine. Overall, if you have wine or caffeine needs, stop by this cafe. It's an unexpected gem of Larchmere. Order mushroom latte, it's a unique local find and is very tasty. Lastly, the cafe seems to have many regulars. One of the customers said "it's always a joy to be here" to cafe employee. That's exactly how it felt here - joyful. read more

One of my regular go-to spots when I need to plug in and get things done. The staff is always pleasant and consistent, which keeps me coming back. I'm a fan of their refreshers--today I tried the Dragonfruit Elderberry refresher along with an all-beef hotdog and mini donuts. Everything was made fresh and absolutely hit the spot. The interior has a cozy, contemporary feel with inspirational quotes on the walls, but today I opted to sit outside and catch up with a friend. My dad and I did a walkabout through Larchmere and stopped in for a quick refreshment. We took a look at the menu and decided to stay and have lunch. The girl behind the counter was so nice! Apparently the kitchen was closed. We missed it by five minutes, but she decided to go back there and make our lunch on her own! What an amazing employee! Great spot on Larchmere, close to Shaker Square. Service was quick, attentive , and friendly despite the longish line! Excellent ! I got an iced chai latte which was was perfectly spiced and well priced. All the refreshers I've had were great and , well, refreshing!! Interior is clean, bright, and inviting. My friend and I sat outside at a cafe table and enjoyed watching the passersby on Larchmere, which has a lot of great shoppes and businesses. Looking forward to more visits to Ungar!! read more

I love Unbar Cafe! I really respect that one of their values is to encourage social situations without alcohol. They routinely host social events to encourage community, bring people together, and offer a gathering space. The inside has a very welcoming and homey vibe and I didn't order any food, but they seem to have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan items. I met a friend at the nearby Lotus Candles and we came here for smoothies afterwards. I added matcha and was pretty pleasantly surprised! A sign of a good coffee shop is when you see people planted and staying a while working. The staff was super helpful and I was thrilled to see a big coffee and tea menu. Hanging out in Cleveland, I took a chance on UnBar while in the Shaker Heights neighborhood. I noticed the welcoming atmosphere that seemed to be commonplace in all of the establishments I went to while visiting Cleveland. The Ethiopian coffee was great. I hadn't realized that I had not added any sugar until I was all done drinking it. That's the mark of good coffee. I ordered a slice of sweet potato pie to go with it. Definitely was worth the purchase and I'm a sweet potato snob, having grown up Down South where sweet potato pies reign supreme. UnBar is a very nice space for relaxing or meeting with a few friends. Good coffee and even better service make for a winner. They are on my list for whenever I return to Cleveland for a visit. read more

God, this place rocks! The staff was the nicest, and the atmosphere was just pure good vibes. They have all sorts of in house food options, drink options, and many great grab and go options...plus it's a vegan/vegetarian dream land! I got a mocha with coconut\almond milk, and an avocado veggie sandwich. They have quite literally every milk option ever which always makes me happy. Dine in was available during covid times and I'm sure this would be a wonderful place to get some serious work done. Came here on "small business Saturday ", this place exactly wasn't my idea at first when I thought of "UnBar". This place has by far one of the most friendliest and welcoming atmospheres in the Cleveland area. The guests and staff are very friendly and attentive! What is an UnBAR? I had the same thought driving past and had to stop in. So let's break it down. A bar being a casual space for chilling solo or as a group with the understanding that alcohol will be freely flowing, UnBAR recognizes that all is not necessarily fun and games when too much alcohol is involved. It's a casual meeting spot for those looking to meet, hang out, or work without the temptations of alcohol. In addition, UnBAR boasts an adjacent meeting space available for private get-togethers and for their upcoming line-up of dance and yoga classes. Street parking on Larchmere isn't too hard to find during regular business hours but much of the nearby spots are limited to 2 hours at a time. Walking in, there's an immediate feel of modernity, but softened with the coffee bar and kids playset near the front. It still has that smell of new construction as the smell of coffee roasting hasn't seeped into everything yet. Flavorings of earth in the fresh flowers, colorful paintings of flora and fauna, and inspiring quotes on the walls give way to a sleek and chic lounge area in the back - complete with a fake fireplace and TV. There's ample small tables gathered in the middle section large enough to seat four with a coffee each, or one person with a large laptop fueled by coffee and sugary sweets (guess which one I am). I was greeted warmly and set my sights on a latte, but was pleased to note health-conscious made-to-order smoothies, yogurt parfaits, and salads. There was unfortunately only limited offerings of baked goods in a small display case (cookies, muffins, brownies, apple turnovers), but my brownie was fudgy, dense, and satisfying. I did not get to sample their non-alcoholic cocktails, but expect that these would be house specials. Being so new, some of the employees are still in training and had to double check things while taking my order, but they made up for their inefficiencies with enthusiasm. I would have liked to see a water pitcher available for tap water for those lounging around, but did appreciate the easy coffee condiment station complete with plastic silverware up for grabs. As far as lounging goes, the tables are flanked by hard metal seats with slats that might not be too comfortable for long sitting sessions, but the couches around the fireplace and groovy 70s soul music are inviting enough. What's more, there's free Wi-Fi for customers and no matter where you go you're never too far away from an outlet. And for nerds like me, there's the extra bonus of the cafe being right next to a Pokemon Go gym. Fans of UnBAR's philosophy can show their support by purchasing items like wristbands, shirts, and bags from the store, each emblazoned with encouraging messages. It's the modern version of a hippie hug-out for your soul - gentle subliminal messaging that everything is going to be alright. read more

Hidden gem in lachmere. Unbar has the best vibes. I love studying here. It can get a little bit loud, a group of men can typically be found playing chess here, but I personally love the atmosphere. Love Unbar for multiple reasons: black owned, walking distance from where I live, coffee is good. I use to frequent Unbar but went back to Starbucks all because they have order ahead. They can be a little slow here and i don't want to have to get up 15 minutes earlier than I do just got coffee. It would be great if they got some order ahead app for those on the go. Today's experience turned me off just a little. Walked in ordered right away, didn't have a long wait. As the girl hands me my mocha she says I can put a lid on it but it doesn't fit. If I'm getting a beverage to go I expect to be able to drink it on the go. Not have a cup without a lid. I literally looked at her like ummm what. Larchmere has been needing a "third-space" for a while, and this is the perfect place! My visit there was short, but I'll definitely be a returning customer. While I was there, I had to wait a minute for the barista to take my order (he didn't know I was there, and I didn't know he was there) and once he realized, he gave me a coupon and upped the size of my beverage for making me wait. Great service and super friendly! Atmosphere: This space, compared to other coffee shops in the area, is large enough to relax without feeling like you're the only one in the space, which is great. They have plants all around, cute lights, and play soft music. It's kid friendly and they have a table and activities for them. I saw some one working in the dining area while I stopped in. There are some cute Knickknacks, hats, items you can purchase there as well. For the covid era, they have taped off the appropriate spacing for ordering and dining. Food/bevs: all I've ordered thus far is a drink and two cookies - both of which were AMAZING! I got the "refresher", which holds to its name. I have never had such a satisfyingly refreshing beverage, with the right amount of sweetness and crispness - Go for the berry one! I also purchased lavender cookies, provided by SolBowl, which was the perfect lavender treat with just the right amount of sweetness. They also have some grab and go wraps, they've got cake, pretty much anything you'd want or need for a light breakfast or lunch on the go. Also, I wouldn't drop in unless I planned to stay and do work as some items are made to order and take at least 20 minutes. I got their vegan cheeseburger which was missing some ingredients. I only asked for no pickles. The guava and passion fruit smoothie was good but not really a smoothie consistency as one would expect. Also got their vegan peach Cobbler which was also tasty.
