The saddest company ever, if they cannot solve a problem, they blame somebody else. And anyway try to charge early termination fees, for non-operating service. If the "help" desk is not happy with what you are asking, they will simply put you on hold and never come back again. We are now 6-7 over 2 months into this and Birch still hasn't solved the problem. As it appears they changed their provider(they are only the middle man) and keep insisting 20Mb now needs to go over fiber optic, which is of course nonsense, because it didn't use fiber before. But!!!! If we pay for connecting the fiber and sign an agreement for 3! years they allow us to keep the same terrible terms. They however will not send an agreement by e-mail to review as they don't use e-mail, that's interesting for an internet service provider, to not trust their own business. My 80+ year old Mom has mild dementia and lives in an apartment in a nursing home. Birch's salesperson called at night, when many with dementia are especially confused (sundown syndrome) and talked her into a package of services she did not need. Birchnet sold her their business package for her phone service with 1,500 minutes of long distance a month. They also sold her their "cable protection" which she did not need (her cable is provided through the home). They also charged her a month in advance. Clearly their business model is to take advantage of seniors. We've been trying to cancel the service, but their customer "service' is VERY hard to get a hold of, and RUDE when you do. Birch Communications customer service is truly lacking. We had problems with our DSL and phone service. Each time I called to try to resolve the issues I was told it was our phones or our computers. Then when I tried to cancel our service they wouldn't allow our new provider to port the numbers without a weeks notice. We had to reschedule then Birch said we had to give another weeks notice. After all of that they are charging us an early termination fee for missing the deadline which would would have made twice without their delays. They were no help. I tried to pay the balance and was told I had to wait for the next bill. Every call was another excuse and another delay. Don't waste your time with this very unprofessional company. I have now been on hold for over 15 minutes just trying to talk to customer service. I have been with them for years and never had issue until now. I was trying to disconnect and they were giving me run around when I was able to talk to someone two days ago. They told me someone would call me back and no one yet. Customer service convinced me to switch my service over. When I decided to switch back, I intentionally waited until I knew the contract was up. But, somehow I was automatically put on an automatic renewal, so when I called, I just been automatically renewed. When I called to try to get out of it, the "supervisor" would not talk to me, she only talked through the phone representative. Wow, not good !! I was a commercial customer from Cebyond days, over 8 years loyal service after Birch purchased. Our company grew and we moved to Voice over IP with ATT. I followed all protocol to cancel service, but was left with 30 days service to pay for after the fact. The manager, Cortney on duty, was not helpful and told me " That's the way it reads". You owe even for duplicate service...... My advise, stay away from Birch and look for a service that does not hide fees and is user friendly. Marcus with Tech Support was very rude and not helpful at all. Our business cell phones do not have all of the carrier updates for Wi-Fi Calling and they are saying it is not on their end. The phone is supported by Apple and Marcus said the feature is supported by Birch. I called Apple and the tech support person was very helpful and said to try a reset to factory settings but most likely it is on Birch's end. Marcus did not suggest doing a factory rest, so the Apple phone tech was way more helpful. We have a pretty big account with them, and I will be pricing other options for our business phone services. read more

We are a surgeons office and when we called to have our phones moved to our new location, 1st, we were told we had to sign a new contract 2nd, we were told that our order would be expedited (which it was not) and then CHIKE NWOKE (our sales rep) said he may or may not have told us that! 3rd, THEN they wanted to charge us $150 to expedite it and couldn't even guarantee that it would be moved by the date we needed! Birch Communications took over the Globalinx Internet phone services from 5linx. Last week I was referred to Birch by 5linx to cancel my service. Needless to say, that the static in that phone link was so bad I had to hang up and try to call again. I got the same thing on three tries. Today, I decided to call 5linx. Thru their phone tree I was able to connect to Tempo or Birch Communications to cancel my services that was established January 2013. This lady tells me there is a $90 some odd dollar early cancellation fee. First off, when I became a member of 5linx, there was no contract or commitment as to how long you can have your service. Secondly, she argues that my service was established with Birch in January 2014 and does not end until 2016. I HATE FRAUDULENT COMPANIES and I most certainly hate being taken advantage of. Absolutely horrible company! I work for a MSP and one of our clients is a non profit organization. They had several internet outages which took them days and sometimes weeks to resolve. The loss of money and productivity to their business due to Birch was substantial. Birch's call wait times are extremely long, you get very little help and they string you along with many excuses. Our non profit requested to terminate their contract early because of the many issues and outages due to the fault of Birch, yet they refuse to waive the early termination fee. I have been working for 3 months to disconnect a large number of lines from our business account. I was able to email the list after disconnecting 3 lines over the phone at 5-10 minutes for each line. It took 2 months of correspondence for them to remove the lines from our account. Now they will not credit me back for the lines that were disconnected 2 months ago without calling in and sitting on hold for 30-60 minutes to talk to a representative. I gave in and called to get my money back. We are talking over $500.00 per month in credits. I was told it would take up to 30 days to review our case and then only consideration, no guarantee would be given to credit us back. When I got off the phone I emailed my contact with the information that was given to me on the phone as requested him to help expedite the process. Not possible, without calling back and requesting an expedition on the case number. RUN AWAY! Do not use this company for ANYTHING! They have the worst customer service. Poor, poor, POOR customer service. We ended up with Birch Communication due to availability and cost in our area! I have ALWAYS said, "you get what you pay for". So fitting in this case. So we were experiencing technical difficulties during the hurricane / tropical storm Harvey so we called customer service. For starters, the hold was 20 minutes EACH time I called. When finally reaching a rep, she's very nasty. After explaining that we were having issues with the phone service she says, "if there is nothing wrong with the phone you will have to pay $150". Question to them, what if you locate an issue? Her reply: Then you don't pay anything. By this time we have grown even more frustrated so we tell her that we are considering changing to AT&T after we are back up and running, after the storm. THIS rude, NASTY heifa' says, "would you like for me to transfer you to that department? ". What happened to good customer service....did it go out with chivalry? We had been a customer of CBeyond since 2003. Excellent service from them and never had problems. Just had to sign a renewal with Birch to hold our contract prices for 1 more year and was quoted a price per month by our account representative. When I received our first invoice under this "new renewal" the price increase $194 per month over the amount on the signed contract I have. I was told that some of our services weren't included. Never have I been more upset with a company as I am with them. Why offer a renewal price if you can charge anything you want. Way to treat a long time customer Birch. I cant give them ZERO stars. After providing Birch, in writing, that we are discontinuing and disconnecting our service, they continue to bill our company. Every month since April, I have to call them to complain that they continue to bill us and every time I am assured that they will cease billing and don't know why it continues. When we first signed up with Birch, my predecessor signed an agreement that also included cell phone service and cell phones. I entered the picture and analyzed the bill to catch this billing question. After some discovery, I verified that we received 5-6 cell phone but that none of them have been activated and where still sealed in OEM packaging yet Birch was charging us texting fees of $3.00 - $5.00 per phone per line. They would not refund the money nor would they release our company from the cell phone service agreement term. We paid the disconnect balance on the cell phones and decided to wait until our 3 year agreement for the remanding services agreement to expire. I wish Cbeyond had never sold to Birch. Problem tickets do not exist unless you request a ticket number. I had internet only, which continually went down over a 12 month period. The standard answer is their equipment is working fine. After 5 days with no internet or phones in January 2018, I gave up and went to another carrier. I would not recommend this company. I specifically said no contracts, month to month only in the initial agreement phone call that was supposed to be recorded and with the sales department. They were only able to provide a recording for a follow up call that stated the rates were guaranteed for 36 months but no specific mention of a 36 month contract. Silly me to think that a 36 month contract should be stated as such not just called a guaranteed rate for 36 months. When you call to advice them for cancellation once your contract ends they ask you to call 5 days prior, then you call 5 days prior and they say it takes about 30 days for cancellation to be done meaning that you would have to pay no matter what for another month without using their service. Then you call to speak with a representative and when you ask her again to clarify you understood the bill, the customer service representative laughs at you this is so disrespectful and unprofessional. I received a call today at my business from Birch, telling me they were working with Verizon and could lower my rates about 30%. Our bill is enormous, so I figured I'd listen to what she said, being with Verizon and all... The rep was a very fast talker and danced around every question I had. I don't agree to verbal, non-initiated contracts, so even though I was skeptical, I thought I'd look over a hard copy and see what they had to offer. I asked her to email me information..."well, there's really nothing I can email"...red flag #1. Ok, so let me do some research and I'll give you a call back. Is there a number I can reach you? "well, no, but I can answer your questions now"...red flag #2. So the discount is from Verizon? "well, no; we are a separate company. Verizon bills us and we bill you." Red flag #3. Alright, then I'll think about it and you can give me a call back in a couple of weeks. "well, the discount won't be available then". RED FLAGS FLYING EVERYWHERE! I have had an ongoing issue with Birch Communications for a month now and our problem is still not resolved. Apparently their company is not compatible with a small business phone system that has Caller ID capabilities. It's 2014, get it together already. Whenever we call patients, our number shows up as "BLOCKED CALLER" which is not good for business or trying to get in touch with our patients. In fact, one of the repair technicians, Tracey, actually closed out our repair ticket and then stated that our office told her "everything was working" (completely false), when we've actually been calling them several times a week to check the status of our repair. A technician was supposed to be scheduled to come out to our office by Jackie and, of course, that never happened! We are constantly getting the run-around, and I'm shocked that these business practices are not deemed criminal. I'm so over this stupid company! I can't wait to cancel our contract in MAY and I will never recommend them to ANYONE! read more

BEWARE POSSIBLE SCAM Someone called my company today from Birch claiming to be a affiliate of AT&T. They told me my rate was about to be cut in half, at which time they tried to give me a reference number. I promptly did a google search and came across this Yelp I asked why they would give me a reference number if the call was just a 'information call' of the lowering of my rate. I thought it was odd as we are a Canadian company with a US number forwarder. Their attempt to pull my number from AT&T via phone was not a honest one and reading from the reviews many are being scammed. I have since called their customer support giving them a opportunity to defend the 'Phishing" sales tactics and was promptly brushed off. Beware of this company as any company that needs to deceive to get business is probably not a company one wants to do business with. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPNAY. I only wish I could give Birch Communication less than 1 star. The company is not small business friend or friend with any size business. I called in a service call on a Friday afternoon, was told by the CSR that the Tech would call me Monday or Tuesday of the following week to set up a day/time to come out for the repair. At that time, I told the CSR that I would hire a 3rd party to come out and fix the phone line because as a small business there is no possible way I could be with out a phone line all weekend. I received a phone call for a Tech 9 days later wanting to set up an appointment for Tuesday or Wednesday (that would have been more than 10 days since I called in for a resolution). I told the Tech that the phone line had been repaired two Fridays before and that there was no service needed. I spoke to another CSR and then three more managers. I explained the situation and all agreed with me that there should be no charge. I guess Birch expects business to do with out phone service for multiple days. The next months bill, I was charged a trip charge of $127. Called in and spoke w/ another manager who turned it over the another department. Well the escalation department validated the charges and said that the charges would stand. WTH??? I have had several problems with billing issues, lack of customer service, the inability to reach a CSR/manager when there are issues with the phone lines or billing issues. Needless to say, this company will lose my business and I will make sure that the people I have referred to Birch know about this ridicules charge and I will refer them to another company. read more

To begin with, I have LITERALLY been a business AND personal customer of Birch for 12!!!!!!!!!!!!! years with 2 lines in my office and a home line or 2 at any given time. I have received decent service over the years, hence my loyalty. I like to support small business. I am small business. I always recieved prompt phone service and had my issues resolved in a timely an professional manner. Recently i have had such SLOW internet speeds that i inquired into xfinity business and after consulting w Birch, switched to much faster and cost effective internet with the other company.. BOY DID THAT COST ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in the habit of OVERPAYING Birch as in the past billing fluctuations would lead to disconnect notices so i just sent them extra in every month thru my bill pay. This accrued to having an overage on my 2 accounts of over $700 at the time I cancelled with them,. Little did I know that my "contract" auto renewed (illegal in Ga since a few years ago") a couple of months ago that by canceling prematurely that i owed them collectively $800 on my 2 accounts. When I tried to appeal to the service reps better judgement and asked for help as an ANCIENT customer i was told that I was out of luck. --So, To recap. ---Long term loyal customer with multilple accounts. If they call you, HANG UP. Like many of the other reviews I've seen, they called our office pretending to be our current carrier. They were fast-talking and bullying and wouldn't slow down at all when I tried to get clarification as to exactly what they were changing on our phone lines. As they claimed to be our current provider, I asked them to walk line by line through our phone bill with me and explain exactly where the changes would be made and they said they can't see the bill. After getting transferred to a supervisor, and going through the entire thing again, I finally figured out they were NOT our current provider. When I asked about our international rates/plans he told me they don't offer an international plan, it would be minute by minute charges, but then he recommended I use some other international code before each of my calls as he does when he calls his wife in Afghanistan. I seriously wonder if he really has a wife in the armed services or if it was just part of the scam. I did manage to get off the phone without committing to anything. I have to admit, if it weren't for the fact I have already been going through our bill with our provider with a fine-toothed comb lately, I totally would've fallen for it. BEWARE!! if you did fall for their lies, its ok relax, call a reputable phone company, inform them of what happened and they should begin the "win-back process" it took me about a week for us to get back to our previous provider. I know that if you cancel prior to the 30 day trial period you do not have to pay any cancellation fees. Unfortunately I don't know what you would have to do if you take more than 30 days to cancel and to get out of the $1,400 (or $1,700) cancellation fee.
