This collision repair place does a lot of business in Winnipeg. It can take several weeks to get an initial inspection appointment, then they take your car in shortly after. They keep you informed by text message as to progress being made. I had a relatively new vehicle need some bodywork and an alignment. It took about a month or so to complete the work as I recall. All the staff I dealt with were professional and courteous. read more

In winter, my SUV slid on the ice and hit a snowbank, which damaged the lower part of the bumper. I filed a claim with MPI in Manitoba, and the dealership recommended Birchwood Collision in Winnipeg. While there, I noticed another customer was very dissatisfied with their paint job. Regardless, Birchwood Collision ordered the necessary parts and installed a new bumper. When I picked up my vehicle, I noticed the lights weren't working properly and had to bring it back for them to fix the issue. A week later, a dash warning appeared indicating a problem with the electronic brake--an issue I'd never had before. When I called Birchwood Collision about it, they denied any responsibility, insisting it wasn't related to their work, despite my explanation that this was a new problem. Two to three weeks after the repair, the wrapped grille at the bottom of the bumper detached. I returned to the shop, and they initially agreed to fix it. After about a week, they called saying the repair was completed, but the grille was still not properly installed. I pointed this out to the staff, who admitted it wasn't correct and said they'd look at it again. Two weeks later, they told me the grille wasn't covered under the insurance claim. When I questioned this--since the grille was located just a couple of inches from the damaged area--they advised me to contact MPI. After waiting for about 10-15 minutes, they claimed they had reported the issue to MPI and that I should wait for a response. When I followed up with MPI, I learned Birchwood Collision had reported the grille damage as "wear and tear" without telling me. I found their conduct dishonest, irresponsible, and unprofessional. They advertise a warranty on their repairs but avoid taking responsibility and always make excuses instead of fixing issues properly. I would never take my vehicle back to them and strongly recommend avoiding this shop and their misleading practices. read more

I was going to write a detailed review, but after seeing that this place has already received several 1-star reviews, it speaks volumes about their services. Therefore, there is no need to mention how poorly they deal with warranty on the work they do, and instead, recommend more work getting done by them at a new cost. Wish there was a zero star option that I could have picked. I recommend seeing another local repair instead, and don't waste your time and money here. read more

Terrible service and even worse communication. Took my 2021 Seltos in for repair after a fender bender. Car came back with damage on my front passenger door, They didn't put the vehicle name back on the tailgate and they left pieces inside the vehicle that were dirty and made a huge mess of my backseat. I called to let them know...all they said was the name tag was on order and they would let me know when it came in. It's been about 2 months so far and i haven't heard a thing back from them yet. ABSOLUTE WORST!!! I have a pot hole claim on my bmw and birchwood collision center wouldn't even give me the time of day or accept my claim. Sent me a text message stating "We will have to kindly decline your claim we wish you the best of luck " ..Really? Best of luck???...unbelievable what kind of body shop refuses work? They are obviously in very big disarray after all there best employees are all no longer there. Kinda makes me wonder if I should even continue buying BMW'S or any other luxury cars any longer. Worst experience and customer service. I will not recommend them to anyone. Vehicle got hit in feb twice my appointment got cancelled finally got my repair done in August. Riqi Garcia was so unprofessional no updates, no follow up.My adjuster left them message in shared system she was like I haven't heard anything. Terrible centre. Left my car untouched for weeks, claimed they'd ordered parts which they hadn't. Found "new problems" at the same site of the damage it was taken in for BUT didn't include it in the quote for MPI (clearly didn't assess properly or forgot to include it) therefore expected me to payout of pocket for further repairs. They have had my car for three months to replace a broken wing mirror damaged in a theft. Unfortunately not the first or second time we've had trouble with Birchwood...should have known better than to use their collision center. They will receive no more money or sales from any of our friends or family, even if it means we have to leave the province to purchase our next car. Beware, cannot be trusted!!! read more

I doubt any dealership could rank lower than this place. One stop shop for every possible complain you can think off. Terrible workmanship, additional damages to your car, unexpected charges and cost, unnecessary delays and wait times (be prepared to be without your car for 2 weeks longer than the already absurd repair time it takes) The management team is very rude and will try to intimidate you when you complain about additional damages they caused. Do yourself a favour and avoid them. There are much better collision centers out. Multiple people have had terrible experiences. I only wish I had known earlier and avoided them myself. read more

I took my 2016 Mini Cooper in for repair at the Birchwood Collision Centre Pointe West following an accident. Accident occurred on Jan 2/19 and I was able to get in for a direct estimating appointment on Jan 3/19. While on route to dropping vehicle off on Jan 3/19, it was noticed that the windshield fluid tank was damaged during the accident and was not retaining washer fluid. This was pointed out to the collision centre, with an explanation as to why this was a safety risk given the warmer than usual weather conditions. A enterprise rental car was provided to me at no charge. On Jan 4/19 I received a call from the collision centre advising the vehicle was ready for pick-up. I asked how this could be, given the vehicle was not safe to drive without windshield fluid. I was advised that MPI did not consider a damaged windshield fluid tank reason enough to deem the vehicle as unsafe or "not drivable". I was advised the vehicle needed to be picked up and the rental returned by 6:00 PM. After numerous calls to MPI, they agreed the vehicle was not safe to drive. I asked MPI to contact the collision centre to sort the issue out. I contacted the collision centre and advised them I would not be picking up the vehicle or returning the rental car. On Jan 7/19, I contacted the Collision centre who advised the vehicle was now "not drivable" and I could keep the rental. On Jan 21/19, in the morning, the Collision centre contacted me to advise the vehicle was ready for pick-up. I arrived at the collision centre around 1600 to find my vehicle in the parking lot. It appeared freshly washed, but frozen solid. I had difficulties opening the passenger and driver side doors because of this. I started the vehicle and begin to warm it up. At this point I realized the passenger and driver side doors would not close. After 20 minutes of warming the vehicle, I was finally able to get the doors to close. I begin driving home and realized the heater/defroster was not operating at full capacity. The front facing heater hardly appeared to be working. I arrived home and turned off the vehicle, only to be met with multiple warnings/notices on the dashboard: "Battery Discharged" and "Vehicle Battery Charge Low". I contacted the collision centre at 1745, only to be transferred to a voicemail. I left a detailed message and awaited a response. The next morning, Jan 22/19, I had difficulties starting the vehicle and continued to be warned of a low battery. The driver door would not close, until the vehicle had been warmed for 20 minutes. The heater/defroster continued not to function properly. I sent an email to the collision centre via their website with the details of my problems and requested a call back ASAP. At approximately 1000, I received a call from Mike (a manager) at the collision centre. He advised the issues I was experiencing were related to the battery and the I needed to bring back the vehicle to have the battery charged. Apparently this was a common issue with BMWs/Minis. He also advised the vehicle would be kept indoors overnight to thaw out the doors. Later that afternoon, I dropped the vehicle off again and was provided another rental vehicle. On Jan 23/19, I return to the collision centre to pick up my vehicle. Finally it appeared all the problems were resolved. It's now Jan 27/19 and I again had difficulties closing the passenger door. After about 40 minutes, I was finally able to get it closed. I have now contacted Winnipeg Mini Service Centre directly to schedule an appointment. I refuse to deal with the collision centre any further. Avoid this collision centre if at all possible. It has been a complete nightmare dealing with them from start to finish. Their communication and attention to detail is terrible. read more

Very disappointed with both service and work. First the only way to contact them is thru the Birchwood call centre which puts you through to voice mail that you're lucky to get a response. The shuttle service driver refused to use gps and got lost three times on trip to pickup vehicle. Delay of 45 min meant my wife had to take a cab. Now the work..... The job was simple. 10 minutes to replace a part that needed basic tools, little knowledge, and no paint or work, just replace a part. Well after a week I noticed the part wasn't fitting well so after a closer inspection I discovered that half the tabs it was supposed to be clipped in with were not clipped in. And the new part was barley secured. Tried calling the collision centre which goes through a call centre to voice mail which I am still waiting to hear back from someone at the time of this review. I should also mention that they also offer a roadside assistance incentive but don't tell you till after that you need to first answer their survey and leave feedback which is positive before you will receive it. I am very disappointed with the overall experience and would never recommend them to any one, contrary to what I had submitted to get the free roadside assistance. read more

You know how Mike Holmes on HGTV exposes the rotten apples of the construction industry? Well, I think there should be an equivalent person who does that for the car repair industry. I am soooo beyond upset with Pointe West Collision but it's too late to do anything about it. To make a long story short, I purchased a car from the Birchwood group in 2003, within the first year, my new car was rear ended. I was fine for the most part but my car sustained close to $8,000 damages. So I took my car to Pointe West Collision because I purchased my car from the Birchwood group and figured, they are one of the biggest auto parks in the city so their collision centre must be experienced. WRONG! The trunk was not aligned and sealed properly so rain water started seeping into my trunk for a couple of years. I didn't notice until a musty smell made me investigate my car. I lifted up the trunk lining and saw a big pool of water was collecting at the below the spare tire compartment! I took it back to Pointe West and they supposedly resealed it for free because they probably knew what kind of crap job they did. So skip ahead to 2011 when I am trying to sell my car. The manager of this dealership (not Birchwood), looks at my car and proclaims that I have low mileage and have really maintained my car through the years BUT....then he starts to ask me about the history of the car. I told him about the major accident the car sustained. He runs the car through Car Proof https://www.carproof.com/home.aspx to get the vehicle's history (great site if you are buying a used car). So he sees the accident I mentioned and asks me "did you know that your car has a used bumper?" I was perplexed but he goes onto show me that Pointe West put a used red bumper and painted it to my car's colour. I can see the red bumper as he points out a tiny section that wasn't sprayed properly. He said that Pointe West should have given me a NEW bumper because my car had under 10,000 km and was barely a year old when it sustained the damage. So basically Pointe West ripped off MPI (and ultimately all of us who pay into MPI) because they charged MPI for a NEW bumper yet Pointe West gave me some random used bumper and made the difference! What shady liars they are! Then he continues to tell me all the problems associated with "repairs" that Pointe West had done: - paint colour was completely off - the trunk still wasn't aligned properly - the bumper wasn't set properly - rust that was developing in the rear quarter panel of my car; Pointe West had done such a piss poor job with quarter panel, the area is bubbling underneath and the rust will penetrate through after this winter season I felt like an idiot for not noticing all the issues (only the rust) but it's one of those things that you don't notice until someone points it out to you. So of course, the offer on my car was pretty low as a result of the crappy workmanship caused by Pointe West. I didn't sell to this guy and took my car to a friend who's in the auto repair business and he looked at my car and pointed out the same issues to me. So I know the guy at the dealership wasn't exaggerating the issues. So as a result of Pointe West's bad job, my car lost about $1,500 in value (a lot for a used car). Harsh lesson to learn years later and Pointe West will get away with it. The manager of the dealership that pointed out all the issues told me that large collision centres like Pointe West do not have well trained staff because they are such a large operation. Staff turnover is high so they basically hire anyone with a heart beat so the skill level is pretty low. He suggested that if you need work done, ask around and find places where repair staff are consistent and have years of experience. He said other large collision centres (not just Pointe West) tend to not have experienced staff. Lesson learned. He did note that Fort Rouge Autobody on Pembina does excellent body work and painting. I know that because I went to them for a recent repair. So that's my story, take it for whatever it's worth but I am never going back to Pointe West! read more

Terrible and rude, notified my appointment being cancel the day before. I have to book a day off from work and they cancel it less than 24 hrs before. No apology from the reception, she even asked me if I would bring repair somewhere else. I'll not give then my business anymore. Poor services. read more

The staff were kind, efficient and very helpful. The receptionist kept in touch with us on a daily basis to ensure we knew how things were progressing. In addition, the day we arrived the part had not arrived but she rushed the part through so we were not kept waiting. Great place! read more

Where to begin. As of today, we are at 8 and a half weeks my car has been in the shop for minor repairs due to a pothole. Strut, tie rod, all steering components..... repairs were being done by Birchwood collision centre in pointe west auto mall. Several times they dropped the ball, to the extent that the manager was personally involved in interactions with my repair. I assumed that all was well until today around 11. I figured that they were calling to postpone pick up of my vehicle, yet again. Nope. They crashed my car. He alleges that the hood latch and secondary latch failed, causing my car's hood to open and forcefully strike my vehicle. There is apparently an autopac claim (on my insurance, in his words) for them destroying my car. There was no attempt to make this right, nothing satisfactory. I am thoroughly disgusted with the misuse and disrespect of my vehicle during other interactions, and now they've crashed my car. I have had that car for the last year and a half and I know for a fact that the hood latch wasn't faulty, since I put about 40k KMs on the vehicle. It didn't stick, it didn't hesitate and it certainly did not release the hood while driving. Being a mechanic myself, I know that the hood most likely wasn't closed properly and wasn't checked prior to the test drive. This car was in the shop but was also my trade in for a newer vehicle that wouldn't be damaged to this extent from a pot hole. Now I am left flapping in the breeze while they play around and face no consequences for their derelict actions resulting in a loss of property. I want this resolved without legal ramifications. I'm a you broke it, you bought it kind of guy. I feel that they should absorb the total cost of my car and deal with whatever financial burden they incur because of their disregard for my property read more

Our vehicle was towed to Pointe West. MPI's estimate is around $6,000. Our vehicle is in their possession but did not issue us any courtesy car at all. HOW CAN WE PAY OUR DEDUCTIBLE WHEN WE CANNOT GO TO WORK!!! Plus, Grant who was a collision specialist is very rude and cannot provide us any solutions at all. Very poor customer service. I should have posted this years ago but didn't have the opportunity or either I just wanted to block the experience from my mind. Problem #1 I took my 1998 Chevy truck into Pointe West back in 2003 for vandalism and partial loss...stereo was stolen, amp stolen, paint and body damage on passenger door, and damage done to passenger seat reclining lever. Pointe West did a good job on the repair of body as well as paint. They fixed the minor damage done to the seat......BUT. And this is a huge BUT. The passenger seat slides forward and backward and does not lock into place anymore! It only locks when it is pushed all the way back but if you want it mid way, it won't lock. Huge safety issue because it almost acts like a catapult if I were to go from 60 to 0 in a split second. So I went back to Pointe West and explained the issue. They said that it was like that before. What??? So now they are telling me I don't know my own vehicle? I may have bought the truck used and only had the vehicle for less than a year at the time of repairs but I'm not stupid. This is my truck. Oh man I was furious. I've had dozens of passengers and never had issues with the seat previous to the repair. Even when the lever was broken, the seat was still locking in place. Pointe West was adamant that it was like that before the vandalism. I was stupified. I went to MPI and they were no help either. So I went back to the Pointe West they played around with the adjustment lever but didn't take it into the shop. Again, I got no where with them. Maybe it was damaged in the vandalism? Even if it was, my insurance should have covered it. But they didn't want to reopen my claim. I was so furious. Obviously they never put it back together correctly or wasn't aligned on the rails. I know what was working on my vehicle before I brought it to them and gave it back to me in worse shape (regarding the seat). I didn't know what to do. I was thoroughly dissapointed that they didn't work for me....the customer. I felt taken advantage of and I felt like they thought I was trying to take advantage of them. The treatment by the staff was ok. They were neither rude or pleasant. They just couldn't go that extra mile and take it apart, put back on its rails correctly, and send home with a smile. Problem #2 So you'd think I learned from my first experience right? Well I decided to give them another chance. I'm big on giving second chances. Whenever I screw up, I like to pull out the second chance card. In Fall of 2011, my truck got broken into again. I've armed my alarm every night for so long and the one night I forget and they got me. The thugs pryed the drivers side door latch and lock assembly and got into my truck, stealing more stereo stuff. So I take it to Pointe West. A few days later I get my truck back. Paint job looked great and the interior looked good. A couple weeks go by and its all good. One day I go to put my key to unlock the drivers side and the lock cylinder falls inside my door! What the??? So called Pointe West up and they took me in the following day (had to take a couple hours off work) and fixed it up. So a year and a couple months go by and it happened again! (Just this past weekend of writing this). This should never happen and it's happened twice in just over a year since the initial repair. The entire life of my truck never has the lock disappeared into the abyss of my drivers side door. Fine it happens once because it wasn't installed properly. People make mistakes I know that. But for it to happen a second time? They're not even good at fixing their own mistakes. Wow what a waste of time and huge inconvenience. I might just end up fixing myself. But the paint was good. I will say that I was pleased by the body work. That I will give to them. Even after several years, the repairs they have done so far haven't rusted yet. They are in a convenient location as Enterprise rental car is across the street but that's it. I was not pleased with how they dealt with my issue. This is one of the last places I would go to get work done. If you want paint and rust repair they do a good job. That's it. There are tons of body shops in Winnipeg and a lot of them stand by their work. In my experience the consultant and technicians at Pointe West did not stand by their work. Word of mouth goes a long way so ask your friends about other body shops. The larger body shops are a revolving door for technicians so the likely hood of getting an inexperienced person working on your vehicle if very likely. read more

I rarely give bad reviews but this time people should know about how this company operates. One bad user experience shared on this site is not enough. They were unprofessional, unresponsive, and no attention to detail. My car was not ready when promised and was not completely repaired. When I dropped off my car, they told me that they will inspect the vehicle for additional damage. I told them that after my appointment with MPI, I noticed that my front wheel rim was damaged in the collision so please make sure it gets added to the list. At the time they were 2 week old winter tires/rims. I prefer to deal directly with the people who are looking after my car so I wanted to speak to a mechanic, but the receptionist at the front desk assured that the information will get relayed to the mechanics, so I dropped off my car and away I went. I was told the repair would take about 3 weeks. A few days go by and I hear nothing from them so I call and spoke to "my service representation" who I thought was a trained mechanic. She informed me that there was considerable additional damage. When I asked if the wheel rim damage made it onto the list, I was given an indefinite answer and "another note was made". Another week or two goes by, and I call them. They tell me finally all the parts come in and they will start on my car asap. I ask about the wheel again, and again I get no definite answer - "I'll make a note of it". Another week and half go by (4 weeks) and my car is finally "ready" (at least according to their terms). I go pick it up after work and then meet my 'service rep' who turns out to be the receptionist at the front desk. Just before we go out to check out my car, she tells me that "btw she couldn't find the wheel damage". We went out and I showed her - I was pissed - apparently she misinterpreted my description of the damage. She even went on to saying - "I should have got you to show me the first time" I just shook my head thinking - "no duh". Why she kept the fact that she couldn't find the damage a secret from me is beyond me. So the claim process starts over again, and despite my car not being 100% complete, I was FORCED to drive my car away. A week later, the additional damage was approved and an appointment was made two weeks later. I brought my car in on Monday. How long does it take to replace ONE WHEEL? They told me the car should be ready for Tuesday pick up. Today is Wednesday Afternoon, the car is not ready and they can't guarantee me anything anymore. Turns out they have subcontracted this out to another shop who is busier than expected. What kind of body shop does not have the skill to replace a wheel? read more
