The station was run down and it was obvious it needed improving. Now West Bromwich Bus Station is a vast improvement from the old one. The new station has an information centre where you can get information on the different bus routes that operate within the Black Country and the West Midlands area. You can also get information on travelcards and fares. The buses that stop at West Bromwich Bus Station travel to various towns and cities in the West Midlands. There are buses that go to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley etc. The Bus Station is also opposite the West Bromwich Central Tram Station. National Express and Diamond buses operate at West Bromwich Bus Station. Waiting for buses can be a real nightmare and I have experienced times where I have waited half an hour for a bus during the daytime when they should be coming at least every ten minutes.

As a public transport user many stations are super cold and drafty despite new builds (see Walsall…read morebus station for a concrete nightmare). West Brom bus station is perfectly located with the central tram stop across the road and it's accessibility and connection to the central shopping area through Kings Square indoor shopping centre. For a change it s a station with great signage, an information centre and really usable display boards for all the buses. With buses to Walsall running regularly and it only taking 20/30mins it is one of the better transport connections. At least with all the glass corridor designs it is much warmer and weather resistant than more open plan stations and much easier to navigate between the stops even if you are down the one end as it's such an accessible bus station. If you find your self stuck here then there could be much worse places to end up.

And that includes from anywhere in Birmingham. The company is quite a lot smaller than most other firms in the city, and I think that adds a great friendly close knit vibe between all of the staff; You certainly get that experience when you're talking to the drivers anyway. Most of the rides home are kept entertaining and free of silence by the talkative drivers, who are great at making conversation. However, I have had a few disappointing encounters with this company. I was standing outside waiting for them for 45 minutes once, and the taxi didn't turn up. I kept ringing them back, but they said they were still on their way. In fact, the service name 'On Time' isn't suited to them at all really, and the company has often been quite late for me, and usually arrive within 20 minutes. I'd prefer them to pick me up in 10 minutes personally, because this is long enough to wait.

There is plenty to do but many of the activities are charged for. The cost of most activities is £1.50 each which I think is reasonable when you haven't had to pay to get in! There is a children's play area which is free of charge as well as beautiful walks around the large lake which is like being at the seaside. Boats are available to hire on both the small and large lakes. The small lake having kayaks suitable for most ages and the large lake offering sailing boats and motor boat rides as well as lessons. There are loads of ducks and swans on the lakes and they don't mind people. A cygnet came right up and let me take a picture of it! We walked along to the railway. We didn't go on the train but we defintely plan on going back to do so. The prices for the trains are really good (£8.45 for a family of 2 adults and up to 4 children for an all day ticket). There are a couple of nice cafes. We had a drink in Alfie's by the train station which is a bar and cafe. I was amazed (in a good way) that 2 large glasses of coke was just £2. The food prices were reasonable although we had taken a picnic so we didn't try the food! I could go on about this place forever. It's brilliant and if you don't want to do any of the activities, you won't have to spend anything if you don't want to! The only bad thing I found was that the toilets in the main bit weren't very nice and the only toilets with soap in were at the train station. There are plenty of toilets though so you don't have to come all the way back to the start just to go to the loo which is good!
