This was my first time at the Birmingham Farmer's Market. I appreciate all the precautions there were taking in light of the coronavirus pandemic: * drive-thru style service- you follow the line around the parking lot to visit each of the vendors in your car. No getting out of the car! If you are interested in their products, you stop and they will bring it to your car. If you are not interested, there is a passing lane on the right. * vendors are spaced out throughout the parking lot * everyone was wearing masks and nearly all were wearing gloves There is a sign right when you turn in to let you know which vendors are there that day, and then for the frequently purchased items, there is a sign to let you know which of the number booths have those items. Booths are ordered in the number that you would drive past them. Everyone was so pleasant, we got some incredible fruits and veggies and the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. Can't wait to come back next weekend! read more

This is a pretty nice Sunday market. Parking can be tricky if you get there later in the day but walking won't kill you! The market is situated on Old Woodward in a parking lot and wraps around the back of some businesses. They have a pretty nice turn out. The downside is that it is a bit pricey compared to some of the other local markets. This market has a few unique stands that I haven't seen elsewhere like the wacky waffle and Popsicle stand. However, there are a lot of produce stands to the point of being redundant. I mean how many people do you need competing to sell tomatoes? But it's an enjoyable experience. I recommend going early and beating the crowd. read more

This farmers market north of Harmon street is huge! There is plenty of free street parking on Old Woodward too. They have booth after booth of items to feast your eyes on and fill your bellies. The things today were: produce flowers (really big, healthy sunflowers) crafts prepared foods pastries and breads teas live entertainment This is a great way to start your Sunday. The farmers market runs from June 1 - October 26. It is every Sunday from 9 am - 2 pm. There is a sign that says No Dogs for health reasons, but like me, about a dozen other dog lovers had their pooches in tow. read more

Disappointing at best. So few vendors I feel sorry for the ones who put the effort in to come. The ones who are there are good, but the style of the set up is so spread out, it makes it feels strange and not at all like a farmers market. I live in town and don't know anyone who shops there. It's more of a novelty than an actual market. I think, no I know, Birmingham could do so much better. read more

We stopped in to the BFM this past Sunday. There was quite a bit of variety, but fewer vendors than I was expecting. There were also many booths that were more informational. Since I am from the west side of the state, I am more used to very large markets with a lot more produce to offer. It would have been nice if there had been more vendors of handcrafted or recycled/sustainable items. Overall it was a pleasant visit, and we left with fresh peaches, butternut squash, and scones. read more

I love coming to the Birmingham Farmers Market! Like others said, it is on the smaller side of things, but there are plenty of vendors to choose from. The always have a great selection of flowers and produce. My fiancé loves checking out the food trucks. Bring your pup with you! My dog loves exploring the farmers market, and vendors are excited to see her. read more

This is a small farmers market compared to others I've been to but I've never been let down here. I've had the gnocchi pasta, the pasta sauce, popcorn and their flowers....which is what led me to this review. We purchase flowers from the sunflower place which is Reinhardts flowers...I believe they come from Grand Rapids-some of the kindest people there and the flowers are a great price and beautiful! I love love love this florist-if it was the florist alone, they'd get a 5! $10 for this bouquet-unreal and I love!!!!! read more

Rode my bike here today from Royal Oak to pick up some corn. This was my first time here. I was surprised at how much produce there actually was, because I had heard that there isn't that much here. There were many stands offering a variety of fruit and vegetables as well as other cool stuff - a vegan baked goods stand, popcorn, Frank's hot dog truck (which is a repurposed vintage VW van - so cool!), lemonade, flowers and more. I've been to Eastern Market, Royal Oak's and now Birmingham's. I liked Birmingham's a lot and feel that it measures up to the others. I like that it is all outside and not covered at all. I had heard really good things about the Birmingham market, so maybe my expectations were too high...but I wasn't impressed in the least. Everyone told me it was smaller, but the quality of everything was really high. After visiting this weekend, however, I must say it's not nearly as good as the nearby Royal Oak Market. This past Saturday we weren't able to make it to Royal Oak for our fruits and veggies, so we were happy to have an excuse to go to the Sunday market in Birmingham. When we arrived, I instantly noticed that it was smaller and not in a permanent location (it's in a parking lot on the north side of town)...this was fine, as long as the quality and variety was high. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Quite literally 3/4 of this market is not really farmer's market (ie. not farmers or farm goods). A large bulk of it is prepackaged and prepared foods (bbq sauce, bagged pasta, etc) while another bunch of booths are crafts and art-fair type stuff. Out of the 30 booths that were there, only about 7-8 were actually farms. This was a big minus for me instantly. I came here to buy fresh goods, not prepackaged stuff I could get at a store. After perusing the farm tables, only 2 of them were organic and they were, by far, the smallest tables there. They each were selling about 4-5 items...none of which looked good enough to interest me. Contrast this with Royal Oak where the couple of organic growers have TONS to choose from. The traditional growers here were so so, and we bought a few things from them. Luckily what we came for (chicken from John Henrys) was available, so it wasn't totally a lost trip. To be honest, I don't think I'd make this trip again. It's quite a drive for us and it just didn't have the quality or variety I expected. read more

I think the people that like this particular "market" so much are those who have never been to any other one, such as Royal Oak. The fact that there is little fresh produce is a huge bummer. It is, after all, called a farmers market. Like some of the other reviewers mentioned, many of the tables were bath products and baked goods. read more

Simply wonderful true Farmers market. I was pleasantly surprised at the array of fresh fruit, veggies as well as meats and eggs. I made several purchases but the fresh (picked that day) corn was my favorite. They have it roasting next door and you can buy an ear to eat while you browse ---- I for sure ate corn ate 10 am! I also really like the humus and Mediterranean booth. Picked up some hummus, garlic dip and eggplant dip, all are amazing! The fresh apple cider donuts and fresh squeezed lemonade were great! I would Iike to see more places to get "breakfast" places. A crepe stand would be absolutely amazing!! read more

This Market is great. It has everything you'd expect in a upper class small town farmers market. There are several booths of produce, including heirloom and grape tomatoes, tiny eggplants, zucchini, mushrooms, etc. etc. There are price differences among the booths, so that your eggplant may be twice as expensive as the eggplant two tables over. They also have cider and donuts, sweet corn on the cob, fresh pressed lemonade, and a burger food truck. Overall the variety of offerings was quite impressive for such a small market, and the place was full of Birminghamites. That may be the only downside. It is a lot to handle. Parking can be difficult, but it turns over. Totally worth a visit! read more

This market has a lot to offer -- a juice bar, donuts, flowers, and a brunch food truck in addition to their fruits, veggies, and patisserie. It was fun to walk through and in a beautiful setting. Even better was the live music playing! Some prices were higher than other markets but within reason. The bread and produce we purchased has been absolutely delicious. We have been coming to the Farmers market here for the last 4 years & this weekend was our first time this year.It seems smaller than years past & it was never very large & at this time of the year there just isn't a lot of local stuff. Very disappointing. read more

I really liked this place! Its was a smaller market but they virtually everything. I think I had the best hot dog of my life from one of the vendors. Its by the blue truck called Franks something or others. Great hot dog!! I used the relish from McClures! Dogs are allowed and welcome! Parking is free on Sundays. They also have a person doing balloons for kids and live entertainment. read more

Had another great trip this Sunday! Saw the "Queen Bean" again at Biggbys, she was great like before! Saw a few new vendors this trip, Nellies natural soap, how can you resist the sweet Penelope goat's picture! Tracina's was giving samples of ther ricotta Gnocchi, yummy! My dog Nalla enjoyed the Nahnees Nibbles dog treats and the meals looked delicious too! John Henrys summer sausage made it into my purchase bag as well! Kudos to the farmer with the roasted corn, it was awesome! Visited a few other markets over the week but have to say this is my favorite! See you all Sunday! read more

We have been to the Birmingham Farmers Market several times and have enjoyed it each and every time. Just be prepared for the parking (which is understandbly congested). Its dog friendyly, which is great and there is a variety of things to buy! read more

I think this market is great. For those who compare it to Royal Oak, its not the same. There's not really the space, and Birmingham is just simply a smaller city. I think there is a wonderful variety of vendors. I live within walking distance of this farmers market and being able to just walk out the door and pick up some flowers and fresh fruits and veggies is just awesome. Sometimes driving and trying to find parking in Royal Oak on a Saturday morning and shuffle through the mass crowds of their farmers market can be highly annoying. I hope this Birmingham farmers market continues to expand and offer its residents this great venue. read more

While not as large as the Royal Oak market, the Birmingham farmer's market offers a great selection of produce and locally made food and goods. It has convient access as parking is free in Birmingham on Sundays. For the comment regarding limited produce, not much is ready in the garden until summer gets going unless it comes from afar or can grown in a hot house. read more

While the actual fruit and vegetable stands are very good, the AMOUNT of actual fruit and vegetable stands are very few. If I want bath products, I'll go to a store for that. If I want doggie treats, I'll go to a pet store for that. Same thing with tattoo art, face painting and horse rides. Likewise, if I want to hear music, it will be my choice of music, not their awful "music" that one is forced to listen to. MOST annoying though is that they have live VERY LOUD frustrated "musicians" (sorry, folks - but this experience is supposed to be about good, fresh food, not "Jimmy Hendrix wannabees"), that made me want to just hurry up and get out of there so I didn't have to listen to the noise anymore! Parking is a JOKE. I witnessed two different incidents of "adults" shouting obscenities at each other - all over one stupid parking space. Birmingham and the general public would be better served if they just moved it to Shane Park, which has a whole LOT more parking and is closer to the police station. I would REALLY like to see more actual local fresh food booths at the Birmingham Farmer's Market. Royal Oak's is superior to this one and their prices are MUCH lower. read more

I have been to a few farmer's markets in my day, but never had I been to this one. My sister lives near by and asked me to go with her. I had a nice time, everyone seemed friendly. If you do go, you must get your corn from a particular vendor that my sister has been raving about all summer. Their farm is "Kutchey" and they have wonderful sweet corn! She was right, it was amazing! And the two Kutchey guys were very friendly and helpful! But in all honesty, I would recommend this place for sure. read more

Actually a decent, not expansive, selection of fresh fruits, flowers, and vegetables. There are also some handmade arts and crafts, and pre-made food items, as well as an antique VW hot dog van. Right in the neighborhood, but the biggest drawbacks are that it's open for several hours on Sunday only, and it's not the largest farmer's market around. Despite the limited hours, some of the vendors don't even stay the entire time. Parking can be an issue at times as well. An extra star for location only. read more
