This was my first time trying this birria place. The service was actually very fast I think I waited maybe 10-15 minutes after I ordered my food. The food was very authentic and delicious. The only reason I will be rating this place a 3 and not a 4 star is because the table I was sitting in was extremely sticky. I had to set paper napkins on the table to feel slightly comfortable. I've been wanting to try this place and finally got the chance. Mouth drooling tacos. I travel a lot and these are the BEST tacos in Vancouver, WA. They have birria fries which are delicious but my fave is their pastor fries. Their birria is not greasy . The lady who took my order was very sweet. Make sure you get a churro . They're the best I've had. They had a little cinnamon cream inside which is unique and oo so good. A bit pricey for a churro $3 but worth it. Maybe they can offer a bundle 2/$5 option. What would be nice is if they converted the two blocked off parking spots with red tables into an enclosed seating for guests to eat/wait. This specific location is not my favorite, I never get any pickled onions or lots of veggies in general here. I used to love their birria tacos & while I still do think they're yummy, I find it's not worth the price anymore. Their prices have gone up & somehow the tacos have gotten smaller. I also have gotten some regular tacos here & they weren't all that great either, barely any cilantro or onions. Service has been mid lately. The person working has a rude tone sometimes & doesn't seem friendly at all & I don't know if he's aware but will slam the window very hard in our faces. I don't expect to be chatted up like I'm at a Dutch Bros or anything but just some common decency would be better. The horchata is good, definitely better than most places I've had but not the best either. This cart is in a weird part of town by this sketchy looking building. Really excited for B PDX to open a new location in Happy Valley. I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since they first opened on SE Division a few years back. I wanna even say I drove over 20 mins to that location several times in their first month of service before they got crazy popular. Shortly lines became 30-75 mins in rain or shine back then. The new location has ample parking and only 2 picnic tables. Food was solid as always. I love birria tacos so much...and while other spots might have better consume or better birria, I feel like Birrieria PDX is the best in terms of total package. I'm lactose intolerant but I always make it a point to get one of their cheese tacos (queso taco, spider, keto, mulitas, etc). In fact once you add cheese to the birria I think they are the best in town hands down. Their cheese variations are far superior to others I've had in town and I think I've gone to maybe 6 other places for birria. It was the first time I've had the pastor here and it was good. Their asada was just fine for me but I think I'll be continuing to going to a different truck nearby when I have the asada craving. I'm so glad they are so close, and I'll be a regular here. Not recommended. From the moment we arrived, the attitude was really bad. We were the only ones there, and they were still rushing us like they had a huge line behind us. We didn't even have time to look at the menu calmly. We ordered quesatacos, a quesabirria, and a consomé. Anyone who eats birria knows the consomé is the main part of the whole meal. They took forever to prepare the food even though we were the only customers, and on top of that, they forgot the consomé. We live 22 minutes away, so we called. Instead of helping, the first thing they asked was if the order was from Uber or DoorDash, kind of hinting that maybe it got "lost." We told them no, we were there in person. Their response was that we could come back that same day or the next to pick it up. We asked if they could at least add a quesabirria for the inconvenience. The person said the only thing they could give was a taco that was literally the size of my index finger, super tiny, and they said it laughing. It felt very unprofessional. In the end, we didn't even want to go back for the consomé because the whole experience was already ruined. They really need to work on their customer service. Mistakes happen, but the attitude and how you go above and beyond is what makes the difference. We won't be returning. read more

Having lived in California for a long time, we love birria tacos. We've had fun finding different places in Portland that serve them and trying them out. These were not bad. They weren't as flavorful as some others we have experienced, but definitely better than some places that just served regular beef tacos drenched in oil that they called birria. To get it right, you have to grind up the roasted chilis and stew the meet properly. At $15. the sampler platter was a little overpriced. If you buy it on a weekend, the price goes down to $12.50, which is a better value. The sampler platter has five items: a small street taco, a taco with cheese, one mulita, one vampiro and consume. If you are new to birria tacos, this is a good choice so that you can sample the different varieties. The street taco was tiny and a little unfulfilling. But the other three birria items were good. The vampiro was really good. The do a good job of making it crispy. We found their consomme to be pretty good. It was rich and flavorful and not over salted. It had nice chunks of meat and onions. But there were also some fat chunks laced in. That's normal, but we prefer the consomme with leaner meat. One item that they have on their menu that we don't see often is the machete. We tried it and found it to be pretty good. It's like a birria quesadilla, except that instead of using a flour tortilla, it's on masa. It had a lot of meat and cheese in it. We have a bunch of other taco birria places to try before we can decide which is our favorite. We're looking forward to trying them all. I never heard of Birrieria until I asked for recommendations from a good friend, having left the 2010 Portland scene and finally coming back to enjoy some of the foodie highlights. Not knowing what to expect, I ordered the PDX sampler and three tacos. IMO the sampler is exactly what it sounds like: a sample of good items, including quesa taco, regular taco, consome, and others. You cannot go wrong with the classic tacos. The quesa takes things up a notch with a generous layer of cheese. Try dipping the tacos in the consome (a soup they can be sipped upon or used as a sauce). All the fixings are great. Beets and lime are excellent for cleaning your palette. No salsa verde here, just red hot (start with the mild sauce). The chefs prepared all the beef well, so expect rich, savory flavor with a perfect texture. Despite enjoying Birrieria a lot, I still found the dishes to be pretty one dimensional in terms of flavor. But it really was delicious, and the varieties in which they can use the ingredients in different forms (tacos, torta, etc) add a certain novelty to the dining experience. Then we got in line, and a few minutes went by, then there were 20 people behind us. Clearly a popular food spot. The consommé to dip all the items in the sampler were awesome. This was new to me and I am so here for it. I drove across town for it and was so happy I did. The horchata was delicious all the way through. The bottom of the cup was pretty thick and I wasn't mad at all. We ordered way too much food, but that's so good when there's leftovers. We got the sampler, torta, crunchwrap, ramen, and horchata. The ramen was slightly different than ramen I've had before, and the addition of the meat was delicious. I love lime, and pickled red onion. The ramen was just ok so I would skip it next time. Eveything else was awesome. We will be back for more tacos, vampiros, and crunch wraps. For. Sure. Definitely plan on a wait but well worth it. The only critique I have is technical. The consommé cup was small which is didn't quite sit in the cup holders so it spilled because the lid popped off in the car. The cup lid didn't have a seal so there was also an open hole at the top. This food truck is nestled at the corner of highway 99 and 99th Street. It is close to where I live, and on the way back from work. I was excited when it first opened. I was craving some good Mexican food since I lived in the southwest a few years, but options are limited in Vancouver. The first day it opened, it was bustling. Since then, the crowd has died down to some degree, but there is usually a steady stream of people there. I went with a couple friends and I think my dish was the best. I got the sample taco platter, and although I am bad at discerning each individual meat and flavor, all of them were excellent. They were all well seasoned, with garnishes. My other friends got the birria ramen, which I heard was decent in terms of flavors. The loaded fries were also decent. Another friend got one of the burritos, and she was okay with the meal. Definitely, the sampler platter is a good first go to. The ramen was an interesting novelty item, but honestly you may as well get the full taco experience instead. I love this place! Really good Birria. I get the Quesabirria and my best friend got the Birria Fries. If you don't like Onion, ask for none in the fries as it's a lot. My only "complaint" of personal preference is we ate in the car, so the rim of Chamoy and Tajin on the Pina was a bit messy, it got everywhere. Birria is a labor of love. I make it, all my family member do, but unless you are having a big gathering, the time to prepare it is not really worth it. Having a local place make it correctly and have fair prices, YES PLEASE! First off, I have to rag on the customers a little bit.........there is a flippin' cow and pictures all over the cart.....even if you cant read....it is beef. I arrived with only 2 people in front me for the line, that is a massive win! The 1st lady was like "is there some other kind of meat?" and the second guy was like "oh, I don't eat meat". I do not work there so I exercised my right to roll my eyes hard enough to crack my skull and sigh like it was my last exhale, but the staff was above and beyond gracious to both of these customers. The staff saved both sales, encouraged the vegetarian to get a quesadilla with no meat and told the other one that it is all beef, but the best in her life so she should really get it and she did. The wait is what got me. I know folks were waiting when I got there, but I would say the average wait is 20 minutes. I only had 5 tacos and a consume, but my wait was 30 minutes. While I was waiting I saw 3 customers bring their items orders back for correction or to address missing items.....even the vegetarian was given beef on his cheese quesadilla. Very flavorful consommé and quesabirria tacos! We ended up getting a crunchwrap as well. The Crunchwrap was absolutely enormous. Enough to feed two regular people. It was stuffed with birria, rice, beans, and it looked like some flaming hot cheetos. It needed some of the mild salsa to add flavor, but otherwise was fantastic. Once I got it to a more manageable size, I was able to dip it into the consommé. Highly recommend doing that. Quesabirria tacos were amazing. We arrived a few minutes before noon (a good call if you don't want to wait in line). The customer ahead of us had ordered ahead (mental note for next time). Our order-taker was friendly and helpful. We loved that there are pictures and prices right on the truck (much easier to order). We paid and were handed a beeper, then waited in the car to stay warm. They had good COVID precautions in place: Order pick-up is at a different window (nice!), and they have you place your silenced beeper in a "used" bucket for disinfecting later (nice!). Also they have "X" marks in line for social distancing. There's covered seating available that looked clean and well-ventilated. This cart is a little different from other other amazing Birrieria in the area in that 1) it's open on Tuesdays, and 2) consumme is a separate order ($3 for a small, which is a mini-meal in itself. ) Regular birria tacos are $3. They have "keto" tacos available, or you can go the "quesataco" route if you swing the other way. As you may or may not be aware but Portland is experiencing a Birria renaissance. The top spots in Portland were just featured in Willamette Weekly. Birrieria PDX is one of the those places. I made my way out to deep southeast from NOPO to try them. I came for the Birria Ramen which did not disappoint. If you ever had a Mexican Beef Soup, this is alot like it except it is submerged with ramen noodles. Never quite had this mash up before and it was quite good. Real depth of flavor and the noodles were cooked just right. They even tell when they hand it to you to wait a couple of minutes for the noodles to finish warming up. I also tried the Quesataco which was also very good. Service was quick and friendly. I would make a trip here again and try some of their other menu items especially the Birria En Caldo.
