Really good Mexican food service and a great lunch, I would highly recommend this restaurant

Very authentic and delicious! Best Mexican food I've had in Portland by far. The service was great, extremely friendly. They were attentive and patient. The food was quick to come out aswell. There's a covered outdoor seating area with heaters. It has lots of space. I got a wet burrito and as you can see it was delicious.

Plaza Coyoacan is still a favorite for me and my family! Everyone can find something to like on the menu, with options for vegans/vegetarians, kids, and all spice level tolerances. They are so welcoming if you are dining in, and they package takeout well if you are getting a to-go order like I did most recently.

Amazing experience! Staff is very friendly and explains dishes if needed. Gorgeous seating area and the food is top notch! I was craving chilaquiles and they delivered! Great way to start a day of shopping and people watching on Hawthorne!

We came hungry. The food did not disappoint. We got a burrito bowl, carne asada plate, and a burrito. The chips came with salsa, and guacamole. Everything was so yummy. Even the water was good and cold. The servers were super nice and friendly. You felt like they knew you as a friend. The mural on the walk was beautiful making the ambiance perfect. Even a peaceful fountain. The entire experience was amazing. Even the bathroom was clean A very good evening meal.

Great service and amazing margarita. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the breakfast burrito. The added beans made it a bit sloppy and felt like a filler. I'd go with something else next time! Definitely try the tamales though, they were great! I'll be back to try other menu items!

Walked in here after the movies. Quesadilla was delicious, lemonade was so perfect and the guac was amazing. Pocolé was really tasty as well as the horchata! Lots of seating and staff was very nice! Definitely coming back!

Chile Relleno...the food here is awesome

Of my nearly 1800 reviews, Mexican food is my most reviewed category. The best Mexican food in Portland is difficult to name as there are so many variations: guisado-style, Tex-Mex, Yucatan, etc. Yet Plaza Coyoacan quickly comes to mind as a Top 3 overall venue. First, the interior space from color scheme, artwork, presentation, and hand written signage are charming. Even the water has a nice touch as it's infused with lemon and mint. And there's ample NON-bottled drink choices to complement your meal. Their attention to detail is noticeable. The chicken for the tacos is marinated, then shredded. The tortillas a cut above, maybe homemade. The Chile Relleno is just shy of that from Salsas Locas: it's bathed in a scrumptious thick orange-color sauce. The pinto beans are also a better than average: not watery and an ample portion. One of their marquee items, the Mole Bowl, satisfied a healthy choice craving. The guacamole and cheese breakfast burrito was excellent! I skipped the beans as they don't belong. The only slight negative is that it's small, so it probably won't satisfy if that's all you're ordering. This isn't a cheap iceberg lettuce, #2 gringo special kinda place. It isn't Westside Mexican. The menu is elevated and one I look forward to continue working.

Specials board! Ceviche... blue corn quesadilla!!

Plaza Coyoacan is perfects. Super friendly counter service, extensive n/a drinks menu, (long margaritas list too), excellent ambiance's the sunny enclosed patio with plants takes you far away from the fact that your eating right on Hawthorne. Excellent location, oh and the food rocks. Great chips, salsa and 2 hot shaves served with your meal. Orange one kicks, it's great, I loved my dinner (Carnitas Flautitas Doradas ) and I'm excited to come back to try the other offerings!

Found this place on yelp during our road trip to Canada and it was really good. I had the poblano enchiladas and I highly recommended.

Very good food. Nice service. The storefront setting does not distract from the delicious dishes and friendly staff.

Great flavors, reasonable portions, and friendly service. This is the kind of place that makes you want to return and try more dishes.

What is the noise level? Some people wear hearing aids.

I don't remember it being noisy at all. We had a very comfortable conversation.

A name that gets tossed around like gospel in Portland: ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria. You walk in and it hits you not just the smell, but the story. Colors that don't ask permission. Walls that feel alive. It's loud, packed, a little chaotic... the way a good place should be. This isn't fast food. This is a commitment. You might wait. You probably will. Go early if you're smart. But if you land a booth, if you carve out that space and settle in it pays you back. Yeah, it's not cheap. Let's not pretend. But you're not here for cheap you're here for something with a pulse. Something with character. Plates come out looking like they mean something. Not overdone, not pretentious just honest, thoughtful, and damn good. The kind of food that doesn't need explaining. Service? Dialed in. Friendly without the script. They move like they've done this a thousand times, because they have. And they still care. And the vibe? This is Portland in its natural habitat. Funky, a little weird, unapologetically itself. The kind of place where you look around and realize yeah, this is why people fall in love with this city. So yeah, throw it on your list.
