I first discovered the Pregnancy Resource Center in October of 2015 at one of their mobile clinics they offer. I found out I was 9 weeks pregnant with my son and was informed that they also provide classes for parenting and bible study. I started going to both the parenting and bible classes that same week and I have been coming back ever since! The classes they offer really helped my husband and I prepare for baby. We learned everything from pregnancy, labor&delivery, and even how to care for our son after. The staff is absolutely amazing and they really take into consideration and cater to your needs and situations. The Bible class is actually one of my favorites to attend, with a positive atmosphere and friendly faces surrounding you. For each class taken, you can receive "baby bucks" which allow you to purchase items that you may need from the boutique. It's a small store you can get items that you'll need for baby and/or you. Everything from diapers and wipes, clothes, toys, blankets, even maternity clothes for yourself, you name it! And they even have a separate room where they keep the larger items like cribs, swings, bouncers, etc. Everything in the shop is donated and is usually in excellent condition, very lightly used. And they are always getting newer items coming in weekly. The resource center itself also offers a number of services including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, etc. My son is now 16 months old and I honestly am so grateful for the Pregnancy Resource Center. I received so much help, support, and advice from them that have truly made me a better person, parent, and friend. The staff has always been wonderful to us, and I'm forever appreciative. Kayti allowed me to be in active pushing for over 4 hours and expressed no concerns. My family pulled her aside on two occasions expressing their concerns regarding the prolonged time and belief that my baby was in jeopardy. Kayti insisted that it was completely safe for me to continue pushing. My family had to intervene and call 911 against her recommendation to get me to the hospital. Upon arrival, the hospital team catheterized within seconds. Kayti and team tried to do a catheterization multiple times at home and were unable to do so. My delivery and its aftermath revealed multiple critical health concerns which were related to a high stress prolonged birth: my baby's cord blood showed excess acidity, indicating high stress levels and posing a risk of brain damage; my baby's glucose levels were low, requiring 24 hours of monitoring; and my baby had difficulty regulating his body temperature, dropping as low as 94 degrees Fahrenheit, necessitating placement under a heating lamp. All these complications relate directly to a stressful and mismanaged labor.

She was the first Midwife and the only midwife I called to interview. I instantly knew that she was going to be my midwife. The prenatal care that I had with Kayti was remarkable. My appointments with her were more than clinical. My husband and my toddler were able to come to the appointments. I truly felt that Kayti listened to everything I had to say. She really got to know me as a whole person medically and personally. Which is really needed when you are planning an intimate home birth. During my labor Kayti and her student, Amy were there for me every step of the way. I was never scared at any point of the birth. I put all my trust in them and felt supported the entire time. This says a lot because my labor was over 48 hours and I ended up transferring to the hospital because baby did not want to descend into my pelvis. I believe that Kayti did everything she could for me and my baby boy. When she told me that we needed to transfer. I knew it was the right decision. Even then, I felt like my baby and I were safe. We then transferred to the hospital and Kayti stayed with me and advocated for me until I had to go back for a cesarean. Post natal care was just as amazing. Since I did not get to have the birth that I had planned at home, Kayti planned a rebirth and a bone closing ceremony for me at my home at our last meeting together. That was exactly what I needed emotionally and spiritually. This just shows how thoughtful and loving Kayti is. My baby boy didn't come into this world as expected, but it was his own unique story and Kayti was apart of this unforgettable experience. I am forever grateful for her and Amy.

My OBGYN wanted me to have an ultrasound to compare to my last ultrasound visit (non ob). Christina was very thorough from the moment she greeted me to the very moment we were done. They were ready for me the moment I walked in for my appointment. I did all the pre-check in stuff, in the application, and then clicked the "I'm here now" feature. It actually worked (sometimes in the past it hasn't worked in the application) My appointment was for a specific time and the application gave a notice to be there 15 minutes prior. It somehow switched that it was 20 minutes prior & I'm not sure why that was. ?? I come prepared for these types of visits anyway & that cuts down changing in & out of my wardrobe times. It all went smoothly and I so appreciate that. My OBGYN & team is great here too. She deserves her own review!

Until this year, the word "midwife" conjured up thoughts of home-births and natural remedies…read more.. old women coming out to your house in the middle of nowhere and helping you birth your 10th child on the dusty wooden floors of your cabin. Call me ignorant, but I had no idea that midwives work in hospitals too, alongside doctors, and are capable of doing pretty much everything a doctor can do (aside from a c-section). I happened to see Sally at my first visit after discovering I was pregnant because Scripps Coastal OBGYN always books a patient's first visit with a midwife instead of a doctor. Sally spent a TON of time with me that day, answering all my questions and showing me a level of care and patience that I'd never received from a doctor before. I chose to see Sally going forward instead of one of the doctors and it was a GREAT decision. Scripps Coastal OBGYN requires that you do see a doctor once every trimester, so I had a good comparison between appointments with Sally and appointments with a doctor. They were entirely different. Doctors are rushed. They see more patients, have less time, and don't really care too much to get to know you. Sally was the complete opposite. She never rushed our appointments and really seemed to care about me as an individual. At delivery, it seems typical for doctors to let nurses do all the work and pretty much just stop by to catch the baby, but Sally was with me for at least the last hour of me pushing. She was encouraging, calm, and patient. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! After delivery, she stopped by my hospital room on three different occasions to check in on me. I simply can't say enough good things about Sally Lang. If you are considering Scripps OBGYN for your pregnancy and birth, I highly recommend that you make an appointment with her before you decide to go with one of the doctors.

The best, I repeat, the best midwife I could have found…read more I gave birth 8 days ago at Scripps Encinitas and Sally has been there for me these 9 months. From my very first prenatal visit, Sally has been ever smiling and the experience has always been pleasant. She answered all our questions patiently, every single visit, and let me tell you, my husband asks an awful lot of questions. I was having issues with putting on weight during my pregnancy and she helped me resolve the issue with her guided expertise. She has pleasant manners and her staff and nurses have been a great support too. If she was on her weekly off on the days I called the office with queries and concerns, she always made sure to call me back to check on me the very next day even though the queries were always answered the same day by other midwives or nurses on duty. On the day of my delivery, she was encouraging, calm and patient throughout my 1.5hrs of pushing and helped me have a vaginal delivery. If you get Sally as your midwife, I can bet you are in safe hands. Also, Sally's "Hello you guys, how are we doing today?" will ring in my ears for years to come because that greeting instantly can calm a nervous pregnant woman.

They also invest in proper development and really take the time to make sure your child is on track. Front desk is so helpful with booking appointments and any account management. My daughter hates the doctor (as most 2 year olds do lol) and this was the first time she didn't cry once at a doctor's visit! I brought my little one in because she had a bad cough and low grade fever. From the very beginning Dr. Neves was incredibly kind, gentle and incredibly patient with my daughter. I have felt rushed in the past with her previous pediatrician. She also was very prompt. My daughter warmed up to her immediately because Dr. Neves let her play with her ear scope and even had a couple toys in her lab coat pockets! My daughter really liked that Dr Neves let her use the tools on her first before she examined my daughter. She was incredibly thorough and in order for her to check my daughter's lungs she had a pinwheel in the exam room and had my daughter blow on it to make it spin. I was SUPER impressed by that (I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years!). She also had to do a throat culture and I thought for sure my little one would cry but she was so gentle and fast it was over quick! Then when the exam was all over my daughter got a Cinderella sticker (everyone with a toddler knows stickers are a big deal). I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Neves!!

Had my MRI images faxed over to them and 'Beverly' said their doctors would have to review them and then follow up with a call to make an appointment. This was weeks ago. Nobody ever followed up with me or even got back to me to say this wasn't doable, whatever. I couldn't be more firm in leaving one star.
