Deb does an awesome job of talking about what has changed in the medical field, new best practices, and also facilitates great group discussion. There's no such thing as a silly question in her class. :-) She takes time out to do a tour of St Peter's Hospital and the hospital in olympia. The tour is great because you get to see the birthing centers and/or the rooms that you'll be in. You also get to meet and greet with some of the medical staff that work there. One of the things that stood out for us was that we also got to handle some of medical equipment that will be used during your birth or C-section. While we were looking at all the different types of equipment she was explaining what they're used for in general, the risk to Mom and or baby, and also what the hospital may do in the event of emergency. The videos that she showed during the course we're also very informative and up-to-date.. not like the outdated ones there's a lot of other places show. We found the resources that she gives to be super helpful as well. I actually ended up reaching out to her after the class to find out where I could find additional pumping equipment at the hospital didn't have. She replied within of short period of time and referred me to a store that had exactly what I was looking for. She was a lifesaver. One of the things that my husband said he greatly appreciated was that she also goes over the coaches roles and responsibilities during the birth, gives tips and suggestions for them, but also takes time to recognize what they're going through to. So often it's all about the mom that we tend to forget the coaches are also going through the birthing experience as well. If w could give more than five stars we totally would!!!

The endless cycle of breastfeeding and pumping bordered on grueling. I was anxious, irritable and found it hard to sleep (although I was exhausted!). Enter Doula Deb, who helped us mostly with overnight care so we could get the restorative sleep we desperately needed. Deb was calm, caring, supportive, reliable and positive. She listened and provided us with information, baby-care tips and encouragement. With her watching over and helping care for our daughters (and us!) in the wee hours, I felt like I could finally exhale. I'm a practicing birth doula who met Lizz and Elliott years ago in a professional setting, and knew after watching them first hand that they were the midwives I wanted when it was my turn. They held me through the great mystery of pregnancy and when we learned that my baby was breech and my plan for a homebirth was no longer in the cards, Lizz and Elliott offered me the support I deeply needed to feel confident and at peace moving forward with a sacred planned cesarean birth. I'll never forget our sweet third trimester visits looking at my son on ultrasound and marveling that he loved being head up. This tone of celebration and acceptance of how things were unfolding and my informed decision to belly birth absolutely led to me having an empowered birth experience, free of trauma and regret, full of the oxytocin that good midwifery care facilitates. I continued my follow-up support with them once I returned home from the hospital, something that was important to me when I decided to work with community midwives. Because of everything we learned in her class, we were able to have the birthing experience we had hoped for :) As a Le Leche League leader, she was also very helpful after our little one arrived and we were having a little trouble getting the hang of breast feeding. We just completed a 3 week Great Start series with Chevy Geech at Parent Trust's Montlake Terrace…read morelocation and were really happy! The course was extremely comprehensive, over 3 Saturday's from 9am - 2.30pm with a total of 40 minutes of breaks throughout the day. Along with the Penny Simkin book, you are given materials and contacts throughout the course to help - all of which were fantastic. The content of the course covers everything from early labor right the way through to diaper changing. Chevy was a fantastic teacher who knows how to interact with a class well and keeps everyone active and interested for the 5.5 hour sessions - an incredible feat in and of itself! :) Each of the series culminates with a reunion that takes place once all the babies are born. We just wrapped up our series today, but will be gathering again in January to meet everyone again with their +1's (babies!) We can't wait! If you are looking for a reputable, accredited and well planned out course to take regarding childbirth and the pre and post stages as well.

Warehouse was huge and she did have a great sale. Her items are pretty fuffy and expensive to say the least. I looked at a small wooden jewelry box that would have normally been a maximum of $25 at any antique shop. She wanted $1250 for it. Even when you take 80% off that it is ridiculous. She overcharges for everything. She may have nice products but not many can afford them.
