I have taken her infant massage class, had an in house coaching (baby proofing) and have used her online coaching (lifesaver for a family on the go). Orly and I took her infant massage class. I learned about baby wearing, bonding and infant massage just to name a few things. This technique helped me bond with Orly - we created a nightly routine that involved 20 minutes of massage. It helped her become aware of her body at such a young age and started us on a wonderful wind down routine. I have used different strokes when she was sick, teething, after shots and many other applications. I was very nervous that once Orly started moving that my house would look like a toddlers paradise. Rachel came over and we went through each room talking about the safety issues and what we could do to maintain our space and let Orly have space in it. I feel very confident that Orly is welcome and a part of my home. She is safe and have lots of learning opportunities (barstools, fish tank, and having safe kitchen tools in places she can access. It's true that years ago the front desk gal wasn't very organized or friendly, and I have had to play phone tag with her insurance guy a few times. But honestly there's ALWAYS delays in medical insurance, and I've had way worse problems at other doctors' offices. The medical field is just a tad disorganized overall. BUT, they've upgraded to a well organized, quirky woman for the front desk. I've been through several insurance providers over that time and our coverage has varied but I've kept going to Nature Family Medicine even if it means paying a little more out of pocket. All in all, Dr. Falanga is a very talented Naturopath and if you're looking for a good one, definitely check her out!

I was pregnant with my first baby this summer, and Dr. Kundacina was brought in the room to assess why baby wasnt descending after hrs of pushing. She never introduced herself, came to my bedside or even asked how I was. In a dimly litroom, I had no idea where she was in relation to my body, and without verbal cue or counting, shoved her entire hand in my vagina mid push during a contraction. I immediately clammed up and she continued to try getting her hand in. Never once asked why I clammed up or began shaking immensely after this, instead told me to "relax your legs and bottom" over and over. There was no emotional support, coaching to help relax, or assess my mental well being after this. That was the first if many violations during a really long, sad labor. Violations to my body continued from many providers, with no apology or care for me as a person. Please don't see this provider if you are wanting compassionate or trauma informed care. I only saw midwife Ariel at this location. I respected her input, until I read my discharge notes. The wording she used was one step away from 1959's calling women hysterical. When I had low milk supply, common with traumatic births, she expressed doubt that it was a hormonal imbalance and in a really patronizing tone, said " you're just too tired and stressed for your body to make milk." When I kept advocating for blood work and my test results came back abnormally low, there was never even a response from her or any sense of validation, or apology for expressing doubt about what I was feeling and knowing to be true (I had tried weeks of power pumping, galactogues, tinctures, rest, pills, etc). Could not recommend providers at this office. One star only because Yelp requires that as a minimum.

It is with mixed emotions that I say that both Jackie ( the MA) and Dr Lewing were nothing short of ....I honestly can't think of an appropriate word. They both exhibited traits of genuine concern, empathy, a sense of humor when appropriate and a sympathetic word of encouragement when we were all parting ways. Dr Lewing was extremely educational, honest and straightforward with information. Karen is nurturing and loving with babies and she supports and encourages learning with the older kids while still letting them be kids. She schedules one on one time with each kid each day for sit down learning time. No sterile, cookie-cutter "center" here, it's a loving home setting with fun activities, daily walks to the grade school (my preschooler loves playing on the playground at the big kid's school), a great backyard and location. I also like that it's located on quiet cul-de-sac where the older kids can ride bikes and scooters in nice weather. She provides transportation and after school care for Soos Creek Elementary, Emerald Park Elementary and Little Charger Preschool at Kentridge High so we plan to have our kids with Karen for a good long time. I found her through a FB page after reaching out to a few other doulas and Suzanne was by far the best match, oozing a warmth and loving nature that resonated with me. Not only is Suzanne an amazing soul but she's also insanely knowledgeable about so many things pre and post partum. She helped me navigate almost too many things to list, a breech baby, switching to a provider that was genuinely supportive of my desire to have a vbac, an ECV (it didn't work the first time with my breech daughter and I'm convince Suzanne guiding me through the breathing was the reason he flipped this time in addition to a great provider! But Suzanne's help made it possible for me to really relax and let my bub move along with the doctor's hands.), an unmedicated VBAC and more. Suzanne is friendly and shared a wealth of knowledge ahead of the birth that was very helpful. She had my wife start hand expressing breastmilk and trying out the pumps ahead of the birth which really helped with the milk coming in post partum. My wife had a long and complicated labor - 55 hours of total labor including over 4 hours of pushing. Initially we texted Suzanne to let her know about the labor and she checked in with us every couple of hours. As the labor dragged on she asked to come over that's when we really got to see Suzanne's magic and expertise in action. She was really helpful in finding ways to help my wife relieve pain such as using our bathroom and bringing over a TENS device to reduce pain. At the hospital, Suzanne guided us through options that the doctor / nurse presented us and we observed her push back when appropriate. Watching her push back on the medical team was important later in our labor as my wife and I were empowered to push back on the OB when the OB suggested using forceps. We pushed back on the doctor to give us more time. Our labor was taking a long time because baby was nose up and was coming down crooked. Suzanne was key in positioning my wife in an all fours position that rotated the baby nose down so that she could make it further down the birth canal to a point where the OB could use a vacuum assist instead of forceps - a much safer procedure. I truly believe that without Suzanne, my wife would have ended up with a C-section but we were ultimately able to avoid it because of Suzanne's expertise. After the birth, Suzanne's lactation consultation was also very helpful and the photos she captured during labor were magical. Momma and baby are doing great and we are so grateful for Suzanne.

I think the issue is the incompetent woman out front. I am 37 weeks pregnant, which is ALOT different then 20 weeks. I don't need a full bladder for them to see anything via ultrasound, as if I have control over my bladder at all! If I really have to pee, I'm gonna pee. At 20 weeks you need a full bladder. This is a basic thing. Furthermore, you tell me to be 15 min early and you want me to hold it for 45 min or more...puhleez. You should know better. Everyone else was friendly and helpful, they got me in and out quickly. Again, the first point of contact whether via phone or walking in seems to be the issue.
