Didn't really take me seriously when I felt like I needed to come in until I said my doula wanted me to come in but at that point I was in so much pain I wanted epidural. Eloisa also recommended I drink beer while having contractions or some shots. Alcohol is a blood thinner so I can't imagine that's a remotely smart recommendation especially if I did end up taking pain medication for labor, as well as it still being able to be ingested by the baby. St Joseph's was actually really great I loved every single nurse and doctor I met and I had such a significantly good experience going there. I was there for 3 days and in the future if I ever have children again I'm going to st Joseph's. The nurses there were so sweet it actually made me sad that I will never see them again I'd recommend st Joseph's 100%. Definitely seems like eloisa is a bit more in it for the money. Which of course a jib is about money but she lacks any passion, Haley was pretty nice but I barely saw her. ​​​​​​

I went in convinced PT was not going to help my new/returned back issues and sure I was headed back to surgery. Now I don't think that. She has helped me understand how strengthening my core and my knees can offset the strain I've unknowingly been placing on my lower back. She teaches me the exercise and then provides me with a stick figure drawing and notes how how many + how often that I can then reference at home. She has a basic gym but with everything needed to promote flexibility and strength. Her manual massage/treatment of the spine is highly effective. Skyline Physical Therapy is located in downtown Bellingham with free parking in the back off the alley. It's a bonus to me that there is an 'office dog' - kept behind a child gate so not an issue for folks not fond of dogs. But within easy petting reach for those of us who are fond. I've never written a Yelp review, but after reading the last review I felt compelled to write of my experience because it is a world away from what that person experienced. I don't think the fact that you weren't married or had previous children was a reason for being turned away, but I do know that Dr. Shapiro has been full for years. I, myself, came to see her as a lesbian who had 4 children through donor insemination and she was always fine with it. Over my years with her she has been super attentive to all of my concerns and has seen me through some mental health crises/suicide attempt, caring for my very aged mother, the suicide of my son, and most recently, my transitioning to male. Although she's never had a trans patient before, she has taken over prescribing my hormone therapy and has been instrumental in getting me the letters I've needed for gender affirming surgery. I am beyond grateful for the years I've had with her and dread the day she retires (which I know is no longer on the distant horizon). I don't really think she needs any 5 star reviews since as I mentioned her practice is full, but I felt I had to offer a counter opinion to the individual that felt they were turned away because of having an "alternative" (?) lifestyle.
