Unfortunately Biscuit Love missed the mark. There was a line out the door on a Saturday morning at 10, but it went fairly quickly. You enter the house turned restaurant and order at the counter (they have some shop items that you can look at on the way!). Prices are a bit steep but we had heard good things so we didn't mind. The food took about twenty minutes. Before the plate even sat down, I noticed a HUGE hair on my food which was upsetting. I immediately said something but the waiter didn't say anything except a huff as he took it back. He came back about two minutes later with the exact same plate just sans hair, which is icky to say the least. The food was cold, and the tables are stacked right on top of each other. Service was not the best. The patio looked really nice though, and probably would've been worth sitting out there. With so many great options in the area, we won't be back.

Great ambiance and food. We had a group and ate in the covered area out back. Servers were very attentive to us and the food was awesome. Not for those on a diet LOL

Cozy little cafe carved out of an old downtown home. Very popular spot so be prepared for a wait depending on season and weather. Great service fair prices and amazing food. What a treat!!

I love the ambiance here! So quaint and inviting, it's almost like having breakfast at gramas house with the Fam! People chatting, kids in the background, not loud! The lady (GM) was the cutest and coolest lil thing ever! Bless her heart Now on to the food!! YUMMERS!!!! That's all I got to say about that! YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE TO EAT!!! Well, let me elaborate a little, I had the waffles n berries!! The presentation alone was awesome!! Don't let me get started on how good and fresh it was , you can tell it was scratch and not from a bag in the freezer! And the biscuits AMAZING, flaky, but delicate, just as they should be! DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK AND RECOMMENDING TO EVERYONE!!!

This location is so unique. I've been to multiple biscuit love locations but this one is one in its own. It's an old historic home in downtown Franklin and has such a cozy vibe. The staff here are also so pleasant!

Beautiful building! The grounds are clean and it immediately makes you feel calm and happy. The inside is the perfect vintage cute! It is a counter order option and there was no line and the ordering is easy. My usual breakfast choice is waffles or pancakes but we are at a biscuit place so I had to try a plate. I loved that they cut up the biscuits into small squares. The gravy was good. I wish it was creamier.

This is a MUST spot to Visit, but I mean a must. This location was so neat very original as if you are walking into Grandmas House and love the little touches in every Area, Room and bathrooms even have a little Spunk to it. As you enter you grab a menu and then you order and pay then you go find a seat inside or outside there is plenty of seating areas. Their orange juice & coffee and lattes are so delicious. I got their waffles and they were perfection. The BONUTS are to die for make sure you get an order to share. Everything we ordered was just delicious. Loved the vibes of the place and their bathrooms had a cool vibes love the wallpaper & the Dolly Parton themed bathroom as well. They had a lot of great merchandise like T shirts, sweaters, mugs and even more neat stuff to take home. If you have a big group they have open seating outside that can fit your group as well. Really awesome place for sure. They have different locations but this one was Spectacular!

In town for a girls wkend and stopped in at their original location and were smitten by the architecture of this beautiful home. Biscuits and gravy, coffee, a mixed skillet, coffee, yogurt, more coffee. There are multiple locations and we were saddened to learn this one will be closing soon. There's major construction directly across the street which might be the reason.

Love this quaint breakfast spot! The mimosa with fresh-squeezed orange juice was so good (and I don't usually prefer orange juice). Get the bacon!

A decent omlette, god-awful potatoes, a dry-as-the-desert biscuit, and no waitress anywhere.

Beautiful old building. Nice people. Brutally expensive for food that wasn't very good. $51 for two people- plus a tip if you want. Tiny omelette, tasteless burnt potatoes, and a crumbly dry biscuit that no amount of butter will fix. Hardee's tastes much much better, to be completely honest. Shame.

When a 7-year-old tells you their favorite spot is Biscuit Love, you might think, "Sure, kid, but what do you know?" Well, turns out they know a lot--like way more than me, apparently, because Biscuit Love absolutely lived up to the hype. We went the GrubHub route, and I hate to admit it, but we were not smarter than a 5th grader--or a 3rd grader, for that matter. The East Nasty? Everything you dream of in a Southern breakfast wrapped up in a glorious biscuit. The Chronic bacon? Let's just say the name isn't a lie--it's dangerously addictive. But the sleeper hit? The chili. Order it, then dip your fried potatoes in it. You're welcome. And don't skip the B-Roll. It's a cinnamon roll, but not just any cinnamon roll--it's the kind that makes you question why you've been settling for anything less your whole life. So yeah, take it from the kids--they know what's up. Biscuit Love is a must-try, no matter your age or biscuit expertise.

If you have never been here this is the drill. Order from the counter after entering the house. Pay and then head to an assigned table where your food and beverage will be brought to you. The southern Benny was delicious. 3 biscuits with over easy eggs on top. Then a layer of country ham. All cóvered with a country sausage gravy. Their cinnamon roll was made from their biscuit dought. It was excellent.

This was amazing! They were packed for brunch on Sunday morning but we ordered quickly and didn't have to wait for a place to sit. I liked that we could go refill our waters on our own too. We sat outside on the back patio and it was so nice!! ALSO.. they have a Dolly Parton bathroom??!! SO COOL! My food was delicious. I got the S.E.C. And I actually took half of the biscuit and had jelly with it because I couldn't decide between sweet or salty. Next time I'm in the area will have to come back! It's also right next to downtown franklin and we had a great time walking around all the shops after our meal.

Ask the Community - Biscuit Love - Franklin

    Is the outdoor patio heated?

Hi Cindy - YES! The covered portion of our outdoor patio is heated. However, during cold-weather months, the patio is only open when we have the appropriate level of staffing. This changes day-to-day.

    Gluten free options?

Yes they have items that are gluten free. I do not believe they have any biscuits that are gluten free.

I would first suggest the gumbo, great flavors and not too spicy. If you aren't overly hungry, the gumbo bowl could certainly be a meal. I wanted to sample more of the menu, so I ordered the smoked turkey with their popular "comeback sauce". The sandwich was very good, but I'd suggest the sauce on the side as I wasn't a fan! If you're in the mood for spice, try the hot chicken sandwich. The burgers were also well liked by our table. I have never liked oysters, but they appear to be famous for them - they have a count of how many oysters they've sold up on the wall! If you enjoy oysters, I'd say give them a go. 55 South is in a great area, there is so much to see and do. I'd highly recommend checking it out. We will be back!

Very nice restaurant!…read more We had reservations at 7:45, checked in early and were seated on arrival. Upon entering the restaurant it seemed swamped but the staff was well prepared for the guests. Our server, was amazing! (I'm ashamed we didn't remember his name, Paul maybe). Nonetheless, he knew the menu, the specials, the drinks, and suggestions! We loved each and everyone of the suggestions and choices we made. Our dining experience started with the signature old fashion followed by a bottle of Heitz Cellars Cabernet! We ordered the lamb and brisket buns. Both were savory, delicious and well prepared. Followed by their Sushi Roll. It was described as "if you love sushi, you've never had anything like this." (I've had a ton of Sushi all over the world, and this was a spectacular Hamachi Roll.) we rounded out our meal with the Butternut Burrata and bread basket and a Beef Tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection and able to be cut with a fork. (I am salivating thinking about how perfectly it was prepared.) Just when we thought it couldn't be any better our server suggested we look at the dessert menu. He tempted me with a blood orange sorbet followed by a peanut butter chocolate pie. AMAZING! The fun thing was, I consumed the Heitz Cabernet throughout my entire meal - all the way through dessert. My high remarks to the chef and the staff because this team knows how to please and perform flawlessly!

The place is beautiful, but we were seated in the least interesting area. My friend said it used to be an open patio and was renovated for more indoor seating, which makes sense, but it lacked any real atmosphere. When I am spending this kind of money I want a slow, leisurly pace, and this felt rushed. Yes, we probably could have asked the waiter to slow things down, but we didn't. I ordered a specialty cocktail - the Midnight Sun that was delish - it was layered and around $16. The waiter then brought out what ended up being the highlight of the meal, a little treat from the chef. It was a creamy gnocchi dish to share, about three pieces each, super rich and honestly I could have eaten 20 more. We also spilt the bread flight. The bread was good but I wasn't a fan of the spreads, I'm a BUTTER person, these were more like bean spreads. The brussels sprouts with pork were also really good. Hubby and I split a mixed green salad that was pretty mediocre, and the croutons were almost too hard to chew. Then came the pork, which was a dissapointment. It was so tough it actually got caught in my throat a couple times despite chewing it well. We didn't even finish it. For the price, it should have been tender and full of flavor, and it was neither. My friend ordered the duck pasta and said it had "weird pieces of meat" in it. Her husband got the filet and loved it, so at least someone at the table was happy. We skipped dessert after most of us had disappointing entrees. I guess the good news is they rotate the menu every few months, so maybe it would be a totally different experience next time.

This spot was busy, even around 11am on a weekday! The staff was hustling to get through the line and we didn't wait long to order. The employees here were friendly and welcoming. We chose to take our food home, but there are tables if you prefer to dine in. Normally, I'd be a little worried about food safety with a cafeteria line. This spot is so busy and fresh food was constantly being put out on the line. It didn't look like any of the food was sitting for long. The meats and sides rotate by the day. The offerings by day are listed on their website. Plates can be ordered as meat only or meat plus one, two, or three sides. Veggies plates are an option. They even have a family meal option. Cobblers and pies are available for dessert. I would rate the food quality and taste at 3/5. The portions are generous for the price which is why I bumped to a 4/5. It's decent enough for a large, cheap meal. The Fried Chicken was good. It's not the best I've had, but good if you want something quick. The Chicken and Dumplings was good, a little on the soupier side. The sides were my favorite part. The Carrot Soufflé was my favorite with a sugary topping. The Squash Casserole had a nice taste. The Mashed Potatoes were creamy and buttery. The Green Beans had a nice texture and taste. Nothing here is going to be heavily seasoned, just simple flavors. The Pecan Pie was really good. I liked the crust and the flavor of the filling. The Banana Pudding was good, but not the best we've had. This is one of the few spots you'll still be able to get inexpensive takeout. A basic meal without breaking the bank!

I went with the Hogwood Sampler which comes with chicken, sausage, ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, plus mac-n-cheese on the side. All in it was $27.89 plus tax, which feels like pretty fair market value for the amount and quality of food you're getting. The food itself was incredible. Way too many barbecue places lean way too hard on sauce to do the heavy lifting. That is not the case here. Every single meat had deep, legit smoky flavor on its own and honestly didn't even need sauce. That said, the sauces were also excellent. The Alabama white paired perfectly with the chicken, and the spicy tomato-based red sauce had a great kick without overpowering anything. Drink selection was another pleasant surprise. They've got Coke products and Tractor Organic Beverages. I mixed their unsweet tea with the Tractor mango and made myself a mango tea that worked way better than it had any right to. If I had to nitpick, the side selection is a little limited for my personal taste. I'm always hoping for fries or hush puppies, though to be fair that's not uncommon for BBQ joints around here. I also ran into a sticky spot on the table that clearly hadn't been fully wiped down from a previous guest. That said, the food was good enough that it still lands as a five-star experience for me. Hogwood BBQ is an excellent choice if you're looking for seriously good barbecue in Franklin.

Wanted to love. Hoped I'd love it. I didn't love it. Actually, I didn't even like it…read more Went in hungry around 2:00. It's a counter service joint; you walk up, order, and then someone runs the food to your table. First off, they asked for a point of service tip; that bugs me when I'm ordering my own food at the counter and fetching my own drinks. The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.
