This is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. First there's the location, it's next to the venerable and memorable Monastery of Pedrables in Barcelona, an absolute must see. The Placa de Pedrables where the restaurant sits is about a picturesque as any lovely place in Europe, so when weather permits it is is so nice to enjoy dining al fresco. When the weather doesn't permit the inside of this restaurant is captivating in its charm. The service is impeccable, the wine list is excellent though I always get some Cava, because you know, when in Barcelona... The food is just incomparably good, my favorite is the dark paella, arroz negra. There's no more perfect spot anywhere for an espresso and relaxation. Also very near the American Consulate. It's easiest and fastest to take a bus up here, but I thought it was more fun to take the funicular. I think YELP should allow reviewers to give a 6 star review once every five years. I would give this place my one time 6 star rating, because it's better than great. read more
