Tuna Azul Versalles: HIDDEN GEM!!!…read more I'm talking GOAT-level seafood! Some of the tastiest I've had! All at a super reasonable price and in a casual environment! Located in the Versalles neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, this Tuna Azul is an easy 15 minute walk from "Los Hoteles." Simply head north on Blvd. Francisco Medina Ascencio, turn right on Francia, and another right on Lisboa and you'll arrive to this small, but nicely lit gem! My Mom and I walked in and were greeted by Carlos! He was incredibly welcoming and recommended we sit near the front of the restaurant (furthest from the kitchen where it's loud and busiest.) Diego HIGHLY recommended their marlin quesadilla to start. I liked it so much, I ended up ordering a second! For those not familiar with marlin, it's kind've like a tropical version of tuna. Think tuna but a little sweeter and with more flavor. It's really only found in warm watered places like Mexico or Florida (hence the name of Miami's baseball team). I also decided to get some lobster tacos. Also delicious!!! It came with their famous chimichurri hot sauce plus chipotle and jalapeño cremas. I've got an incredibly high spice tolerance, and even for me their chimichurri sauce was the spiciest! It was absolutely delicious and flavorful, but still proceed with some caution. My Mom ordered shrimp ceviche and a single shrimp taco (she doesn't eat as much as me lol). She said her ceviche was the best she's ever had! I tried a bite and agreed! Extremely fresh tasting and flavorful! Not overly drenched in lime juice like the imposters make. It was the perfect mixture of fresh and sour, with a "bite." What I truly enjoyed about Tuna Azul was the chill ambiance, incredible service (Diego is the real MVP), and reasonable pricing. Our entire bill was about $25 for two people. We (or should I say I) ate a ton and we barely spent anything for an incredible dinner! All in a non-touristy area which was nice. I know there's another Tuna Azul in Old Town and that this is their new location. This is a pretty good street food restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. It's not near the top of the best…read morein town, but it's decent and reasonably priced. We stop here for lunch every time we visit PV, as it's always a solid, reliable choice. As their name would suggest, El Camaron Express specializes in shrimp. If you eat here, get something with shrimp (or at least fish) in it. I love the shrimp quesadilla, which is basically a taco filled with grilled shrimp and melted cheese. The burritos are large and tasty too. They offer free corn chips and a salsa bar (don't be intimidated, just take your plate up there and load up). This time I didn't love my quesadilla because the cook burned the cheese (see photos). They also add avocado slices and I'm more of a purist and would just prefer cheese and shrimp. The portion sizes are large and they do not skimp on the shrimp! There is an assortment of legit hot sauces on every table as well as extra at the salsa bar. Watch out, some are crazy hot and will light your mouth on fire. The dining room is outdoors but they've added a roof for shelter from the harsh sun and PV's frequent rain showers, which is very nice. While tourists are welcome here, the menus are in Spanish (so get out your translation guide). Note that you can order either grilled or fried seafood so if you do not want fried, make sure you let them know. Our entire lunch cost $250.00 pesos ($110 for the burrito, $90 for the quesadilla, and $50 for two Diet Cokes in the bottle -- which taste sooooo good in Mexico). That's about $14 in U.S. dollars. It's cheap, fast, and tasty, and a good stop if you need a break in PV.
